What happened to the Democrat boycott of Fox News?
Apparently it was just another hollow pledge from the Clinton camp.
At least she belongs on Fox News with the other neo-cons and war mongers.
Best of luck to her.
-
What Network?
This story doesn't say which network is giving Hillary an hour of airtime. Is it CNN, FOX or cable access?
-
What's good for the goose
Perhaps MSNBC will offer Senator Obama a "candidate forum" if Senator clinton backs out of the scheduled debate. The voters deserve no less, afterall.
-
Depends on your definition of "pledge"...
For all you regular folk hopelessly wedded to outdated notions of honesty, ethics, and forthrightness, "pledge" means "a solemn binding promise to do, give, or refrain from doing something".*
(*Regular folk definition does not apply to the Clintons.)

@Ricardo Malocchio
I love you. :-)

Obama is a pathetic coward
Running from debates like a scared child. What's he going to do if he gets the nomination, try and hide from McCain too? This is just like George Bush in 2004.
-
Which network?
What Kidcostar said: This post is frustratingly incomplete. Clinton is cancelling and MSNBC debate (which I'm all for, Obama should second her in it, and not just because of Shuster), and slamming Obama for not letting Clinton set his schedule. Do I have that right?
(Hey Cythera: Nice aim in the circular firing squad. When President McCain appoints Janice Rogers Brown to the Supreme Court and starts a war with Iran, we'll all thank you far-sighted Clintonites who would rather lose the election than the nomination).
-
Hey, Anonymous
You're as much of a coward as your candidate. Do you have a name? Hard to debate a ghost.
-
What
is so disgraceful about appearing on ABC?
What it has to do with FOX News?

Obama can't talk about the issues
Is anybody surprised? His followers don't care about the issues, just emotion and the cult of personality.
-
Obama is like Reagan
He excels in very controlled and scripted settings. In the give-and-take of debate or town-hall meetings, he seems stiff, uncomfortable, and eager to escape. It's a bad quality in a Presidential candidate. McCain is a street-fighter who loves debates (his scripted speeches, by contrast, are stiff and uninspiring). After a few sharp punches to the gut, he'll have Obama stammering and blinking and looking lost. If Obama wants to be the nominee, he might as well sharpen his debating skills against Hillary now. It's very sad to see him run away like this, whimpering his excuses.

Hen in the Fox's House
First let me state that I loathe Fox News. They offered me a lucrative job and I turned it down, that‘s how much I dislike them. So it does pain me to admit that they have been no worse in their treatment of the Democratic candidates than the cackling heads at MSNBC.
There are a lot of Blue and Red Staters who love Fox and watch it religiously. They don’t spend a lot of time online. It’s smart that Clinton is going on Fox and Obama should too.

equal airtime?
I wonder how the "Candidate Forum" will play with the equal airtime rules. By having a candidate debate that only features one candidate, isn't that essentially an extended commercial for that candidate?
-
Ha!
I love the language from the Clinton camp on this one! Classic political crap! "We're disappointed that Senator Obama would deny the voters...an opportunity to see the candidates debate..." Never mind the fact that Obama is out campaigning in person and meeting people that way.
What Clinton's team actually meant to say is this: "We're upset that Senator Obama won't play along with us in the scripted, bullshit theater that passes for a 'debate' these days. Therefore, in order to (hopefully) score cheap political points, we're going to accuse him of not caring about the voters, even though we know that is completely untrue. Senator Clinton supports the media's dumbing down of American politics because the war of over-simplified sound bites and scripted campaign events is something that Hillary knows a thing or two about, and she finds it unsettling that her rival won't play the game, too."
Come on, Obama! Just play the game!!!

Speaking of apologies, Shuster's takes the cake!
Regardless of how one feels about the necessity for an apology from Bill Clinton or David Shuster for their remarks, if a fair-minded person does a side-by-side comparison of those two boys' apologies, Bill wins because his apology was real.
A side note: If David Shuster had said the same thing about Michelle Obama or their daughters (assuming they were old enough to make the phone calls), Shuster would be in the unemployment line, not getting more airtime to keep this ridiculous story going!
-
Obama "meeting people" while campaigning?
What a joke! When's the last town-hall forum he held where he answered voters' questions about the issues directly? Sure, he smiles and shakes hands after his speeches. But the extent of his give and take with voters consists of "We love you, Obama!"?"I love you back!" Tough stuff--really meaty engagement, huh?
-
Whatever.
Clinton is so full of crap. This charade should be seen for what it is, and hopefully voters will see through it. They've debated EIGHTEEN TIMES. What, is she going to request debates in every state? This was nothing but a red herring, and the press ate it up. So, too, apparently, have her supporters.
As for anyone claiming Obama doesn't discuss the issues, you obviously missed every one of those debates, as well as 90% of his speeches. He discussed detailed policy proposals in each debate and has done so in his appearances (I know - I just saw him do it in person last Sunday in Delaware). If you're really hungry for details, go to his website. It's not difficult - unless you find it decidedly more convenient to make up stuff about him and spread untruths. I guess that would be less time-consuming.
-
Why Cowardly?
Why is it cowardly of the Obama campaign to decline the debate invitation? He's already done a kabillion debates already. Another one won't add anything to the public's knowledge, just more fodder for the news cable channels to cycle endlessly sound bites and uninformative clips. Obama is better off talking to voters one-on-one, meeting them in person, and traveling to parts of the country where he needs to promote himself. That's smart strategy - certainly smarter than giving the Clinton campaign free media. Also, the Democratic party does not need another reenactment of the Myrtle Beach debate, at which their top tier candidates are seen bickering while John McCain shores up conservative support.
