Letters to the Editor

Democratic leaders are beginning to believe they can win a 60-seat majority in the Senate in this fall's election and thus make themselves filibuster-proof.

McAlister, a 60 seat majority is NOT necessary. The republicans have never had it, and they have never needed it. Besides which, it's very unlikely that the Democrats will get either that or the veto proof majority in the House. We need Reid and Pelosi to take off the kid gloves and start fighting for every inch they can get. If that means they lose the Blue Dogs, let 'em go. I doubt they will last long in the GOP.

Anyway could you imagine if any of them old coots actually had to filibuster? They'd have to get porta potties brought to the floor of the Senate, also nice feather beds and blankies. They wouldn't last 48 hours...
