  • @Plubius Maximus

plubius maxiumus: "Speaking of overheated rhetoric and personal attacks, Geraldine Ferraro has submitted her resignation from Her Imperial Majesty's campaign."

Ah... Well there you go. I guess all the Clinton supporters who were contorting themselves into knots defending Ferraro will be relieved.

  • Sick and Twisted Conservatives.

Here this right wing-nut is protecting KBR and Cheney when the issue is that this greedy company was PAID-collected fees-billed our government-- to keep a supply of clean water for OUR troops, our fighting men and women.

If providing clean water for drinking and bathing isn't supporting our troops, I don't know what is. But all you 'conservatives' get up in arms and defend HER and attack AP. Defend KBR as they get no bid contracts and jeapordize the health of our fighting forces so Dick Cheney and his fellow stockholders can get a bigger dividend.......

  • Whoops, wrong thread! How did that happen?

    Sloppy web-tabbing...

    Sorry...

As long as I'm here, thanks for nailing Malkin on her dishonest use of arguments, Koppelman.

I think if you're going to include Malkin in your coverage, you'll have a lot of material to work with. She's just another Coulter/Limbaugh/Hannity/O'Reilly clone, and not someone that (hopefully) anybody takes seriously.

For me, Malkin is somebody who falls into the category of, "How does she even have a job?" Every time I see her on TV my skin crawls. She's a horrible human being, as soulless as one can imagine. Who are the mutants who lap up her ramblings? I feel the same way about Glenn Beck, who seems more like a used-car salesman or infomercial guru than somebody who should even be allowed to discuss matters of national importance on prime-time, mainstream television.

  • Why is there a "Sexy College Girls" Banner Ad at the top of my War Room?

Seriously, Salon. Please reconsider your advertising policy. It was enough that I was directed to a salacious bit of gossip as to the identity (and image) of Spitzer's "Kristin" by your new "5 Things" feature, but must you also demean your site by advertising for sex?

I check in at Salon regulalry during my work time, and I sit in a public area at my office, so rest assured, your ads with flash video of college girls making out will do little to inspire me to return to your site. Kind of the oppositie effect you hope for form advertising, right?

    Please.

  • Alex, this is a dog bites man story.

Write a story when Michelle Malkin gets her facts right. Now, that would be news!

  • More importantly...

Why ISN'T there a 'sexy college girls' banner ad at the top of my page? I pay good money for this, and no sexy college girls? I thought this was a classy joint!

    :)

  • How long?

How long can War Room ignore the Ferraro thing?

Long enough to treat us to a meaningless analysis of the insignificant right-wing loonie Michelle Malkin.

How long before the War Room will get around to similar critical analysis of Ferraro's remarks, her response and continuation of sentiment, the Clinton campaign's weak response, Hillary Clinton's non-response, Ferraro's backflip on whether she will resign, and finally, the strong and dignified response of Barack Obama?

How about a comparison of the Clinton campaign's continued use of "race cards" or "race baiting" to the historic use of same by GOP candidates? How the Clinton campaign and its surrogates have been speaking in the same "code" used by Republicans when they campaign in the South?

How much longer before it's flashed out of the news cycle and the weak editor of War Room can use that as his excuse not to face the obvious racism if his apparent favored candidate?

    The clock is ticking...

  • Bloggers bashing bloggers bashing media...

    isnt news. Its navel-gazing.

The media has, quite effectively, made itself into part of the story. O'Reilly- shoot, all of Fox, Beck, even my favorites, Olbermann and Maher, spend a ridiculous amount of time talking about...each other.

Cant you keep Salon out of this silliness?

  • (OT) Geraldine Ferraro ....

Given the extent of the Power coverage here, it's relevant to note the lack of Ferraro analysis here and the rest of Salon. Alex are you now deciding to stay above the fray between the two campaigns and focus on the evil doings of Eliot Spitzer and Republican miscreants?

  • Allergic

A perfect opportunity to demonstrate how completly insane and dishonest a GOP water carrier is and it's all about race baiting and "the strong and dignified response of Barack Obama." Excuse me I have to sneeze…ahh...ahhh...bullshit.

Please show me a primary where Clinton received 90% of the female vote.

    The clock is ticking...

    Another sneeze… ahh,...ahhh...bullshit.

  • cucko for cocapuffs

everytime that angry nut case opens her big mouth she proves her bias. Someone needs to sit her down, in front of a mirror and inform her that she is an asian woman and that the right wing she defends on a daily basis, hates her as much as they hate other minorities.

What the hell is wrong with that woman?

Um. I have to say here. As a white woman and one who did not support Clinton in the primary, I think your analogy is off. It's starting to get ugly how many posters will refer with scathing scorn to Obama's catching 90% of the African American vote, while not looking at a couple of factors. Clinton, arguably, did not craft a campaign message for women.

I say that as a woman. Her message of voting for Ky Leiberman and then claiming that she will represent "change" from male leadership on war doesn't reach me as a voter. Neither have her slow denunciations of torture (under her husband extraordinary rendition began). Clinton probably could have captured if not 90% a lot more women voters had she not put Mark Penn in charge of her campaign, who refused to let her "soften" her appeal to voters instead focusing on her "strong and ready for day one" message. Although crafted to capture male voters, more than female voters, I think her message hasn't resnonated with as many women as it would have if she had emphasized other aspects of her readiness to lead.

Obama crafted his message rather carefully to appeal to African Americans AND the general population. Hope is a message so effective that Bill Clinton used it and won in 1992. It has no racial boundaries or limitations. This is a strong reason why Obama is capturing more of the vote than say, another Illinois Democrat of color, Carol Mosely Braun. He needed to prove to African Americans that he could craft a winning message, that he had the credentials and the ability to win and to lead, and then he won over their support.

Not acknowledging that first is an insult to an important part of the Democratic base. Those who are saying that African Americans voters are only voting for Obama because of their color are making a shallow, short-sighted judgement of African American voters. Until this election I didn't hear anyone but Republicans insulting African American voters--and then it was for their overwhelming support of Democrats regardless of their gender or their race.

As for whether or not Republicans will vote for Obama in November, that remains to be seen. But at least he has a message, as much as some may scoff it, that is inclusive and non-judgemental of them for being Republicans. And for those that hate McCain, and realize some of the disastrous policies the Republicans in government have inflicted on the country, his tent is wide enough to accomodate them.
