  • Which statements? What did Wright actually say?

From now on, I request that people who write things like, "A liberal should be offended by Wright's statements," etc., do the following:

    (1) Quote which statement Wright said, in context. What did Wright ACTUALLY SAY? Don't just claim the man made a racist statement, quote it. Give evidence. If the racism is just your interpretation, admit it upfront.

    (2) Acknowledge that Wright's statement is not something he said every sermon. What year was the statement made? How do you know he was making such statements on a constant basis? What else did he say? Did Wright also say positive things? Acknowledge that. Give context.

It's called BEING HONEST. That's all I am asking -- use honest examples that represent reality as it is, not reality as you want it to be to serve your partisan argument.

  • @infidel

You owe this country an apology for voting for Reagan.

First, Carter's plan for energy independence before he was derailed by the massive right-wing media assault against him.

What actually happened during the 444 days of the Iranian hostage crisis

what happened during the 10 years of continuous hostage crisis during Reagan/Bush 1

Reagan freed some hostages by secretly trading arms to Iran, others were killed.

Reagan the "teflon" president because, then, as now, the media such as ABC relentlessly attacks Democrats while letting far worse crimes by Republicans slide off (why are we talking so much about Wright and not about Hagee?) Overall, looking back, there really is no comparison between Carter's handling of the middle east and Reagan's. Carter was far and away better and much more representative of America's ideals.

By the way, Carter only had 4 years, and spent most of that time trying to clean up after 8 years of Nixon/Ford mismanagement that led to the economic mess in the first place that you remember so well. But simple minded fools like you were impressed by an actor's tough guy rhetoric. Meanwhile, any progress in Palestine had to wait 12 years until another Democrat got into office.

Russia considers Afghanistan their Vietnam... a mess they wish they never had gotten involved in... our meddling really didn't make much difference to them.

As for Saudi Arabia, I would make them as much of a pariah as we made South Africa during Apartheid for starters. And demand them to hand over Osama's head, since he is one of their own after all as a minimum before we have any further dealings with them in any way, shape or form.

  • Speaking Truth To Hitman

Okay, Hitman, I accept the challenge, as Clouseau would say.

    1. "The US of KKK-A." Is that a reasonable and fair assessment of the US today? That all crackers are racist? That all we whiteys have hoods in our closets? That the situation for blacks in this country is comparable to Nazi Germany's treatment of the Jews? That we're just one big lynch mob waiting to happen?

    2. "The Romans were rich white European. They oppressed black folks back then. Hillary is European. Ain't nobody ever called Hillary a N*gger!" What does "rich white European" have to do with it, unless it's a general broad racist brush?

    3. "The US invented AIDS to kill black people." Without any REAL proof, how different is this from Hitler saying the Jews were intentionally spreading syphilis to destroy the German people and make their women infertile?

    4. "The CIA introduced crack cocaine to destroy the black community." Again, without REAL evidence, Wright has accused an agency of the US (read WHITE) Government with premeditated genocide against black Americans. Pretty strong stuff, especially without any evidence.

I could go on and on about "chickens coming home to roost" which offened most EVERYBODY, considering citizens from 84 nations died on 9/11. Or even more heinous things he said about "rich white folks" in the same way Hitler railed against the "bloodsucking Jews."

But you will never understand any of this, because you choose not to see. You are a glassy-eyed True Believer willing to whitewash racism if it's against white people who you believe deserve it, like we deserved 9/11. Or underestimate the unease in which millions of AMERICANS look upon Obama's 20-year relationship with this ranting racist fool, a relationship he refuses to disavow to this day. And that is why he will lose.

    'nuff said. Happy now, Hitman?

  • Deserve it?

That maybe how you swerve it.

  • @sourmiscreant

SM, I will NEVER apologize for voting for Reagan. I was proud of it, then and I'm proud of it now. Or are you resentful that the man who brought down the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall, and paved the way for the freedoms the former Eastern Bloc countries enjoy today free of the Russian yoke, wasn't a Democrat? BTW did you see all the people who came out for his funeral? Lined the highways for MILES! Bet that REALLY pissed you off, huh? GOOD, LOL!

The best part about banging your head against a wall is when you stop. 'Bye, libtard. I could wish no worse on you than to be who you are: a miserable wretch of a man who does not even appreciate the fact that he lives in the freest nation on earth. The Klansmen and jackboots are all in your own paranoid mind.

BTW If you railed like one the internet in Tehran about Amedinejad hanging queers or stoning young girls to death, do you REALLY think it would be very long before you were swunging on a rope yourself? Nice to know you live in a country that would NEVER do that, Fascist though it may be? Huh?

You've been PWN'd enough. Good night and GFY.

  • Da infidel

We were with Saddam in the Iran-Iraq War because, as history has shown, Islamism presents a most clear and present danger.

First, let's assume that anyone posting here is not on the A-team, despite your claims. We gave military support to Iraq to offset the Shia Iranians. That was realpolitik. And we wanted to piss off the Russians and mess with their sphere of influence.

Islam is not a clear and present danger. It has been a religion of conquest, just like christianity. It also has a rich tradition of many sects, such as the Sufis which are of the more mystic sort.

The Wahabist sect of Islam is a radical sect, a sect sponsored by the house of Saud for over a hundred years. That's the sect we have to watch out for. All but a few of the 9/11 highjackers were Saudi. So think about that while you're happy we protected Saudi Arabia from Saddam. We protected Saudi Arabia for our own selfish reasons.
