c'mon
C'mon Mike, win a few more, just to jazz things up!
Really, I just wanted to try to post first.
-
Not really a win
Romney actually drew more votes, until McCain supporters threw them over to Huckabee to block Mitt from the win. (hence McCain's dismal showing in the final tally)
Ah, democracy.
-
don't those people have to work?
how can they hold a caucus in the middle of the day on a week day? Who is able to attend such a thing?
-
How did that caucus work?
Did everyone caucusing for Huckabee handle snakes? Did they lay their hands on people caucusing for Romney and McCain?
It really would be a fun turn of events if Huckabee crapped in McCain's bed.

Hahha! Good point! Lord knows, and by "Lord," I mean "God," and by "God," I mean "Satan" -- the Brimstone Base has spoken, and have anointed Huckabee as their mad prophet, at least in West Virginia. Fingers crossed that they strike again and again, so Mad John McCain at least suffers a little on the way to his own coronation. I'd hate to think of Mad John having extra time on his hands studying Economics 101 to bone up for the general race.

W VA Caucus
Unemployed Zealots for Huckabee!

McCain-Huckabee 08
I think we are headed to a McCain Huckabee duo on the Republican side. Its essentially turned into a 2 person race - Huckabee's only role in all of this is to siphon off votes from Romney. McCain gets the national security vote, Huckabee brings out the evangelicals - it seems like the Republicans are looking ahead to November.
Obama/Edwards 08! Just an idea.
-
Strange syntax?
"In the Huckabee took 51.5 percent, and Romney 47.4, giving Huckabee 18 delegates for the in September"
Who does your copy editing, Katherine?

Clinton OK's Fox Debate
There's a shocker- Her buddy Rupert couldn't get the Dems to go on his propaganda network before, so now he's calling in his favor (for hosting a Clinton fundraiser) hoping that Obama can't refuse. He should.
-
Oh, it gets BETTER
The Charleston Gazette posted this in its local report on the Huckabee victory (http://www.wvgazette.com/News/200802050313):
"The delegate switch didn't sit well with Romney supporters. 'These are the juvenile actions of a morally bankrupt campaign,' said John McCutcheon of the Phillips Group, which supported Romney's campaign in the state."
"Juvenile" and "morally bankrupt" are pretty harsh words -- wonder if it will escalate to even more enjoyable bomb-throwing between the McCain and Romney camps? We can only hope!
-
And that's why Republicans...
want winner-take-all primaries. So they can pull sh-t like this. I'm no fan of any of the Republican candidates, but it sucks that Romney won by a clear margin in the first round of votes but failed miserably in the second round because the McCain delegates flipped him the bird.
And none of that matters because all of the delegates go to Mike "United States of God" Huckabee.

Praise Jaysus!
Any country that would have a state in which an American Taliban could win an election, any election, belongs in the catagory 'Third World'. Welcome to Third World America.

Sorta Proud of WV
As a native son of WV (who's first goal upon graduating high school was to get the hell out of WV), I was very disappointed to see Huckabee get the delegates. But now that I see the details, I'm a little proud. Those rednecks may not be geniuses, but they're clever and you underestimate them at your own peril!
-
Um, people in WV get personal time too, folks.
Also, plenty of people work second shift. Get a freakin' grip. You want Dems to start winning Red States? How about a little respect for the people who live there?
-
Who were the delegates attending this convention, you ask?
Amazing what you can find on-line these days, with a little effort to dig it out!
Here's a listing of the delegates who attended, courtesy of the W.Va. Republican Party. (No demographics were provided on this group, so there's no way to determine their ages or anything else -- but isn't it interesting to see how often two or three delegates come from the same street address?)
Here's the list of names, addresses and the candidate (if any) they intended to support:

What the US needs
is many many many T shirts with
Article 6 of the Declaration of Independence
emblazoned on them. Or maybe tatooed on
the palm of everybody's hand.

I'm a native of WV and lived there for almost 25 years.
And, of course, I don't live there now and, no, I don't have many fond memories of the place or the people and, yes, there's poverty and all that entails there.
But some of you people have the nerve to call yourselves progressive (I assume) and denigrate the very citizens who are among those who have suffered the most in this country at the hands of the Republican party?
May I remind you that this is only the Republican party in WV? And may I remind you that Huckabee got the nod specifically because he was used to screw over Romney? That if Romney had not been part of the equation, we don't know what the outcome might have been?
But is it really that amazing that Republicans in a mostly-Southern identified, mostly-undereducated, mostly-religious state would go with Huckabee?
You don't like West Virginians? Well guess what -- a lot of them don't like you. If you want to know why, just re-read this forum.

One more thing:
Learn the damn abbreviation. It's WV, not W.Va. And it has been WV for about forty freakin' years. Catch up, already, geniuses.

Romney's Rage
Hey, Romney bought and paid for this victory fair and square. How dare the Republican delegates of West Virginia play politics and take it away from him! More power to them for refusing to be bought by a Republican establishemnt suit.
And I agree that the tone of some of these posts concerning people of WV are far from progressive. Get a grip people, and bring people into the Democratic tent. This is our moment. We haven't had an opprtunity like this in decades.
-
"some of you people have the nerve to call yourselves progressive (I assume) and denigrate the very citizens who are among those who have suffered the most in this country at the hands of the Republican party?"
Hey, I'm as progressive as the next guy, but if these people have been hurt so much by the republican party, and they're all set to vote for another Bush clone, then there's not much I can do but shake my head and marvel at their stupidity.
If the good people of W.Va. vote against their oppressors in November, then I'll be the first to apologize.
