  • Uncool?

I haven't heard the song, but I can easily imaging its not the coolest out there. Luckily, Obama has already wrapped up the cool vote.

Maybe this song will resonate with the less cool demographics supporting Sen. Clinton? The song remade is old enough to appeal to retirees, no?

  • It's Rock Around Barack

    Just FYI.

  • owie

That song makes the little lord baby Jesus cry.

  • Re: It's Rock Around Barack

You're absolutely right, don't know why I had it that way. I've fixed it. Thanks.

  • Long Live Barack!

Too bad they didn't save that gem for Baracktober. Now, if only Soundgarden would reform to do "Sub Pop Barack City" in time for the Washington state contest, then we'd be going somewhere!

  • In the words of Howard Dean

    Yeeeaaaarrrrgh!!!

  • What's next?

Is Los Lobos going to take "La Bamba" and turn into "Obama?" Oh, wait, Los Lobos are probably Hillary supporters. Never mind.

  • Red Star dilution

When Salon starts giving stars out for acknowleging post mistakes and statements that they got fixed then the prestige of red stars is really on the decline.

This is a sad day for me since Salon's red stars are the only prestige I can point to.

  • I don't understand

What is wrong with that song? It's a support song for a candidate. It's not a work of art, but it certainly isn't wrong, as many of you are suggesting. This is a sideways attack on Barack, people. Give it a rest.

And I happen to think Barack is as deeply in bed with the military industrial complex as Hillary and all the rest of the "leaders"... just in case you thought I was somehow stumping for Barack.

  • Noon Thursday Rumor on NPR

Is Romney getting out of the race?!!!

  • Wow, that's amazingly terrible

At least "Obama Girl" was supposed to be funny.

    ....I think

  • Who'd have thought

That will.i.am and a Pussycat Doll would outdo Pearl Jam for aesthetic taste and heartfelt inspiration? Knocking this song is no attack on Obama, it's a big sigh of disappointment with Pearl Jam.

  • I am going to watch this later, but

a music video is even less likely to sway my vote than are the Republican trolls who bait Obama and Clinton supporters into fighting with each other on every goddamn thread just so they can jerk off to it.

(Hint for Obama and Clinton supporters: stop calling each other names, because Republicans are the only people who are amused.)

  • whatever

sure it's not maybe the best campaign song out there, but who really cares? Will this have any effect on his candidacy? no.

Honestly, I'd rather have this harmless song than a song by a group best known for singing "Let's get retarded"

  • really folks...

Maybe it's not the White Album, but c'mon, it's not that bad. You all make it sound like its three minutes of cats being tortured.

  • "Yes We Can" do without "Rock Around Barack"

I may be the only person that didn't really dig "Yes We Can." I just didn't think the mash of speech-bytes worked well together. This Pearl Jam thing doesn't work any better only because it's a cheesy play on lyrics that is cringe-inducing. Here's a link to something more inspirational

that actually works musically--although needs to be cut by about 2 min.

  • So Richard Roeper got it wrong!

The columnist for the moribund Chicago Sun-Times and sometime movie-reviewing partner of the ailing Roger Ebert opined that the Obama campaign should simply adopt the old Pointers Sisters hit "Yes We Can Can" and hire the three remaining sisters (one died a few years ago) to travel in his entourage.

Hope your Oscar predictions work out better, Rich!

  • Chills

This gave me chills. In a bad way.

They have clearly lost their minds.

  • What Could Have Been in Michigan

Too bad the DNC had to eff up the Michigan and Florida primaries -- the RNC's choice to halve the number of delegates was about a thousand times smarter -- because Obama would have steamrolled over Clinton to the tune of "Detroit Barack City"

  • Pearl Jam, no!

Me from 1992 would be disappointed to hear this. Incidentally, that was about the last time Pearl Jam did anything relevant.

  • ironocrat

Those are some fighting words! Pearl Jam has done plenty of relevant stuff since 1992. They rocked last summer at Lollapalooza!

  • Eddie

Thank you, Eddie Vedder, for sitting this one out. To the rest of Pearl Jam, I say that your time would be better spent on other things than coming up with catchy political cover songs. I say that as a HUGE fan of Pearl Jam. Please stop, guys.

Not that they are reading this, but it makes me feel better.
