Way to go CPAC!
They should include ol' Ronnie in the poll next time, to really demonstrate their grasp of reality.
2008 GOP - the train wreck that keeps on giving...
-
CPAC to Romney...
"I wish I knew how to quit you"
-
Romney will make a fine nominee.
McCain is just too crazy even for the RNC.
-
The man in the Edgar suit
only lost by one vote. Hardly reason to worry. I mean, Romney isn't in the race anymore and such, but geese neither is McCain. Oh, he is? Time to worry...
-
Romney...another draft-dodger.
Those patriotic, flag waving, bomb loving Republicans sure love their chickenhawks, now don't they.
McCain just makes them look bad. A real veteran who doesn't need to make up bullshit excuses for his draft dodging.
An extra insult, I hear, is Romney spent his draft deferment doing Mormon mission work......in France! Maybe he was getting the recipe for "Freedom Fries". You can't write this shit.
-
So...
Seriously, does anyone really care what a group of post-teenage dorks who have never been laid thinks?
-
I KNOW THE FEELING
I still want Dodd; so I can understand the reluctance to give it up.
But, when your choices are McCain "100 years in Iraq" and "more wars"; Romney many "more Gitmos" (he's gets to be a god, you know, in the next life); and all of the above, plus amending the Constitution to start with "Thou shalt have no other God before me" (Huckabee), I don't see how the conservatives have anything to complain about. All three fit their bill.
-
CPAC picks Romney
Given that the straw poll was taken after Romney dropped out, isn't that rather like voting for a dead man?
-
McCain is SO vulnerable!
This guy's own people don't like him or don't trust him. I think that Huckabee is finally going to stop running for second place now, if only 'cause he's ticked about Washington State (loved that "soviet-style politics" comment, Huck!). And I think Republicans as a whole are just frustrated that they don't have any really exciting choices.
Unlike us. Where people are WAY excited.
I think that that some of us underestimate both our candidates and ourselves. When the primary fight is over, we'll turn our eyes to the other side and win this thing. But that doesn't mean that someone should just concede the primary fight. Which is exactly the kind of hippie nonsense they're talking about over on the Republican side. And it's beautiful to watch.
My feeling is that when McCain gets this, there is going to be a LOT of talk about write-in votes and "worse-is-better-so-vote-for-the-democrat votes and a lot of simply no vote-votes.) And yes, I know it's a long way to November, but how much of a benefit is that to McCain really? The guy is volatile and liable to say anything between now and then. He's got entrenched enemies. He's old. And he's wrong on the issues that matter most to Americans.
Plus, I honestly don't think there is a single negative thing in the world that hasn't been said about HRC, including about a million lies, so what else can they come up with? And I just don't think there is much dirt to dig up on Obama and that's why they've had to start lying straight out of the gate, hence the, "He's either a black Christian extremist or Black Muslim Extremist" nonsense. The guy doesn't have decades of experience in and around public office and so he hasn't had time to be associated with enough people and/or situations that could lead to trouble, even if he wanted to.)
Tony Rezko is not going to be nearly the big deal people want it to be. Unless Democrats let it.
I'm feeling pretty good.
-
Little off topic
Are Americans not tired of all the endless 24/7 election coverage?
It's interesting theatre but shouldn't people be paying attention to what's happening in the world?
Seems like election time is like American Idol for political junkies, it's all that exists in the world.

Proves that the "conservative movement" is a fraud
CPAC and most of the corporate-controlled "conservative grassroots" outfits have convinced gullible right-wingers that "real conservatives" are whatever corporations say they are.
The only difference between Romney and McCain might be that by the dictionary definition, McCain is slightly more conservative (and we're talking shades).
-
Why vote?
All I hear these days is that McCain isn't worth voting for, Hillary isn't worth voting for, . . .
Only halfway through the election campaign, and the choices have already been narrowed down to the four people HATED by large numbers of people, many of them member of their OWN party!
Democracy in 21st Century America - where you can't even vote for your own candidate without holding your nose. How did it come to this?
-
Why vote? - The Small Town Hick
You raise a good issue. If the general election is Clinton v. McCain, there really is no reason to vote. Both candidates will be almost identical in policy and agenda. Only the names and party affiliations will be different. It’s like the old Chinese menu with a choice from Column A or Column B, it’s still the same Chinese food from the same kitchen.
In a fascist state, such has developed here stealthily over the last 30 years, part of the role of the media is to create such confusion, frustration and apathy among he electorate that fewer people vote. The less people vote, the fewer which notice how limited the choices actually are and the easier it is to run things.
Fascism is simply the corporations running the government, to paraphrase slightly Benito Mussolini regarding the merger of State and corporate power.
The photo today of Hillary Clinton and Rupert Murdoch* is very telling. He supports Hillary for the same reasons he supports the Republicans; there is no difference in any way except a perception on the part of the general public which is created by the media which he largely owns.
Basically in a “choice” between Clinton and McCain, it comes down to do you prefer Rupert Murdoch’s government with a pants suit or a traditional business suit?

"LOGICAL" CPAC AND THE right-wing-nut MENTAL-ity
The "logical" thought processes of the MENTAL-ity of right-wing-nuts like the CPAC who put Mitt SCARECROW of Romney MARSH over John McCain in their STRAW-man(Scarecrow)poll is the same MENTAL-ity that led to their DEFEAT when their "Golden Boy" John Ashcroft was DEFEATED by a DEAD MAN, the late great Mel Carnahan in an election! Just goes to show you the STUPIDITY and CUPIDITY of the right-wing-nuts like the CPAC, which leads to their OUTRAGEOUS ACTS as exemplified in the persons of the deranged chimpazee and war criminal IN-Curious Fuhrer George W. Bush the TURD(III) and Reichsfuhrer Torticola Richard B. Cheney!
