  • Ha ha -- what a dumb commercial

Hillary Clinton might as well have released a TV ad that said,

"Look, I'm losing badly, and I'm desperate. Why won't Barack Obama give me a chance to insult him to his face and make him look bad in Wisconsin? I mean, throw me a bone here! Sure, we've already done 26 debates or whatever, but I need a miracle, and isn't it only fair for Obama to hand me one on a platter? I mean, come on, fair fight, right? I'm going to need some momentum before rolling into Texas and Ohio, and I sure as hell am not going to get it when the Wisconsin voters deliver Obama another landslide win. So please -- oh, plesae -- won't Obama give me the chance to trip him up publically? Even though I missed that chance time and time again? I'm dyin' here!"

Followed by: "I'm Hillary Clinton, and I approve this ridiculously desperate message."

  • Obam has no ideas except the ones he steals from Hillary

That commercial is right on the money. NObama is an empty suit who is afraid to debate Hillary alone.

NObama favors free trade with Peru. And notice how he is stealing Hillary's economic program? Now he wants Green Collar jobs like her, only he doesn't know anything about them.

    He will say ANYTHING.

Okay, I am trying to get what exactly is the problem with Trinity United Church of Christ's 10-point vision in and of itself. (I know there are issues w/the pastor but that is another discussion.)

Many of these ten-points could apply to any (liberal) Christian congregation: adoration, salvation, reconciliation, biblical education, cultural education, liberation, restoration, and economic parity. Indeed, I belong to a Reform Jewish congregation and, with the exception perhaps of the first 2 (since those are Christian concepts, not so much Jewish or at least not in the same way) these could easily be part of our vision statement. With respect to non-negotiable commitment to Africa and historical education of African people in [the] Diaspora - why is this a bad thing? Shouldn't we all have a non-negotiable commitment to Africa and indeed all continents and the people who live there? And there is something wrong with teaching the history of African-Americans who were stolen from Africa to be slaves in America? Further, in my congregation we have a non-negotiable commitment to Israel (but that does not necessarily mean an inflexible "Israel right or wrong" stance)and we do seek to provide our members and their children an understanding of the history of the Jewish people in the Diaspora.

Although this church states that it is "unashamedly" black - does it exclude non-blacks? Is that information on their website? It would be helpful to know all the details so one can make a judgment. My congregation is "unashamedly" Jewish but we do not exclude non-Jews.

FINALLY, although I feel compelled to respond to some of these posts - what ON EARTH do they have do with Hillary's campaign ad????!!!??? Is there a reason people can't stay on topic and not go off on tangents about Obama's church, his statement about the Afghan/Pakistan border, some creepy Gein person, a slimy slumlord, and all of the other wingnut posts.

Alex Koppelman's article was about a Clinton ad and gave us an opportunity to view the ad. The posts should have to do with analyzing the ad itself and not going off in irrelevant, unrelated and downright bizarre directions. Can't folks find another place to post these off topic letters??

  • I don't want to hear either of them anymore

I don't want to hear anymore speeches or debates from either candidate. I would rather have a national televised town hall meeting. It would be more benefical for the people and the candidate.

  • @Obama and the Iraq War -- jwc693......you write

    Obama and the Iraq War

I'm an Obama supporter but someone just told me that he has funded the Iraq War up until recently. Is that true? I was under the understanding that he was against the war. Very confused.

    ==============

Are you serious? You just found that out? That your hero has voted the same way as Hillary Clinton has on war funding since he got into the Senate? You know, of course, he wasn't a Senator when the "infamous" vote took place that Hillary has been pilloried for? So, how do we know how he would have voted, if he had been in the Senate.

He's also bashing Senator Clinton on NAFTA today, but he supports expanding it into Peru. Watch the weasel carefully. All this feel-good bullshit from him is gonna let you down with a thump.

  • Sorry, Cecilbeanie, I wasn't riveted by your religious affiliation. It would have all thr impact of a flatulent flea on me

You don't agree with lateral thinking, it would seem. Very simply, Ed Gein had unresolved problems with his mother's martinet authority and it emerged in the most macabre way imaginable. There is no denying that sections of your media seem unwilling to accept the concept of a female President and Schuster's "pimping out" remark to a parent about a daughter certainly has sexual connotations. If a man whose business is words - Schuster - doesn't know the lon-establishe, orthodox meaning of such a word, his journalistic ability shoul be called ino question and also whyhe is harbouring such imsges in his mind, which are clearly disrespectful of a woman or even women in general. If you can't see any connection, that's your problem but it has been "open season" on the first female candidate for quite some time now.

Perhaps you would like censorship of views that don't accord wit yours. The question of violating the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan is absolutely relevant to Senator Obama's foreign policy. Haven't you already invaded one country - Iraq - with disastrous consequences? I don't think it would be a good idea to invade Pakistan even if it was merely a "technical" crossing of the border. I can't be bothered writing any more about this just now. It's my bedtime. You are more interested in theological matters - the Church led by Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the Reformed Jewish synagogue you attend and that, of course, is extremely relevant although I was none the wiser about the bekiefs of Reformed Jews, after all your huffing and puffing
