Bush, reluctant to give up the spotlight, endorses McCain In a Rose Garden press conference, the incumbent president delivered his endorsement, but seemed to think the moment was his, not John McCain's.

  • Good ol' boys to the last...

Let's hope that Bush, a man that McCain has "great admiration, respect and affection" for, follows him on the campaign trail. McCain has done nothing to renounce the lying, cheating and stealing ways of his terminally corrupt Republican party.

  • hogging the spotlight

And what about Bush's weird clowning around before McCain got there? You can count on the press to either laugh it off or ignore it. Has there ever been a President who treated the office with such disrespect?

  • Tit-for-tat I suppose.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008 13:57 EST Bush, reluctant to give up the spotlight, endorses McCain

The difference being that Bush probably didn't blow McCain afterwards, as I'm sure McCain did for Bush in 2004.

    Impeach now!

  • oath of office

I have the President's oath on the wall in my office. It says: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." Thank you, Alex, for that great reminder.

  • AND NOW, THE REAL STORY BEHIND THIS SCENE....

John McPAIN was MUTTERING UNDER HIS BREATH, "Hurry Up and SHUT THE _UCK UP, SHUT YOUR LOATHESOME YAP, you DERANGED CHIMPANZEE Bush, and STOP INTERRUPTING ME WHILST I WAX POETIC....." As was REPORTED by our _HIT-FLY on the wall behind the TWO DOPES George and John!!!!!

  • An Endorsement From The Idiot

    is the Kiss of Death.

    Goodbye John.

  • GWB and little bro, Jeb, will be in the spotlight....

Back in early February, Jeb Bush endorsed McCain, saying in a statement, "John McCain is a patriot and devoted conservative leader. Like no other candidate in the field, John McCain has made tremendous sacrifices for this nation. He is beholden to no interest other than that of the public good. He is determined and steadfast in his commitment to reducing the burden of high taxes, restoring the people's trust in their government, and winning the war against radical Islamic extremists. It is with pride that I announce my endorsement of John McCain for president."

Jeb's early endorsement was the quid pro quo for a spot on the ticket if McCain became the GOP nominee. Many would say a John McCain/Jeb Bush ticket would be politically unwise, even lunacy, given W's low approval numbers (and failures), but DO NOT rule it out. A McCain/Bush ticket would shore up the right-wing base, bolster McCain in the South, raise the chances that Florida would go to the GOP column in November, and keep the multiple investigations of the GWB/Cheney administration at bay if the McCain/Jeb Bush ticket won the Oval Office.

GWB was hogging the spotlight at his endorsement of McCain today because, in reality, the Bush Dynasty will continue -- it ain't going anywhere, anytime soon.

Remember, there are thousands of people who still think George W. Bush has done a heckuva job. I know hard to believe....but true.

  • Bush/McCain in 2008!

If Big John wants the right wing then he has to suffer the Village Idiot...with this endorsement he's connected at the hip with a walking failure...this year's roses will be long gone but the endorsement will be offered as a fresh bouquet each and every day of the fall by Democrats who'll extoll the country with "If you're better off now than 8 years ago, you'll LOVE the Bush/McCain ticket in 2008!"...

  • No more Protectors of the American people, please!!

Citizens of a free and truly democratic republic don't need a daddy protector. And it is clear from the wording of the oath of office that our founding fathers understood this very well. The president is to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." If the president does that, we can handle the rest. If the president does not then he/she is more dangerous to our liberties than all The Terrorists combined.

  • So...

I guess this means he has forgiven Bush for the race baiting campaign he conducted using McCain's adopted daughter in 2000?

I wonder how that conversation is going to go in twenty years or so. "Gee honey, I didn't defend you and I embraced those who attacked you because I really really wanted to be president".

    McCain the Cowardly Lion.

  • Why not just let Bush run again?

Having left his bootprints all over McCain's ass in 2000, you wonder why John didn't show W one of those clenched fists. Certainly you need a massive ego to play this game, and when only 1/4 of your employees trust the job you are doing, you need even greater self inflating qualities. Its not that people don't like Bush, they don't like the job he is doing. McCain is about half as likable, twice as competent. I agree with the other post, why not just let Bush run again?

  • @Trainman

You would think Bush's endorsement of McCain would be the kiss of death, but don't be too sure about that. Republicans have shown a stunningly persistent brand of denial and delusional logic that will effortlessly erase any meaningful connection between the two men.

  • "the only thing the president is sworn to protect is the Constitution"

As if Bush has worried over that for even a single moment.

I was watching McCain's speech last night, and I cannot honestly imagine how anyone can get excited over this guy. Truly, he has served his country, but at this point, and at his age there is nothing new in the offing. Just four more years of George W. Bush's bungled and failed policies.

  • Bush's new VP

McCon's constant kissing has apparently has given him a taste for Bush behind.

When George Whore Bush 'Bomb-bombs Iran', or he protects the country's oil and cocaine interests in Columbia--make NO mistake- the cocaine dollars are just as important to the American economy and the Bushes as oil--- it will throw the world into a tailspin. He'll then be able to assume the role of President for Life under the guidelines set forth under his Patriot Act. Dick Cheney will feign some kind of heart condition and cash in with his Haliburton Bucks. McCon will be in the perfect position to take the VP spot.

  • Campaigning with an anchor around his neck

Nice to see that Senator McSame is so willing to do anything to be President that he'll even give Little Georgie a public blowjob.

The Yale C student hands it off to the Annapolis cadet who graduated five from the bottom. Sounds pretty Republican to me.
