World leaders, particularly Western republics like our own, need strong, charismatic leaders who will be able to rally as many people as possible behind them if they want their legislation to see the light of day. Reagan did this for the republicans, which is why is revered as a hero amongst that ilk. Bill Clinton could fall under this category as well.
Hillary may be sharp and strong, but she does not have half the charisma her husband did, but is somehow twice as divisive. She will have to fight tooth and nail to get even the smallest things done because like it or not, there is a knee-jerk resistence to her from all sides. For this reason, America will be in tatters and even more polarized when she is done with it, and the backlash is going to be unlike anything we've ever seen before.
This is why I'm an Obama supporter. Not only is he smart, ambitious, idealistic, and politically savvy, but he has the charisma to bring people who would otherwise not get involved to his side to get something done. One only needs to look at the energy of his supporters, most of whom have been completely shut out of the democratic process, to see that this is true.
If that's a cult of personality, so be it. Give me my grey sweatsuit and white sneakers and let me know when the comet is approaching.
OBAMA WILL LOSE GENERAL ELECTION
What is curious is that they think he is some kind of peace candidate.
One can only hope that when push comes to shove, they will sign up to serve in Pakistan.
Pakistan? You mean the place that is a base for the Taliban resurgence and actually has al Queda training camps?
Sometimes people like yourself and Hillary Clinton mistake places like which actually pose a threat to our national security with places like Iraq.
Let me know if you guys need any more clarification on that.
By the way, did you volanteer to fight in the war that your candidate authorized?
NEXT.
Krugman's bias against Obama is pretty glaring in this column. Most of the venom in this campaign is coming from the Clintons. Bill got it started with the "fairytale" comment and then writing off Obama as just another Jesse Jackson. Saying Obama supporters are hero worshippers is ridiculous when all we will get from another Clinton presidency is more gridlock. We want a new direction and Obama can make that happen.
Hate to say it but Krugman's got a point. In the last San Francisco mayor's race we saw Matt Gonzalez' supporters go so completey over the top in smearing Newsom that they killed their candidate. I was leaning toward Gonzalez - he's my local supe and he seemed like he'd be a great mayor - but his supporters turned the campaign into some ridiculous cultish crusade and they scared away all but the most fervent Gonzales-worshippers.
I'm a middle-aged liberal fellow and I voted for Obama. I'm just saying, watch it...
As a feminist one of the issues I have with Hillary is the fact she has not run on her own experience, but her connection to Bill. I lost a lot of respect for her because of this. Obama is not "thin" on experience and in fact has more experience in elected office and legislative issues than Hillary.
I think they are both higly qualified and we are lucky to have two good candidates. I won't be so stupid as to not vote for Hllary is she wins, even if I have to hold my nose and do it.
However why don't Hillary supporters get that Bill is her problem and that she has not been a feminist until she thought it was politically correct. If Hillary had not hooked her election to Bill's experience, and his tenure in the 90s and then I might like her more. To me this hurts women. She continues to evoke the 35 years experience and connection to the 90s. She claims to have worked for the Children's Defense Fund, when she was a corporate tax lawyer for Rose law firm her entire time in Arkansas. Why hasn't she ever mentioned the Rose law firm?
Yes I think she is unfairly attacked sometimes, but so is Obama. She linked her experience to Bill so she has has to expect it. The attacks from the right will be worse if she wins the nomination, and yes we will have to relive the 90s again.
Thank you for just registering today to tell Obama supporters to "watch it."
If Paul Krugman doesn't think Obama supporters have a reason to be bitter over the behavior of Hillary Clinton and her campaign he must be living in a parallel universe or another planet.
Does the worthlessness of Sen Clinton's agreements about the Nevada caucus and the Michigan and Florida primaries ring a bell?
Does sending 'campaign strategists' using deep background to remind Mark Shields
and other political reporters that Sen. Obama happens to be black strike him as proper campaign ethics?
Independents hold the balance of votes necessary to win this election. The Democrats had better offer a better product to the independent voter than Bush-lite opportunism and prevarication.
This country has degenerated to an economic and security state in which four more years of lies is too scary to contemplate.
There is no comparison to Matt Gonzales an Obama. Matt is a nutty liberal Obama has substance. Besides San Francisco is oddly conservative in many ways.
"Bush vs. Obama: Perhaps lost in the news of Obama’s weekend victories and Solis Doyle stepping aside was President Bush’s broadside against Obama. “I certainly don't know what he believes in,” Bush told FOX’s Chris Wallace. “The only foreign policy thing I remember he said was he's going to attack Pakistan and embrace Ahmadinejad. I think I commented that in a press conference when I was asked about that.” Whoa, Nelly. Obama spokesman Bill Burton fired back with this statement: “Of course President Bush would attack the one candidate in this race who opposed his disastrous war in Iraq from the start. But Barack Obama doesn't need any foreign policy advice from the architect of the worst foreign policy decision in a generation.” Talking to folks who know Bush well say he just doesn't believe Obama's earned it; that he's worthy. He has a lot more respect for Clinton and apparently would be more comfortable seeing her or McCain as his heir than Obama."

Bush doesn't think Obama's earned it. Nice!
