Guess who's not? The press!

  • No wonder Bush's speech wasn't news

Did he say anything noteworthy at all?

  • Alone in the dark with Bush...

A fitting tableau for the past eight years. Who knows what it might have been like if we still had journalists who gave a rat's ass about things like illegal behavior that didn't involve sex?

  • How did he look in person?

Lately on the news he seems increasingly befuddled and borderline nonverbal.

  • So?...

Did he say anything newsworthy? If this non-story is the best that came out of your evening, then maybe Amanda Silverman should've stayed home and watched America's Next Top Model instead. Sounds like a wasted night.

Also, I think NPR had a clip from the president's speech during Morning Edition today. Maybe they got a bootleg somewhere....

  • But why was no one there?

Fascinating account, really, of a non-event. Is it that the White House lets the press know what the subject is and it then judged it as non-news? Did the press not know the topic and took odds that the speech was worthless? Is it that Bush has manipulated the press, even by deliberately poisoning the well with schill journalists, that the press no longer bothers to show up? Is it that the press is absorbed with sexier stories and knows it won't waste inches on the President?

I'm glad someone was there to report, but when I ponder all the possible reasons it wasn't covered... I really get scared.

  • I like your writing style

I thought this was a very good account of an interesting phenomenon, and I really liked the way you wrote it up. I don't know how often you post in War Room, but I will keep an eye out for your stuff next time.

  • Lame Duck

    Not much more to say.

  • It's about time!!

I was wondering when it would stop being considered news, the opinion of this one idiot who became president through election rigging and has been wrong pretty much every time he's opened his piehole over the past 7+ years. The press shouldn't pay much more attention to this idiot than they should pay to Paris Hilton's political opinions.

  • yyyaaaaaawwwnnnnnn...

    huh...president who?

  • Darn...

...I was hoping he'd announce the success of Chaney's recent trip to the middle east to "do something" about the price of oil...which from the standpoint of Bush and Chaney, you have to admit, was pretty successfull.
