It is Time for Hillary to suspend her campaign.
She will lose nine straight states after Hawaii. Her campaign is in disarray. How much more money she give her own campaign is part of the bigger question: How big of egomaniac is she? Only time will tell folks!

It Looks Like She Got Waxed
Thank goodness! This is, I hope, a victory for those sick to death of dirty tricks, lies, and obfuscation propagated by Clinton. At the start of this race, HRC was not at the top of my list but she wasn't at the bottom either. However, over time, I have seen her sacrifice everything of value, her integrity, ethics, humanity, for the "ring of power." I'd like to see it all end soon with her soundly defeated.

Settle down now
OK -- now maybe the Democrats can settle down. Barack Obama has proven he can win across many different demographic groups, across Red and Blue states, across the country. It would be an act of tremendous statesmanship for the Clinton's to give this up and agree to pull together with the party, support Barack Obama, and get on with defeating John McCain. He has proven he can win the election; his policies are not that different from hers; she will have a huge influence in the coming government and there is no one in the Democratic party who will write her off and not expect her to play a major role. So now it's just about ego -- dragging it out. If she wants to prove she is not a divisive figure, this is her moment. If she keeps on going negative and desperately trying to hang in to the end she could blow up the party and weaken the chances of a Democratic win. So the question now is: Is this election about Hillary and the Clinton legacy? Or is this election about a change in direction and a relief from the misery of the last 7 years?

Meanwhile, Clinton...
...is giving a speech in Youngstown, Ohio. I'm from there, and there's probably no better place for somebody in her desperate situation than Youngstown, which has been doing a slow death spiral since the 70s, when the steel mills closed. Her lectern has "SOLUTIONS" on it in big letters. That choice of venue is indicative of her continuing blue island strategy, since Youngstown is one of the few true-blue regions remaining in Ohio. A campaign on the defensive, in retreat.

Desperation recognized for what it was
According to exit poll data, Obama won among voters who decided in the last week by 16 points. Guess that whole manufactured controversy about Obama's "plagiarism" sorta backfired.

well said ... I have felt exactly the same way about the Clinton campaign ... she really blew it.
I laugh about all the talk of "cultish" Obama supporters - it's almost like HRC was doing everything she could to heard all her potential supporters with a brain over to the Obama camp. I'm very pleased with Obama's performance and the tone of his campaign, but on the other hand, I have to say that I am sad for Hillary ... it really didn't have to be this way for her. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end to the long eras of dirty politicking.

To Hillary supporters
Dear Hillary supporters,
Your candidate is a brilliant woman. She is a logical and detailed thinker, a self-confessed "policy wonk," and she's well-educated and well-informed. She has a big role to play in the future of our country. In my opinion, she would be an incredible Supreme Court Justice. If she is able to let go of her pride and her frenzied ambition to be president, let go of having to "prove" something, and look beyond politics, she could offer her country a lot.
A lot of us who support Obama do not dislike Hillary (although you couldn't necessarily tell that from reading Salon posts). A lot of us really like and admire Hillary, and really liked our other candidates, too, but chose Obama after considerable reflection. We don't wish Hillary ill. We want her to flourish and stay in service to her country and continue to offer her ideas and contribute. We believe she really does love and want to serve America.
It isn't going to work out for her as president. But there is much more for her to do. She could step up with grace and dignity, now, and serve us all by ending the negativity and the waste of resources that is dragging out this campaign.

Hillary needs to continue to rough him up, set him up
for McCain. She has to keep this fight alive, and make it as dirty as possible. She has a better chance to run in 2008 against McCain than she'd have in 2112 following two terms of Obama. She will soften him up for McCain's kill.
