  • @ @Slackie Onassis

    You can say that again!

Hope springs eternal, that Hillary will stop rattling Obama's cage, other wise, there'll be hell to pay. Letting the fur fly, may feel like a no brainer, but ultimately, what goes around, comes around.

So, give it a rest Hillary. This last ditch effort, this dog, won't hunt.

  • Wow, Xrandadu, I never knew that

    about "just deserts." Cool.

(For everyone else, "deserts" is spelled this way b/c it means "that which is deserved," and is not related to the later meaning attached to the word, "dry, arid place." So, when one receives and appropriate consequence, whether good or bad, one gets his/her "just deserts.")

PS Sorry to lecture if you all knew this already. Congrats, X, my friends rarely get a new one past me :)

  • When did Hillary...

attribute "Si Se Puede" to Chavez? Or her cackling laugh to the Wicked Witch of the West? For shame!

  • Gee

I wonder why the Clintons caused such polarization and partisanship. Maybe because they are the only democrats that could beat them........nah.

  • @Alex Koppelman: Chelsea Clinton link

    I managed to find it:

  • This Stuff

About Obama ending the partisanship and bickering and stalemate, is pure fantasyland. It's televangelism.

  • Biden plagiarized Kinnoch's LIFE, not just his words

Biden stole Kinnock's hardscrabble lower class coal miner life story, not just a few powerful rhetorical lines.

I think this charge has backfired on the Clinton campaign. The plagiarism per se isn't catching people's attention, but the media is drilling the powerful words themselves into people's consciousness. Do words matter? Yah hey. Like voting "yes" for war.

Biden came across as a liar, but Obama is getting his point across again and again in Wisconsin.

  • Can we please have a moratorium on false hypothetical equivalencies?

i.e., "If your candidate were doing it, you would applaud it!"?

If you have examples of someone's candidate actually having DONE the thing and the specific supporter you have in mind having applauded it, then please provide the quote. Otherwise, it's just a dumb thing to say, in every. single. case.

  • God help us

Re: "I'm troubled that the "plagiarism" message might be a subtle attempt at equating Obama with MLK and marginalizing him racially..."

Oh brother. Obama lifts whole chunks of his speeches from other people and by pointing this out, Hillary is now racist. Of course. Racism. That's Plan B when Obama screws up.

Obama's whole campaign is based on words, and he's too lazy to make sure that his speechwriters actually write original speeches for him to read. Today when he was talking about the subprime crisis, he had even less credibility with me than he did before. He doesn't know anything about the economy!

I thought the GOP were idiots for nominating an empty suit like Reagan and a moron like Dubya, but our party is just as stupid!

  • Yes We Can

The United Farm Workers endorsed Hillary and co-founder Dolores Huerta campaigns with her. Huerta is the one who actually coined the slogan "Yes We Can/Si Se Puede" and copyrighted it.

  • Anybody remember Greg Brady and his "exact words"?

It somehow feels relevant. Like, if the Clinton camp wants to play this plagiarism game, it's going to come back to bite them.

Jesus, I'm starting to feel really, really bad about this whole election. My son, a soon-to-be-18-year-old told me the other day, "Mom, I have a feeling it's going to be President McCain." This kid is psyched about voting for the first time and really likes Obama, but the cynicism is beginning to sink in. He has watched me stump for losers all his life and I think he's beginning to get the picture: Whoever Mom wants doesn't win.

  • Oh good...

so since Patrick endorsed Obama, this is all a non-issue.

  • This. Is. Lame.

This is the kind of "scandal" I would expect from the Republicans. And yet, somehow I'm just not all that surprised to see "supporters" of Sen. Clinton trafficking in it...

  • God Help Us...

"Obama's campaign is based on words..."

What is Hillary's based on? Deeds? Real experience (that is significantly longer, greater, deeper than Obamas)?

No, it is based on inevitability, and that is why she is struggling.

