Quarter of Clinton supporters would vote McCain over Obama

A survey by the Pew Research Center shows that, if their candidate were not the nominee, more Clinton voters than Obama voters would defect, and the Clinton campaign trumpets the results.

We are ruled by a majority of idiots.

Haven't we learned anything at all from the past seven years of George W. Bush? Apparently not, because a significant minority of Democrats are perfectly willing to throw the election to yet another unworthy Republican candidate purely out of spite. That's a helluva reason to vote for somebody. Sheesh!

This is an interesting twist

People seem to be assuming that Obama would be a better bet becasue Clinton voters would vote for him, but Clinton was a risk because his voter's wouldn't vote for her. In fact, Obama said as much. This turns things around a bit. It doesn't surprise me, though. I've been a Democrat for 25 years, and I've already decided I won't vote for Obama. I won't vote Republican or 3rd party, I'll just vote for downticket Dems and leave the President blank. I am half-tempted to vote for McCain, though. The idea of Obama in the hot seat when an emergency happens scares the heck out of me. The major problem with McCain is that he might not live out his term, and he's sure to have an extreme right-winger in the VP seat. Besides, he might just cater to the far right in putting another extremist on the Supreme Court - although the Dems in Congress should be able to prevent that.

And here's ANOTHER interesting thing

Independents will be deserting mcCain in droves as he moves rightward, rightward, rightward to court the Republican base. There's more yet to come with missteps in his campaign - he wasn't scrutinized a whole lot in the run-up to the primaries because he'd been written off last summer.

And Cindy "Monochrome" McCain will have to start talking one of these days, too - apparently she isn't much of an asset because she's always a couple of feet behind Senator M, and silent. She may be a drag on him when they start "vetting" her.

Interesting poll

This poll only confirms to me the toxicity of Hillary's campaign.

--Can we infer from these numbers that 25% of Hillary supporters really don't care to end the war in Iraq? so many scenarios to iterate.

--Can it be that 25% of Hillary's supporters would rather vote for a white man than an African-American?

--Can it be that 25% of Hillary supporters are but cross over Republicans who will vote for McCain anyway?

--Can it be

Negative Campaigning

Well it looks like the negative campaigning by Clinton has probably worked after all. I voted for Obama but now I guess I should accept that Clinton's slash and burn techniques have won and I should support her.

Go team!

Racism is not dead but it would be the deciding factor

Not surprising, although I think those numbers will move back after Democratic voters learn more about McCain. A lot of Democrats - thanks to the Media - are under the illusion that McCain is almost a Democrat himself. They are simply shocked to learn that immigration is his only real difference with his party and his position on that isn't a winner with this segment of the Demcoratic party either.

The truth is that there is still a lot of racism among white Democrats who live in area where there is a large number of poor African Americans. I grow up in the Detroit area and I can tell you that probably half the white people in those areas have negative ideas attached to the word Black. In contrast, People who live in areas where there are very few Black people, and those few are usually of their own economic class, tend to not be raciest. It was for that reason that I was not surprised that Obama carried predominetly white states, and states where most of the Democrats are Black, while loosing the Clinton in states with a fairly even mix of White and Black Democrats. That's why I have predicted from the start that Obama would carry Texas and loose Ohio.

This is consistant with her slash-and-burn candidacy.

And it reeks to hell of sour grapes. Nevermind. It comes as no surprise to me that Clinton cares more about herself then the good of the country.

"Won't vote for me? By God, we'll show them!"

Another reason I'm not voting for her in the primary.

Classic Clintonspeak: 75% for Obama is bad, 25% for McCain is good

Well, since Hillary announced today that McCain is a better candidate than Obama this story makes sense. I do want to thank Hillary for admitting she's really a neo-con in Dem's clothing, but then her entire smear campaign since Iowa had already proved that to me. What is more, this poll proves who's supporters are the least loyal to their own party. What really saddens me is 75% of Clinton's supporters would still support Obama should he become the nominee, yet Phil "The headcase" Singer feels that 25% of her support is the more important number. Whatever losses Obama might incur here would be more than eclipsed by his support among independents and Obamacans, while Hillary can barely win the support of 50% of her own party. Hillary acts like winning the party's nomination by appealing only to the worst in her base is smart politics, but she only guarantees McCain will wipe the floor with her in the general when the independents flock to him. Team Hillary cares not for the influx of new voters brought to the party by Obama, all she cares about is winning at any cost. May I therefore offer this gem as a suggestion for Hillary's post-March 4th theme:

"Damn the party, full speed ahead!"

With us or against you

a quarter of Hillary Clinton's primary supporters would defect and vote for John McCain in November, while only 10 percent of Barack Obama's supporters would do the same.

Gotta love those Clintonites, so committed to a Democratic win that they'd vote Republican in 2008 if conservative HR Clinton doesn't get coronated. With "friends" like that in the Democratic Party, who needs enemies?

@ Slackie Onassis

Can we officially call this 25% the "Gloria Steinem" wing of the party?

Ironic

For weeks, Daily Kos has been full of Hillary Clinton supporters claiming that "Obama is riding of misogyny to the nomination" and similar such garbage. I don't know how the Pew poll can be seen as anything but racism and Hillary Clinton is trumpeting it. Shameful does not even begin to describe her behavior.

Adding to Hillary Clinton trail of disgraceful behavior is her saying "as far I know" Obama is not a Muslim on 60 minutes and saying McCain is better qualified to be President than Obama.

If anyone should be defecting from the Democratic Party over the nominee, it ought to be Obama supporters as Hillary Clinton has proven this week that she does not give a damn about the Democratic party and it's all about her. I'm starting to think she'd prefer a McCain win if Obama is nominee because it would give a her another shot in 2012.
