All the right wing pundits have already said as much
Limbaugh is encouraging Republicans to vote for Clinton in hopes that the primary drags on even longer.
-
Democrats shooting self in foot again
If Clinton does not win in Ohio and Texas, she should drop out. why can't Democrats see this? If she wins both (and she might) then she should stay in. Billious is right on this one.
-
Get on with Obama
Obama is handling McCain and Clinton simultaneously, and doing a pretty good job. If Obama were to outpoint McCain for any significant period of time, and then lose the nomination, that would take some air out of the Democratic balloon.
The way it seems at the moment, if Hillary wins, those high Democratic turnout numbers will come down to earth in the election, and the Republican swing voters who went for Obama will return to the McCain camp. The race suddenly gets a lot closer, so truncating this struggle should mean one thing, get on with Obama.
If it doesn't really mean that the Democrats are in trouble.
-
"I have a lifetime of experience. John McCain has a lifetime of experience. Sen. Obama gave a speech in 2002."
I hate to tell Howard Dean the damage has already been done. Hillary clinton has cut her own party's throat.
-
Gee
Hillary may get some right wing votes finally courtesy Limbaugh. God Knows how many Obama has gotten.
-
I'm not convinced
I don't know if I'm convinced that a long primary season will hurt the democrats. By the turnout numbers there is obviously an energized party, and there are two quite viable candidates.
I could be wrong, but I don't see a huge problem with this. The conventional wisdom says otherwise, but conventional wisdom would not have predicted that a woman and a black man would be fighting it out for a major party's nomination.
I say let them fight it out. Keep McCain's focus out-of-whack and sharpen skills for the general election, which will see some true nastiness.
-
If yapping away about nothing,
grabbing corporate bribes, and riding coattails is the prerequisite for someone becoming a president, that is.
and there are two quite viable candidates.
-
WES
So it's bad when it happens to Obama, and good when it happens to Hillary.
Got it. Thanks.

Reid-thin justifications
Harry Reid is a disgrace. If the Democrats sweep out the GOP this year, it'll be in spite of him, not because of him. His tepid followership completely screwed the pooch with the Democratic majority. If the Democrats do win handily this year, I hope they vote a new leader in the Senate, and that it's not frickin' Harry Reid.
-
No
It's not good or bad. Obama has just got a lot more.
-
Dean
IS it too late for him to join the race? The other two have just about convinced as many people as possible not to vote for them.
I'd rather vote for Kucinich or Dean but it looks like the Democrats really want me to vote for Nader.
-
the problem
The problem seems to be that Pennsylvania is what, seven weeks away?
Man, that's an ETERNITY, and based on the tone of the last two weeks, it will be one hellish eternity. I'm not saying Clinton should drop out even if she loses both big states tonight (that's just insane...the democratic party is still democratic in theory right?)...but it certainly hurts the Dems chances in November. Actually, it only hurts our chances if it maintains the nasty tone of the last two weeks. Although I suspect that if Hillary comes out big tonight, then her tone will change overnight and she'll be the Inevitable Candidate we had up until Iowa.
-
I got no problem with it, if...
If BOTH candidates comport themselves with dignity and grace, even more importantly, treat each other with dignity and grace and most importantly, the eventual loser, leaves the race with dignity and grace, I think dragging out the contest is good. Simply because the longer the Dems get to define themselves and control their own narrative, the less the impact will be when the right-wing/swiftboat machine goes into rabid attack mode in the general election.
-
@Notorious WES
Wes: "It's not good or bad. Obama has just got a lot more."
Really? What do you base that on? I haven't seen any articles about right-wing talk-show hosts urging their listeners to vote for Obama. If you have a link, please share it.
-
If she loses
If Hillary does not win by a big margin, (more thtn 65% both OH & TX) there will be pressure on her to to get.
I support Obama, but even if Obama wins today and the vote is close, I think Hillary should stay in until April.
I agree Obama is doing a great job responding to both Hillry and McCain at the same time. Yesterday I watched CSPAN "road to The white House". Obama was at a town meeting in TX. He was great on his feet answering questions. I then watched Hillary's speech in Tx. She was better than she has been the past 2 weeks, but Obama's presentation was much more presidential.
Obama's emotions seem to be more steady, while Hillary's emotions go way up, then way down, depending on how's she doing. Not a good sign for leading a nation.
-
What Do Ya Know
Obama has been met with a fierce press corp the last couple days as outlined in the Washington Post. It looks like they are coming out of their slumber. He was stumbling and stammering, and quickly said he had to leave.
-
This Gonna
Get interesting. Ain't no chance Hillary getting out when she gets a whiff of that FINALLY happening.
-
@ Xrandadu Hutman
I believe WES assumes part of Obama's popularity is that he appeals to a broad base of voters, rather than accept Obama is beating HRC amongst Dem voters only. I'm not sure, but I think WES thinks that is bad.
-
The Right Wing Talk Show Guys
Have been saying vote For Obama in the crossover states from the get-go.
-
And Besides That
Here, the one time one of them says vote for Hillary, his callers have been calling up and dumping on him. NO WAY.
-
A prolonged race will be good for the Dems...
...if the O-obsequious press finally gets off the dime and examines Obama for what he is (and isn't).
If the Dems lose in November with Obama as the nominee, don't blame it on a prolonged race. Glorification of an unexamined unknown "packaged" candidate in the lead-up to the general election will be the Dems downfall.
