In a speech, Hillary Clinton plays up her trip to Bosnia again.

Great, but none of that text supports Hillary's assertion:

"I remember landing under sniper fire," she recalled. She and her retinue were then sent "running with our heads down to our vehicles."

My concern/issue isn't that Hillary may or may not have been in danger. Her version may be true, even if others ont he trip differ...or it may not be cut and dry. In any event, it still gets to a question of judgement and thus truth.

If it was a combat zone where it was possible that she might get shot at, than she's brave for going there BUT STUPID for taking along her teenage daughter. It suggests in that situation that looking like "Elenor Rosevelt" was more important that her child's safety...or the safety of others who had not signed up for a dangerous mission. Kudos to her for taking on a dangerous mission, if that was the case, but bad, bad, bad judgement for taking your teenage child into the war with you.

If she wasn't getting shot at, than she's enhancing her memory with a very romantic view of her role and fighting. In which case it should call into question her basic truthfulness. Reagan used to talk about combat missions and dying pilots from war movies believing they were real...that scared me. If Hillary is inflating an otherwise noble mission in order to creat, post hoc, some sort of phoney "commander in chief" threshold, that's not just simply sad, it is dishonest.

In the end, either interpretation, doesn't reflect well on her or her advisors. AND, this is important, that is too bad because her mission to Bosnia seems to have been genuinely noble. Truth should have been good enough...it apparently isn't, or if true it, IMO, reflects that she is wreckless, at least with her daughter's safety, and that doesn't gibe me confidence that she will be any less cavilar when it comes to our national safety.

See her vote on Iraq and her willingness to authorize the President to do as he pleased...leading us to this terrible place we are in today. No regrets, no second guessing, and remembering the circumstances far differently than others who were there (note Senator Graham).

I spent 3 1/2 years in a war zone, and I still call BS on Mrs. Clinton.

Chelsea being with her on the trip is the most telling, even if you discount everyone else who contradicts Mrs. Clinton's recollections.

What mother would expose her teenage daughter to sniper fire?

All my wife would have to be told is that there was sniper fire covering the tarmac and there would have been a APC taxing up to the aircraft before she'd let our children deplane.

So there's two choices here. Either Mrs. Clinton is attempting to unnecessarily juice her experience for political purposes or SHE is the kind of mother that would expose her child to unecessary danger.

  • @Sobe - Why Post if it's "Not an Issue"?

Now snake, how could I possibly show you a link for an independent confirmation of a lost and long gone incident in the rivers of South east Asia in the early 60s? I don't even care, that is why I wrote that the professional smearing group also known as Swiftboat Veterans for the Truth swore by the veracity of their account as these independent "verifiers" do.

You missed the point. Most media outlets investigated the Swiftboater claims, and concluded there was little evidence to verify their claims.

One of Kerry's crew mates, who was there, discounted the Swiftboater's assertions -

So here, we have an independent verification of the visit, another letter writer who claims to have been there, and yet, you still won't acknowledge that Senator Clinton's memory is, at best, faulty.

As for Jeremiah, well Obama has been going to that church for 20 years, all his children have been baptized by the good ol' Jeremiah, Obama's last book is titled as one of Jeremiah most infamous speeches, Jeremiah was in one of Obama's committee until yesterday . . . but, oh not to worry, their relationship is purely spiritual. Well, I do not want the country in the hands of a man with such rotten spirit, God damn America would become a sad reality.

Unless you are very young, I would defy you to find that everyone whose company you keep is, absolutely pure. Are you???

As a Christian, I don't judge Rev. Wright's spirit, or that of Obama. And, as I stated previously, I don't find most of what Rev. Wright stated particularly egregious.

Rezko, Wright . . . you will be known for the company you keep.

Hsu, Nemazee, Peter Paul, Martinez, and let's not go to Burkle, Gupta, and Giustra, and how much of their "donations" may help Senator Clinton's campaign.

It is a two way street.

  • Sniping

If anyone knows sniping, it's Hillary Billary Dock. It's her campaign theme. Lose, whine, and snipe.

  • News Flash - Sinbad's a comedian who has it in for Hillary Clinton

Sinbad is a comedian. He makes up stories and exaggerates them for a living. Read the Washington Post story. It has more detail than the Salon piece, even though it is still a bit of a hatchet job. Sinbad is pissed because Hillary Clinton had the audacity to think that she would make a better president than Barack Obama.

As for Hazmag, it is so nice to have a swift-boater join the discussion. Didn't you get the memo. You are supposed to be swift-boating Obama.

You ever notice how Bush swoops into Iraq in the middle of the night, and slithers away quietly, while Hillary Clinton spends a couple of days talking with Iraqis and the troops out in daylight and out in the open. I understand that the President is the number one target for Iraqis who are fighting our troops, but a former first lady and current Senator would be highly targeted as well. It seems that George Bush and Hillary Clinton just have a different way of approaching dangerous situations.

As far as Barack Obama versus Hillary Clinton, I guess the Obama supporters have to keep finding ways to minimize her experience when it is some experience versus almost zero experience.

There also seems to be a sexist rationale regarding the shocking revelation that a male President allowed his presumably helpless wife and daughter into the war zone. That's the point guys. Hillary Clinton is strong and she feels comfortable in the role of leader.
