Bush twists the facts on Iraq

In remarks Tuesday, the president couldn't seem to keep his chronology of the war straight, and gave -- again -- a misleading explanation of ongoing troop withdrawals.

The letters thread is now closed.

Twice in one week, Ferraro has made

inappropriate comments about Barack Obama. As much as Salon loves the he said / she said of politics, I don't know why they choose this to leave this story alone.

Ferraro: If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.

Ferraro: "Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," Ferraro said. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

A former democratic vice-presidential candidate, and advisor to Hillary Clinton is going on right wing shows and race-baiting. I'm sorry, but I thought the people who read the War Room might want to know. Or are we going to be treated to more posts about Powers?

What Wasn't Twisted Just Wasn't Mentioned

The whole point of the escalation was to create some breathing room for a specific set of political gains to be made. Just how many of that set of gains has been made? (Yes, that's rhetorical).

I guess they got so busy dealing with the alligators, draining the swamp just fell out of view ...

Just the Facts

The real story about Iraq is what Bush and his media lapdogs aren't telling. The escalation of troops had little effect on the actual security of the country. At least ten percent of the population of Iraq is gone. They are either refugees or dead. The ethnic tribal cleansing of vast areas of the country by thuggish militias was complete by the time the additional troops arrived. The military made separate peace with each militia leader and a so called peace has ensued at least for a while. Bush and Co. is touting this as the success we've all been waiting for.

However, it's just a matter of time before the militias began their individual campaigns against one another now they have had time to regroup, consolidate, and re-arm thanks to Uncle Sam's benevolence. Wait for it...the blood-bath is not over.

In other words...

"That means the troop drawdown could begin in April, when the first troops in the surge will reach their 15th month on the ground. Officials say that all of the surge brigades reach their 15th month by August 2008."

In other words, when the last of the surge troops leave in August, the first ones to leave will have been home four months so we can send them again. In other words, soldiers will continue to be screwed until the election is over. Maybe longer depending upon who wins.

"Bush twists the facts on Iraq"

Sadly, that could be the headline for virtually any article about Bush and Iraq.

Also note that Bush, as usual, conflates Iraq with 9/11 because "it's all the same enemy."

Meanwhile, the 'National Religious Broadcasters'??? Who are they? According to their website, "the preeminent association of Christian communicators working to keep the doors of electronic media open for the spread of the Gospel" that "exists to represent the Christian broadcasters’ right to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world."

Such

a F***ing liar!

More lies to follow

McClatchy Newspapers is already reporting on a Pentagon study (due for release later this week) of over 600,000 documents from the Saddam Hussein regime. No mention of Al-Qaida in Iraq, or ties to any terrorist group identified as an enemy of the US. See the story here:

Everytime he

opens his mouth sh^t comes out, I blame hsi parents though, he should have a damn good thrashing as a boy grounded and made to wash his mouth out with soap and water, because people like him have always been liars, this is something that comes from childhood, especially families that don't correct this behaviour early on, and now the whole world suffers

whadaya know

Bush lied about Iraq in a speech. What a surprise.

The damage Bush and Cheney and their zombies have done to this country, and our government's credibility, is, by now, so profound that we may not repair that damage for a generation or more. I wonder if Bush, and Cheney, ever think about that at all.

worse than their lies, is the contempt they show when they tell them. They make it clear they hold their own constituents (including the press), in the deepest contempt. You generally don't lie so consistently, and so badly, to people you respect, do you?

I used to think I didn't entirely understand what evil really looks like. Hitler, Stalin, Mao...in my time these men could be recognized fairly easily as evil. Who knew that evil could wear a face like Bush's? A coke-addled frat boy in a suit. Delivery boy for the oil and defense industries. A Walker with delusions of grandeur and an unresolved oedipus complex.

He, too, is what evil looks like, it seems.

When The Republicans Lost Their Majority

Bush changed his tune from "Rumsfeld Stays" to "Rumsfeld Goes", so let's thank the Democratic majority for forcing Bush to replace Rumsfeld.

Even an idiot like Bush could read the meaning of the Democratic takeover of Congress. It was a repudiation of the Bush Administration's ongoing failures in Iraq and Rumsfeld's failed war strategy.

I mean, here's Bush stubbornly defending Rumsfeld by refusing to replace him, suddenly changing course immediately after the Election.

Let's give credit where credit is due. The American voters assumed the leadership that Bush was unable to provide and we gave him a well-deserved kick in the ass.

Well the old Bush is still at it, apparently, lying and twisting the facts.

US Military said "Damn the Legalities!"

The US Military may have been brought to the breaking point by Bush's Iraq war,but up till the present time they've enthusiastically gone along with Bush's agenda in Afghanistan and Iraq. The only thing the head brass of the US Military has said to anyone questioning the propriety or judiciousness of Bush's wars is "Damn the Legalities!"
