@Crunchy (OT) Dostoyevsky and the Grand Inquisitor
Well, it seemed to me, in a late night free association moment, that we were right back with the Grand Inquisitor. The dude is non-dominational, and equal opportunity after all and a bit of him lurks inside us all. The GI is asking questsions, but he isn't listening, and doesn't want to listen to the answers. He already knows his answer and will broke no enlightenment. He doesn't want the truth to interfere.

The difference is that Hilary does not have Jerry Fallwell or Pat Robertson on as spiritual advisors to her campaign. Obama and Wright parted ways not because Obama disagrees with his sermons but because he saw a political backlash in the making with White voters. Earlier this year Obama did denounce "some" of the things Pastor Wright said but he still had him as an advisor right up until yesterday. Why all of a sudden is Pastor Wright no longer part of team Obama? Is this because Obama decided yesterday on whim that his good friend and pastor of 20 years words were "apalling". Yes these hateful words were not coming out of Obama's mouth but when you actually employ him as part of your "spiritual team" then his message is part of your overall message.
Why is Obama pushing uncle Wright away from the campaign. Why would Obama rescind ("disinvite" according to Wright) his invitation to Wright to give the invocation at his nationally televised campaign kickoff. None of this would be happening right now if those pesky folks at ABC didn't get a hold of a certain dvd.
In regards to Obamas denial to acutally hearing the comments or others like them, this comment can laughed off at face value. I'm sure over the last 20 years every time Pastor Wright gave one of his hate sermons he scanned the congregation to see if Obama was in the house. If Obama wasn't there he "let er rip" on the Jews, the Gays, the Whites, the non-black American public, the "Aids creators" and their ilk. If Obama happened to be in attendence it was all milk and honey, peace and love mixed in with a bit of tolerance.
Grow up folks...Wright doesn't switch his radical Black views on and off. Obama heard all the sermons and if he didn't I would question his judgement since it was under his nose for 20 years. This is nothing but politics at its worst. Showcase his Christian values, pastor and church in front of the God fearing Blacks folks of South Carolina and dial it all back once he gets in front of a White audience. At least Michelle seems to be staying on with Wrights message.
let me finish with a quick analogy. Did Elliot Sptizer resign because he "used high priced hookers"? Or did he resign becasue we "found out" he used high priced hookers. The answer is obvious in both scenarios...

@odog11 So, what's your point?
That Obama is a politician? That he has associations with questionable people?

All the better!
re: Odog---I don't know if he's bad or not; all I know is you all refuted his arguments very well.
Just sayin'.

Seema like even after many of us have tried to address that very question for you last night, you seem to not be satisfied. You might want to go back and reread many of the responses.

Popular vote revisited
Sorry folks your calculations are off. Here's the current tally of the Popular vote including Michigan and Florida:
Popular Vote Total - 13,281,132 49.5% 12,577,409 46.9% Obama +703,723 +2.6%
Popular Vote (w/FL) - 13,857,346 48.5% 13,448,395 47.1% Obama +408,951 +1.4%
Popular Vote (w/FL & MI)* - 13,857,346 47.5% 13,776,704 47.3% Obama +80,642 +0.2%
Factor in her potential huge win in Penn and my math is almost as good as Manos99 dog (Omar).

@Odog
Your still beating a dead horse. Obama had no need to distance himself from Wright until he was on a camapaign! Why? Because its only on the campaign trail that it matters. It is symbolic, as most of these things are.
As a citizen he could go to church- as many do- and disagree with his pastor and his church on a million different things- as many people do- and no-one will care. As a candidtae for president, the opposing party wants to make hay and, like you, make it sound that people agree with every word of their pastor or their church. A stupid, ignorant, politically convenient things to do, but there it is. So its then that he has to distance himself.
Whats so hard to understand about that?
You talk about "judgement" of Obama. Well, i see trusting a pastor that goes over the top as a lot more normal judgement than trusting president Bush on using diplomacy in Iraq and approving a bill called "authorization for the use of force in Iraq", then pretending that you had no idea Bush would use force.
Again, how many trillions have we wasted on Wrights sermons? How many people have died due to wright?
Yeah i thought so.
Keep bring this up Dog, You only make yourself look sillier and sillier. And so will HRC. Since you guys havent noticed yet, by the very nature of Obamas responses to this stuff, he comes out ahead every time. He "denounces and rejects" quickly, decidedly and in the process makes HRC and her followers look like the ultimate hypocrites and political stooges.
Anybody supporting a candidate that "trusted" Bush, and empowered him to get us into the worst foreign policy disaster in ages, is married to a man who lied bald faced to the public, and who takes a week to decide that a supporter who is making racially charged allegations should be let go, should really step lightly when speaking of judgement.

Uncle Fester
my point is that Obama is campaigning on the fact he's "not" a politician. That he's about change from the status quo. "Change we can believe in"...Baloney...If that's his platform for election he should at least live up to his supposed "core values".
