  • Clinton's Florida and Michigan "delegates"

Hillary Clinton's surrogates are desperately lobbying behind the scenes to get her Florida and Michigan "delegates" a vote at the convention. Clinton doesn't honor any agreement once she thinks that it has become an obstacle to her ambition. Just like her agreement to boycott Fox news.

  • @ezhik2

from your post, I take it you do not understand the military or our current missions.

We need to boast civil affairs missions in Africa and South East Asia. That will require us to expand on usacapoc, MI (we need more 97Es and 97Bs), as well as medical and engineers. This expansion should mostly come in the reserves, but I think we need to add another ca unit to the active duty force, which I think would fit in well in Italy as part of SETF

  • Pardon?

    There WAS NO Florida primary

    The Democratic party disqualified it

If there was no primary, what did the party disqualified? Obama left Florida voters cold, Clinton inspired to go out and vote.

The demographics there are such, that Obama does not have a change to change anything.

  • Obama

    Re: friscosf

Even though there is a problem with Florida's delagates, they had an election there and Hillary won by hundreds of thousands of votes. And this was AFTER Ted and Caroline Kennedy endorsed Obama. And he ran TV commercials there.

Let's see how Obama does in Ohio and Pennsylvania. If we have a Democratic nominee who lost CA, NY, MASS, FL, OH, and PA, we we would be fools!

  • I see

So, it is the army that wants a bigger army. Do you think the army will vote for Obama over mcCain as is? What if McCain offers to increase it even more and add more money? What if Obama doubles?

Is it more important to army to get more man, or to get out of Iraq? Would the majority of the army prefer a war, or two over size reduction?

  • Patrick Henry and John Adams endorsed Obama today

but he still couldn't win Massachusetts.

  • How to select a nominee

    @Anonymous

Perhaps the strength of the Democratic candidates should be judged on the basis of how many delegates they bring to the convention. That way, we could arrange some sort of voting process among the delegates to determine the nominee. Oh wait...

  • That is why I am grateful

It is very likely I don't understand. That is why I am asking you.

Who are 'we' who 'need to boast?' Army? US fed Government? An average citizen? Obama wants to increase both.

Does it mean that for 8 years Republicans were cutting the size of our army, or neglecting to increase it? I've heard that it is getting harder to get people into military. How are we going to attract additional tens of thousands while keeping what we have?

How much more money do we have to spend on our army so that it will continue to grow?

  • @ezhik2, I don't really get what you are talking about

    A. I'm not "the army", I'm in the army, and giving you my observation. We are also not a union, I know a lot of guys voting for Obama, I also have a lot of friends voting for McCain.....soldiers are not the borg, they vote like all other people.

    anyway, back to the point,

We need to expand usacapoc, socom, and our mi assets, especially in the reserves.

We not talking about more tanks..we are talking about more specialists and a smarter army. By increasing these assets we can also increase our mission capability, making us more effective and influential in places like south east asia, central asia and africa.

  • I'm also not talking about warfare

I'm talking about intel, psyops, and civil affairs.

  • The proposed Obama/Clinton debates

Challenging an opponent to a debate every week for four weeks is both silly and calculating. I'm avidly following the campaign, but I don't think people would really want to tune in to so many debates stacked together so closely. Clinton’s people know that and are simply using the old schoolyard tactic-- dare somebody to do something you think up out of the blue-- something usually pointless to the other person-- and when they say "no", call them chicken. It's the narcissism of the bully. It’s all about his/her needs. The sad fact is, of course, there are always insecure kids who take up the challenge, and observers who buy into the idiotic ploy. “Yeah, if you don’t do what he says, you’re a chicken!” Obama’s too old for that. Why on earth should he let Clinton decide how many debates they have? No battle was ever won by playing according to an opponent’s rules. Obama has to set his own agenda. He’s right. Two debates are enough.

  • Chicken George is now Chicken Obama

Apparently, Obama may herald Ronald Reagan's ability to galvanize a movement, but he is more like Reagan's V.P, George Bush. George Bush was afraid to Debate Bill Clinton and would not commit on any debates. He became known across the country as "Chicken George." Obama knows head to head when the talk is about substance, Hillary comes out ahead. History replays itself -- "Chicken Obama." I think the more creative Hillary supporters should revive the Chicken costume and show up at the candidate forums that Obama refuses to attend.

I agree with some posters that suggest Obama (in fact, all candidates -- including McCain whose adopted daughter suffered attacks during his prior run for the White House) should come out against MSNBC's unsavory comments. I remember seeing George W. Bush's twins during his campaigns, Al Gore's daughter during his campaign, Edwards' adult daughter and wife with cancer out on the stump, etc.

Here is a young woman that gets to see her mother - yes, her mother -- be the first woman to have a serious chance of winning the Democratic nomination for President. Is she supposed to sit home and just wait for the returns? Is she not supposed to like her mother? Look at her watch her mother during campaign events/debates, she seems truly proud and inspired by her own mother. What mother could wish for more? Keep in mind this is the same girl that was treated unkindly by the press during her adolescent years, now she is being cast as the subject of attacks for supporting her Mom. This is going too far! Bill cannot support his wife (by golly, she deserves his support over all others for perserving with him all these years thru ups and downs). Now, Chelsea cannot support her mom. Obama's young very cute girls are at campaign events. Was he accused of pimping out his little girls? No! Why does it seem the Clintons are supposed to take punch after punch from every direction, while people are afraid to take a jab at Obama. I know what it is -- you feel more comfortable throwing a punch at someone when you think they can handle it and feel a need not to take advantage of the weak.

As a parting comment, it is ironic that Chelsea probably has more international experience than Obama. She has travled all over and had the good fortune to accompany her mother abroad way back when Mom was a leader in bringing international attention to women's issues.
