There are 2 types of intelligence.
The first kind is the "intelligence" that is available to us (citizens, jouranlists, low ranking politicians, etc.). Then there is the intelligence available to the high ranking people. There have long been accusations of Iran aiding AlQaeda and groups linked to them, ranging anywhere from full out funding/training them, to simply ignoring their presence and allowing them a corridor through Iran to Iraq from Pakistan/Aghanistan.
Mccain probably knows some stuff we don't, especially since he has been consulting with Israel lately, and the Mossad know a thing or two. Whether you believe it or not is another thing.
But wasn't it not too long ago, the accusation Iran was training/funding Shia extremists in Iraq was considered "sabre rattling" on the US's part? What have we found out about that?

Stop giving the benefit of the doubt: McCain just doesn't know
Come on kufir77,stop giving these guys thte benefiot of the doubt that they know something we don't. That's how we got into Iraq in the first place. They must know something and wouldn't just lie, right? Wrong. If they have real information that supports their case, they don't hold back. For McCain to keep saying these things shows either that he's as delusional as any neocon, or he really doesn't know the difference between sunnis and shias, between Al Qaida and Iran. Considering how many in government haven't known the difference, and remembering McCain's stroll through the market a year ago, either is possible.
Look McCain doesn't know something you don't. That's why he ends every sentence with "radical Islamic extremists". He has nothing else.

'77 had it right on the nose
Mccain probably knows some stuff we don't, especially since he has been consulting with Israel lately, and the Mossad know a thing or two. Whether you believe it or not is another thing.
McCain has been programmed and is parroting what his Neocon/Zionist puppeteers have programmed him to parrot. Did you catch the use of the word "fealty" in regard to whether or no Barrack H. Obama is loyal enough to Israel?
Israel is a FOREIGN COUNTRY. Israel is a foreign country WITH FAR TOO MUCH INFLUENCE OVER THE UNITED STATES. I can't break it down into smaller pieces -- I realize that most people have been brainwashed since before birth into believing that Israel's interests have anything to do with the interests of the United States and that is simply not the case, nor has it ever been.
The USA is a big, stupid lummox with an evil Zionist imp on its shoulder, whispering in its ear. You know that Hollywood scumbag-vampire type that's being restrained from accessing Britney Spears via a restraining order? That's what the USA needs -- a restraining order on Israel and Israel agents and Israeli sympathizers in the USA from feeding our politicians dubious information because our politicians are so fucking stupid they may as well be human Etch-a-Sketches.
JOHN MCCAIN: Here's some news for you. Israel is not our friend. Israel is no one's friend. Israel is the root of all Middle East problems. Crack open a few history books and observe how Israel oozed its way into existence. Ask yourself if 3,990 American soldiers should have been sacrificed for the benefit of Israel.

I'm pretty sure he knows the difference between Sunni and Shiite
He may not know all the theological stuff, but heck, some of them don't even know it themselves. But there is no way he doesn't know Iran is predominantly Shiite and that Al Qaeda is Sunni. But is it so unthinkable that Iran would support Sunnis? They already do, with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. I believe it is a Muslim saying that "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
But in this situation, he just misspoke (3 times makes it odd) or he let something slip that there is not enough proof of yet. I bet if you get Joe Liebermann speaking off the record, he probably thinks Iran does support AlQaeda. And as people have noted, all 3 candidates have made odd comments, probably due to jet lag and constantly being on the move. None of them would get this far with being totally ignorant of major world matters.

McCain either had a senior moment or he's absolutely clueless
Look at the videotape. Hear him make the same remarks earlier on Hugh Hewitt's show. We've been at war in Iraq for 5 years now, and the man doesn't understand the basic internal dynamics in the region. I find this both astonishing and plainly evident from his (mis)statements.
And make no mistake: if Obama had stated on several occasions that (Shi'a) Iran was training and sending (Sunni) al-Qaeda fighters into Iraq, he'd have been laughed off the national stage. And rightly so.

They're on the warpath
At some point terrorists are going to strike in the U.S. again, and Iran is already being set up as the sacrificial goat. The only chance we have is a Democratic Congress strong enough to fight them, in spite of the public's call for war. And there will be a call - Americans will demand retribution against the known enemy, and that enemy right now is Iran. The neocons want to destroy the middle east, and they aren't planning on stopping just because Iraq is a mess. They like the chaos, and they don't particularly care about lives lost - their children aren't getting killed. They have an overarching vision, and like every other group of fanatics, they will not let reality get in the way of that vision. I don't think that McCain counts himself among the Neocons, but he is as susceptible to their influence as Bush was.

McCain stumbles on Commander in Chief threshold
My only regret about Senator Obama's stirring and courageous speech in Philadelphia yesterday was that the widespread coverage of it took public attention away from Senator McCain's catastrophic blunder. McCain said repeatedly in a press conference and in a radio interview in Jordan that Iran was training and arming the Sunni Al Qaeda insurgents in Iraq.
Only two interpretations for this enormous gaffe come to mind: 1) McCain believes this patently false statement to be true which is why he is trying to beat this into the consciousness of the American people as a prelude to war with Iran; or 2) he is losing control of his mental faculties.
No matter whether one or both are true, McCain has shown clearly that his shaky grasp of global reality disqualifies him for serving as president in these perilous times. He has already admitted that he knows nothing about economics, now we learn that he knows nothing about international affairs either.
The two speeches yesterday gave us a good look at contrasting qualities in two presidential candidates. Obama confronted the complex issues of race and history with the subtlety, intelligence and candor we need in a national leader. McCain fumbled his way around the Middle East displaying a frighteningly slippery grasp on reality.
The choice before us is becoming clearer with each passing day.
