    Foster's victory

and Oberweiss' perennial failures say as much about the chaotic state of the Illinois Republican Party as anything. These were the folks who ran Alan Keyes against Obama in the 2004 Senate race after the original winner of the Republican Primary pulled out of the race. This was after it was revealed that his wife divorced him, in part, because he wanted to take her to "swingers" parties. No surprise from the party of family values.

Anyway, the hillbilly bible-thumping repubs in Southern Illinois and the cosmopolitan republicans in the Chicago area have been waging an entertaining culture war on each other for years. Oberweiss seems to be the only one both sides can agree to, despite his record of abysmal failure in politics.
