The senior foreign policy advisor had become a liability after recent negative comments about Hillary Clinton.
  • Politics vs Knowledge

"I'm not proud of what happened today. It makes me sad that Samantha Power resigned because she is a smart person who did something quite stupid. It was an impolitic remark. I don't see how it is any worse than Clinton on-record comparing Obama to Ken Starr (by her own admission, Starr is a monster). But clearly these remarks while understandable off the record in the heat of a tight campaign, otherwise were seriously wrong to make."

The problem with these folks is that they don't understand where politics begins and where expertise ends. Politics begins when you appear in public, unfortunately. If you appear in public, no one gives a crap if you are Jesus Christ. If you make an impolitic statement about the Canaanites, you get crucified, AGAIN, whether you are the son of god or not.

When you are in public, you must be very very very careful. Some years ago, I got involved in a suit against the school board, and learned in a hurry not to say ANYTHING in public. Regardless of what you said, you would get quoted out of context.

So, if you are a public person (that is, if you are an important aide to a Big Cheese like Obama), there is NO PRIVATE SPACE. NONE. You must NEVER say anything that could be remotely considered heated, nasty or anything else. Unless, of course, you are a Hillary thug, in which case people don't care if you say all kinds of nasty things about Obama - like accuse him of Ken Starr tactics.
