  • Can we really fault her?

Doesn't "everyone" embellish a little on their resume?

  • I spent a week in Paris

I can be ambassador to France, right?

  • Much ado about nothing

I wouldn't care about this if it was Obama on that trip instead of Clinton. However, I'm sure many in the media (and elsewhere) will stress the importance of this and thus carry on the tradition of making our elections about meaningless Bull S**t.

  • I rest my case.

Show me some SUBSTANTIVE events from her years as first lady, both in the White House and in Arkansas, that rival those of an elected official.

Hand-shaking, hand-waving, motorcade-riding, banquet-eating, poem-listening, camera-smiling, and so forth are all very useful skills, I am sure. Add in a dose of reporter-chatting, sound-bite-making, and perfect-hair-posing. But really. Tell me something REAL about those famous 35 years of experience. Please. I'm listening.

  • Let's recollect a little more

Does Senator Clinton really want to associate herself with Bosnia? Remember, President Bill Clinton said we would only be in Bosnia for 6 months.

From the Democratic candidates 9/27/07 debate:

Senator Joe Biden: "... we've had 20,000 Western troops in Bosnia for 10 years. ..."

  • Experience

That's why she's the one that will be ready to go on Day One.

  • Item: Bush, Iraq, Thanksgiving 2003

According to CNN's contemporaneous report, The Current Occupant touched down at Baghdad International Airport that day in late 2003 at 5:31 PM local time, departing 2.5 hours later at approximately 8 PM local time.

As we all recall, he participated in (among other things) a photo op in which he served Thanksgiving dinner to the troops. As little as I like Dubya, I think it's fair to say he was in SOME danger while briefly visiting Iraq, even if none of the enemy had a clue he was dropping in.

The second paragraph in this War Room item consists of one derisive sentence, dismissing Hillary Clinton's 1996 visit to Bosnia this way: "All nine hours of it." This hardly qualifies as "insight", as claimed in the headlines of this item, or perspective. It's a cheap shot that doesn't bear up under even rudimentary scrutiny.

The level of Clinton Derangement Syndrome has risen to breathtaking levels.

  • Chelsea?

Wasn't Chelsea, then about fifteen or sixteen, on this trip?

Was that something else they always said in the White House? If it's too dangerous for Elvis, send the president's teen-age daughter?

  • Spare me the snark

A First Lady going to Bosnia (under quite dangerous circumstances) meeting with the Acting President, having roundtable discussions and meetings with NGOs is impressive.

It's ONE example of how Hillary Clinton wasn't a mere trophy First Lady and was an active participant in the White House.

Were you expecting her to do some sort of "study abroad" program in Bosnia as First Lady? Nine hours isn't nine days, but it's not nothing.

  • Perilous

I want to know more about the "run for the cars" moment she cited. Did it start to rain?

  • Paybacks?

Maybe Hillary wants to be president so she can send Bill to various dangerous and obscure places.

  • clinton derangement

Ok, RichEmery, so now any critique of Hillary is just like criticism of the Chimp in Chief?

Maybe Hillary will put on a tight-fitting flight suit and prance around the deck of air craft carrier next to demonstrate her commander in chief bona fides. I can hardly wait.

  • Truth be know,

both Hillary and her daughter were wounded in Bosnia by pie throwing terrorists which have caused them both great distress as they ran wet with pee rings all to the lady's room to clean up.

Even today when such desserts are offered in any foreign country they act presidential in they cringe and ask for brownies instead. Even in Pennsylvania where she has had the courage to reminisce about the awful memories of being so presidential. Nauseating. Prue nausea...

  • Dear -- mizbinkley

I congratulate her for going. I question her judgement in taking along her teenage daughter if there was the slightest chance that there were snipers anywhere near the scene. It is impressive that she went, but if it was dangerous than she was foolish to let her daughter go, and if it wasn't dangerous, why make the danger up? Wasn't it impressive enough on its own merits? Either way, imo, it suggests something of Hillary's or her campaign's trouble with the truth. However, Chelsey being along on the trip, would suggest that Mrs. Clinton's memory is a lot more interesting than the actual landing in Bosnia.

  • 9 hours

9 hours was more time than our current president spent in a war zone, talking to people affected by it, before he became president. In that context, she does have relevant experience. Whether it's substantially more experience than her Democratic opponent is another issue entirely.

  • Give her a break

Look, I am a big-time Obama fan. My friends call me an Obama-maniac. But I don't discount the value of a First Lady visiting foreign countries and their leaders. It's all part of the PR game for the US. We need relationships with our global brethren. I'm happy that she was a good representative of our country for 8 years.

She should keep her message on her international relationship building skills and keep the "danger" out of her conversation.

  • @MarieA, your statements need some further info to make sense

Does Senator Clinton really want to associate herself with Bosnia? Remember, President Bill Clinton said we would only be in Bosnia for 6 months.

From the Democratic candidates 9/27/07 debate:

Senator Joe Biden: "... we've had 20,000 Western troops in Bosnia for 10 years. ..."

    1. When Bill Clinton says "we," he had to mean America, since he was only empowered to command American troops. He was not the Commander in Chief of Europe or Latin America.

    2. When Joe Biden said "Western," he must have meant troops from all over the Western hemisphere, otherwise he would have said "American."

I'm curious how Biden defines "we" in this case, since the deployment of "Western" troops is not up to him any more than it was up to Clinton.

I'm also curious about how many of those 20,000 "Western" troops are actually being deployed through the American military.

Any of them? Or all they all deployed through NATO and/or the UN?

  • When is Laura and/or Barbara Bush going to run for president

If sleeping with the president somehow makes you qualified to be president of the United States, I'm wondering when Laura and/or Barbara will make their run for the white house. Also, I have seen Chelsea's name floated about as a possible future contender. Does this mean the Bush twins will also grace us with their "leadership experience"? That will be a treat!

I despise sinbad but I think he had the best quote on this subject -- Bosnia was deemed too dangerous to send the president? What kind of husband / leader would say "well, then let's just send Hillary. While we are at it, we'll send a singer and a comedian to cover her back" (not an exact quote but you get the idea.