The whole logic of Clinton supporters is to dismiss Obama and the idea of "hope" as empty...and yet, isn't that exactly what is being done by Clinton supporters...they "hope" that Hillary really has the experience she claims, that she's able to "go to work on day one" as she claims, that she really commands the facts, as she claims.

But there is something more: they hope that in spite of what she has said, acted or voted (specifically about the war) that deep down she believes what they believe. They forgive her her say anything, do anything triagulations Rove-light campaign because the HOPE that once she is there, somehow, somewhere she will find the true Hillary (the one who teared-up in New Hampshire) and all will be right.

They hope she is a secret liberal. They hope she is a secret moderate. They hope.

There is no real experience to butruss that hope, merely words of assertion (another thing the Clinton claim Obama does that is not legitimate).

So while words should matter...and Obama, like Hillary should be held accountable for those they use...ultimately, the Clintonites count on words not mattering at all. It is their action, their strategy, their willingness to say and do anything that matter...what wreckage they leave in their wake matters little.

  • Dessertification

Not sure if you're just goofing around here, but the expression is "just deserts." (People often get this backwards, and correcting it when it's already correct.)

I was just playing with words, but thanks for having my back; I thought if I wrote "just deserts" the Clintonites would accuse me of being an elitist Obama supporter/cultist. Still, Clinton is going to be wanting just desserts once she gets her just deserts at the polls today.

  • that's the differance

    "@rufus

    Please stop...you're not helping!

    thank you.

    -- debaser "

I don't give shit. That is the differance. I do not far the gop spin machine (clinton included) like you do. For all the fear of" what the gop will do". I for one don't give a rat's bottom. old folk die out eventually. Whether it's now, or in four years. Whether Obama is democratic nominee or not. Whether the country goes independant in the future or not, due to zero credibility and accountability.

REgardless the gop is done(clinton included). It's just a waiting game. What did clinton do while bush was destroying the country? Was she fighting him or enabling him? I know I know, her votes are obama's fault. I know everything is the "liberals" fault. Lack of accountability and crediility killed the gop, clinton included. What are you afriad of? One last ditch effort?

This coutnry WILL NOT BE SILENCED ANYMORE BY RIGHT_WING FASCISTS. We will not be silent. We tried that for 5 years, didn't accomplish much. The gop cannot be reasoned with. Traitors who sell their country out for money should be in jail. Not feared for what they may or may not say in their own defense. You old folk are nuts.

So no. I will not be quite. Without people like me fighting for obama and fighting for equal voice on the internet he would not be where he is. We must combat the gop and those p[laying divide and conquer, not fear them. To fear the fascists to to eneabel them. To sulk in fear is to give them power.

do not fear the fascists (clinton included). The only power they have is the power WE give them, as americans. The right is represented in the media on the internet and in politics. The left? Not so much. We're always told to sit down and be quite. We do not have all the dough so we do not have a voice. I disagree. And I will never back down. To back down is to allow the gop and their slime mcahine to win.

Again, do not fear or back down from the lying propogandists for profit. Lying to the elderly daily for money. Divide and conquer for profit. Do not fear them. to silence your self. to elect your candidate based on what they may or not say, is to give them your power. Do not give the gop (clinton included) your power or your vote. Speak your mind and ignore the facsit propogating peanut gallery. This coutny is not their s to give us. MAjority rule remember. If the gop (clinton included) does nto want that, then they are not americans. Just living here.

Obama's power is not him. He is not the figure head. HE merly represents the mvoement. This is a bottom up movement. We are not dittoheads. We think for ourselves. We will not allow other sto do our thinking for us. We will not allow our will (the american people)to be reflected and defracted by propogandists for profit.

We will nto be quiet any longer. And we will vote. So that's what time it is. Now ,four years, independant party. Either way america is getting our country back. It cannot and will not be stopped. No matter how scared old ladies are of the gop fascist spin machine. LEt them dig their holes deeper. Think about the future.
