Not exactly appropos of this article..
...but does anyone believe that if Obama had said that IRAN was training Al-Qaeda forces in Iraq, he wouldn't be hooted off the national stage? Or if Clinton had said that? For that matter, do any of you believe that either of those two individuals doesn't know the difference between a Sunni and a Shi'ite?
McCain's positives just hit 67% today. Apparently the highest of any presidential candidate in recent history, and a good bit higher than both Clinton and Obama.
And we're expected to believe that he "misspoke"? That he meant to say "extremists" and it came out as "Al-Qaeda"?

You need an annual "irony award"
This would be in the top 10, if not a sure winner.
-
"I don't think she'll be happy until we have a Rwanda-like genocide."
It's true. I know that genocide makes me positively giddy. Ugh.
Meanwhile, www.cnsnews.com is a pretty trashy site. I feel dirty just having gone there.

This from a man...
who wrote an article titled "Mary Robinson, War Criminal?"
-
Meh
Pelosi is perhaps the worst example of a liberal racist: She sees Iraqis as nothing more than a template upon which to fight a partisan battle.
Meh. Yet another example of right-wing psychological projection. I'm not sure why it rates "quote of the day" status.
-
Attention Alex Koppelman
Why? Why would you make this the Quote of the Day? That quote isn't even the most insane thing I've read in the last hour, let alone all day. There are surely *thousands* of insane wingnut rantings on all sorts of topics out there now. Are you going to post all of them?
Gosh, I'm sorry about dumping on you like this, but the War Room has really gone downhill under your tenure. I come here for the news and stay for the comments, or at least I used to...
-
It matters because they'll blame us
Quotes like that matter because those of us who opposed invading and occupying Iraq need to be aware that even the neocons give up hope of success, they'll try to blame those who opposed their idiocy. It's not just that these brave scholars will fight to the last Iraqi. Consciously or unconsciously, they're laying the groundwork to blame war opponents just like they did after Vietnam. We're fools if we ignore them and don't prepare.
-
Odd, But...
It doesn't seem that Hillary or Obama care if we withdraw and a Rwanda-level-genocide immediately follows.
-
Tired of them pretending to care about Iraqis
It doesn't seem that Hillary or Obama care if we withdraw and a Rwanda-level-genocide immediately follows.
Yeah, right. You know, back in 2002 and early 2003 we heard a lot of pro-war people, including pretty much the whole staff of the AEI, chastise us anti-war people because we didn't care enough about the poor Iraqis. Then came the war -- proving that Americans were not, as predicted, welcomed as "liberators". Then came the next several years, when probably over a million have died and many million more misplaced, raped, maimed, tortured etc. During this time the same pro-war people suddenly forgot how much they cared about "the poor Iraqi people". We heard the same folks propose massive bombardments and worse -- we heard them justify random arrest and torture.
Now those same people are telling us that the US can't pull out because of "the poor Iraqi people".
You have no credibility left. Any of you.
-
@ Asher Steinberg
How much is AEI paying you not to give a rat's ass about Iraqis? Seriously, anyone that advocates wholesale destruction of a country that has not attacked the US, for non-existent reasons, can not honestly claim to have the interests of the citizens of that country in mind. That simply fails the test of basic logic.
-
projection indeed
How come no one accuses the right of being politically invested in the bogus narrative that Iraq is a just war, a strategically advantageous war, or a winnable peace?
-
Someone might like to remind the right...
...that in the last 7+ years, they haven't been right about anything. Not the economy, the invasion and occupation, taxes, the constitution...nothing, all the while adding 4 TRILLION dollars to the national debt and running a massive budget deficit EVERY YEAR since taking control of my government.
And no, I'm not a democrat.
-
If anyone remembers history anymore...
You will recall that in Vietnam the logical fallacy ran that it was often necessary to destroy a village in order to save it.
This is, quite simply, history repeating itself-- That, in order to save the Iraqis, we must stay and perforce destroy them.
-
ahh yes
and these are the people obama is going to reach across the aisle to and heal the divisions.
