  • Tying McCain to GWB...

The current President Bush has not officially endorsed McCain, but in an interview on Fox News this past Sunday, he did call McCain "a true conservative," something important for a Republican base that's still decidedly wary of its presumptive nominee.

And something we can kick him in the teeth with come the general election.

  • Not only that

But Bush 1 is perhaps much more liberal himself then the RNC loyals would tolerate. After all, "No New Taxes" sunk his reelection bid.

Also do not discount the personal hatred Bush 2 has for McCain. It's clear and obvious that Bush 2 personally loathes the man and would beat him to death with a pool cue given the chance.

  • This makes sense

I guess Bush Sr. is sending a message to his NWO bankster pals:

"this McCain guy wasn't a cocaine smuggler and doesn't appear to be involved in international drug dealing type activities, you know, the type of US President that you have grown accustomed to, but don't worry, he's cool with everything."

  • This will tell...

It would be proper for Bush Junior to sit out on endorsement. He has done that so far. But Bush Jr. is anything but proper.

Bush Sr. supports McCain, maybe, because he fears Bush Jr. will try a coup, and cancel the elections. Stay tuned.

  • I'm sure McCain is waiting anxiously...

...for that W endorsement. That'll surely give him the "torture mom"/"war crime dad" vote.

  • I just gotta laugh...

What do Republicans think the American electorate is going to want in November? More failed Bush policies via McCain? I don't know how these bozos think they can win.

  • Breathlessly waiting

All the snooze, all the time

  • And here in Democrat Land....

Off in GOP land they've managed to put forth their strongest candidate. POW, experienced, hails from Arizona and is good for the western competitive vote, is popular with Chicanos and with independents and is widely famous for being a "moderate" Republican. He's got the nomination nailed without even so much as tight contest in ANY the big electoral states, has been endorsed by his closet competitors, the hated radical right is on a collective mission to make sure everyone knows they hate him so he can sweep up those independent voters and he's off to 300+ well-heeled experienced and formidable GOP subsidiaries for money.

And here in Democrat land, we've got our strongest candidate all but defeated, are all set to put up a young, junior senator with no experience and a crooked background who has a has been endorsed publicly by every crackpot and hated leftie from Kennedy to Naral to Moveon.org, and who ran such a filthy, dishonest campaign that he's completely alienated himself from all of his contestants voters AND her vast network of experienced, competent in-house connections.

It's the end of February and as this continues DNC "leader" still pissed off with the center left wing of the party has sat on his hands and done nothing. The litmus-test lefties of moveon.org and salon.com are now screaming to ensure this prospectively absymal junior senator becomes the candidate out of inherent "fairness" to some skewed caucuses of lefties and blacks.

This is the end of the line. Even for the left famous for shooting itself in both feet this is just surreal. We will never ever recover from this. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory - the left couldn't find it's way out of a closet with a flashlight and a map.

Say good-bye to healthcare, social security, unions pensions and probably jobs forever. Hillary's Iraq vote was just soooooooooooooo much more important.

    &^%@^&*^#*#*!

  • Well, in one public slam to his father, GWB said Dick Cheney is the greatest vice president EVER...

...and to compound the familial insult, he made a joke that his mother would disagree with him on that assessment. So, I suppose Little George will declare martial law, cancel the election, start another preemptive war, or drink more to prove he's the REAL man in the family.

But, an endorsement of McCain? Only if Karl Rove tells him it's necessary.

  • Uh-Duh. it's the money

Poppy's endorement opens literally hundreds of millions of dolllars to McCain. It's his globally rich fundraising connections, Virginia.

  • To Anonymous

Which candidate fares better in polls against McCain, Clinton or Obama?

  • To the Anonymous

Wow. Talk about a defeatist attitude. I'd say it's a problem with politics today, that people get so tied up with one candidate that they can't see any good in any other candidate, but from what I've read it's been that way all through this country's history. And by the way, Hillary Clinton is also a Junior Senator.

  • McCain is a red herring; Rove will field an independent ticket after derailing Clinton

The Bush/Cheney oil aristocracy is acting tactically at the moment. McCain is not their candidate and they will eventually (I believe) field an independent ticket. However, the first order of business is to get Clinton out of the race and that requires heavy republican crossover voting in the democractic primary in Texas. The districts have already been gerrymandered by Tom Delay, so there are probably enough republicans to tip most of the delegates to Obama. The trick is to get voters to accept McCain as the inevitable nominee on the G.O.P. ticket. If Obama triumphs, Rove and the G.O.P. will ride him like a trojan horse into the Democratic convention. Obviously, since they've been funding him from the start, and helped him win his senate seat in that bizarre election in 2004, they know they've got the goods on him in the fall. The Democrats' only hope may be to pick Clinton with the superdelegate vote, and the courage may or may not be there for that. For more on the Rove strategy, see the article I've posted at thecityedition.com, which links to other sources.

  • My Arizona GOP parents LOATHE McCain and might even vote for Obama if it comes to that

    But Hillary? Not a chance.

  • Endorsements? What about a reality check of the Rhetorical Wonder? Don't hold your breath.

Do Media Give Obama A Pass On His Plans?

By DAVID IGNATIUS | Posted Thursday, February 14, 2008 4:30 PM PT

"Why is the press going so easy on Barack Obama?" asks a prominent Democratic Party strategist, echoing a criticism frequently made by the Clinton campaign.

It's a fair question, and now that Obama appears to be the front-runner in terms of his delegate count, he deserves a closer look, especially from people like me who have written positively about him.

The reason to look closely now, quite simply, is to avoid buyer's remorse later.

Obama is a phenomenon in American politics — a candidate who has ignited an enthusiasm among young people that I haven't seen in decades.

He promises a nation in which, as his supporters chant, "race doesn't matter."

And for a world that is dangerously alienated from American leadership, he offers a new face that could dispel negative assumptions about America — and in that sense boost the nation's standing and security.

    But these are symbolic qualities.

What Obama would actually do as president remains a mystery in too many areas. Before he completes what increasingly looks like a march to the Democratic nomination, Obama needs to clarify more clearly what lies behind the beguiling banner marked "change."
