Cynicism vs. Hope
This brand of cynical spin is not unusual for these sorts of triangulating DLC flacks. What Karl Rove was to the far right, Mark Penn is to the mushy middle.
But once you begin to dig beneath the outright lies and hedged half-truths what you begin to sense is a campaign in trouble: money trouble, momentum trouble, and now delegate trouble. For HRC, those superdelegates can't be counted on to fulfill their promise if her campaign flounders between now and August. If team Obama does well tonight and keeps up the pressure, the energy and the large number of small donations from a wide base, HRC might not make it to the convention.
