Conservative journalist Robert Novak says Karl Rove wants to see a McCain-Romney ticket, but that some Romney supporters believe McCain's already promised the spot to someone else.

  • Please pick Romney!

Romney is less attractive and less interesting than some of the other VP possibilities. Romney would help Barack or Hillary win.

Rove himself and Cheney may be the only two Republicans with less attraction than Romney.

  • ...and then sneaky little Rove can keep his dirty fingers in the WH

I'd love to know McCain's real feelings on Rove. I'd guess they aren't positive. Does he really need to add Romney -deal with the devil- to get their actual (i.e. behind the scenes) support for the election?

Wow. They really are scared to let him take the reigns of presidential power on his own terms, aren't they?

  • Chuckle

McCain could never choose a Veep who's ten inches taller than him - how ridiculous he'd look at a podium with younger, more vital-looking Romney towering over him.

And Crist is a reasonable choice for McCain - he's already doing McCain another favor in trying to help Hillary Clinton to the Democratic nomination. Good state for him to draw a vice-presidential candidate from, too.

  • Does anyone care?

Does anyone even care what Karl Rove wants? Who the heck does he think he is?

I'm not a big Charlie Crist fan, but he'd be a much more attractive VP choice than Mitt Romney any day of the week for McCain. But, as a Democrat, I'm hoping McCain picks another old, boring white guy who's really out of touch with voter sentiment. Even though I totally agree with Barack Obama that John McCain is a true American hero. He is. But that's no more a qualification to be president than being a former First Lady.

  • If not Crist, there is always that other FL Gov...

    Jeb.

  • Chill out!

Crist will not be VP. Yes, it was widely reported in the local media that Crist held his endorsement ransom for the promise of being on the Veep *shortlist*, which McCain very well may have given in to.

But as much as this is a year of "firsts" -- first woman, first African-American -- the GOP (especially) is not going to seal its fate with the first gay VP nominee. Yup, snowbirds, it's true. It's rather an open secret in the St. Pete/South Beach/Key West gay scene, and more than a little ink has been spilled over it. Personally, I'd love to see a fellow St. Pete queer in the White House when McCain inevitably croaks, but it's just not gonna happen.

    Rove knows this.

  • Douchbag convention

Bob Novak: War monger, propaganda mouthpiece.

Karl Rove: Little twerp who is the "mastermind" behind the worst presidency on record, the complete decline and routing of his party, the worst foreign policy, and the flimsiest political tactics.

Romney: Will have to build the second and third Guantanamo prison camp by himself.

  • I hope it's Karl Rove himself.

Because watching McCain that old geezer strangle Rove with his bare hands on national television would be priceless.

  • Throwing Rice?

What about McCain/Rice? That would soooo play into cynical electoral Republicaneering, if that's not the ticket, I'll be very surprised. Although with "More. Of. The. Same." as their campaign slogan, I can't see it going very far.

  • Promised him a spot on the ticket?? He did more than that . . .

. . .I heard McCain secured Crist's endorsement by promising hot man-on-man-on-man sex with McCain, Crist and Larry Craig at the Seminole Rest Area at Mile Marker 94 on I-95 !!

    That's what I HEARD!!!

  • @bignose

OH MY GOD! That my friend is a scarier thought than your worst nightmare. That backroom dealing weasel attempted to subvert democracy in this state for his entire term, with such stuff as trying to circumvent class size ammendments against the "will" of the people. We won't even mention his machine handing his brother the election....

    John in Florida

  • Crist

Is the repugs way of getting Jesus on the ticket?

  • Holy Crist

I can't get past that Novak may had actually made an assertion with solid factual backing.

  • Hillary--- -Obama

If it's McCain and Rommey then on the democratic side it better be Hillary and Obama or the democrat's lose again.

  • Conspiracy theory

I think Romney floated the Crist rumor because he's incredibly mad that Crist is EVEN MORE HANDSOME than he is...

  • Wait a minute....

I heard that Cheney is being asked to find an appropriate VP. So it looks like it will be... Cheney!

  • @Slackie

I really think Condoleeza Rice is too smart to run as McCain's VP. I'm not that impressed with her handling of the Secy of State position, nor with any of her fawning over Pres. GWB during this administration, but I don't think she would throw herself off a political cliff.

She needs to refurbish her image as an independent thinker and do something else for a few years if she wants to get into politics. Right now, she's just seen as George Bush's lapdog.

Or maybe she's really serious that she isn't interested in politics?

  • Umm... Journalist?

I'm not sure who you're referring to. Do you mean douchebag for justice Robert Novak?

  • Rice is a no-go - No husband, no kids, no way!

Do you think GOP fundicrats will stand for an uppity black woman with no husband (other than GWB)?

  • I'm praying McCain picks Jeb Bush!!!

That would be a two birds, one stone situation.

In one stroke, it would show that McCain is really Bush III, and after losing by a landslide, it would hopefully put a stake in the heart of the Bush political dynasty.

  • Charlie Crist for V-P?

Why? Is Jeff Gannon/James Guckert unavailable?

  • Keeping the party going....

Come on, the McCain/Huckabee fix has been on for a while now... in fact, I am quite sure that whomever the nominee would be, Huckabee would be the VP choice. After all, he represents the lunatic religious right that got our war criminal commander in thief elected twice. The Lie, Cheat and Steal party will do anything to keep their machine going.

  • Dear lord

Any of these choices: Romney, Jeb Bush, Rice ... make me throw up in my mouth a little.

I actually think Rice sounds plausible: "Look! We're inclusive! We're diverse! Oh, and our black candidate is more experienced that your black cand ... Wait! Where are you going?..."

  • Slackie is correct

Condi would be their best VP candidate by far. Some of us have been saying that for months. Condi has a newish biography at book stores. Now that everybody seems to have forgotten about Iraq, Condi is tough. It will take both Barack and Hillary to beat her.

  • YOU CANT KEEP Karl FROM THE TROUGH....

Yep, YOU CAN'T KEEP Karl MISS PIGGY Rove from the trough, as he SHOVELS in with his DISGUSTING PUDGY SNOUT for a ROOTING SESSION that made him come up with the "brilliant" idea of teaming the flip-flopping pasty-faced schizoid madman John McPAIN with the empty-headed hollow-man Mitt Scarecrow of Romney Marsh! A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN? Putting aside the fact that these two CREEPS can't STAND EACH OTHER and HATE EACH OTHER'S GUTS WITH A PASSION, Rove believes in his DISEASED-RIDDLED FAT HEAD that they are a WINNING TEAM! In Lower Slobbovia elections, THAT IS!!!!! POOR Kar, he has LOST his GRASP on REALITY and is UTTERING MEANINGLESS RUBBISH, UTTER NONSENSE like this, AH, HOW THE ONCE-MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN, in Karl Rove's CASE, RIGHT ON HIS DISGUSTING FAT HEAD!!!!! And for that SENILE OLD PUTZ Robert Novak to RELATE SUCH IDIOCY SPEAKS A LOT OF ABOUT HOW TRULY DUMB AND STUPID Novak IS WHILE HE TRIES TO ACT SMART AND TIMELY! AS SMART AS THE TOWN FOOL WEARING THREE DUNCE CAPS AND AS TIMELY AS A BROKEN THREE-DOLLAR POCKET WATCH!!!!! HAH!
