If Bill Clinton said,' I'd have to THINK about weather I'd support Obaba as the nominee' the whole media and Obama nation would be up in arms.
The Democratic party MUST unite after the primaries, its going to be ugly what the Republicans will do and talk like this will only be used to tear at the untied Democratic party.
I don't like seeing Ms. Obama be so negative; its unbecoming.
If Barack Obama gets the nomination, don't be surprised when the GOP thugs use his loose cannon of a wife to bring him down. "Ain't no white folks in Iowa," as Michelle Obama so delicately said, and ain't no honest-to-God, descended-from-slaves black folks allowed in the White (sic) House, either. Wait and see.
If you attacked my husband and called him a lightweight with no meaningful experience, I wouldn't promise to jump on your bandwagon, either.
Ronald Reagan was right about one thing. Speak no evil about your fellow Republicans. If the Democrats had followed that, maybe Michelle Obama wouldn't have a bad taste in her mouth now about the Clintons.
Frankly, I appreciate her honesty.
If you're going to attack Michelle Obama for this then you must think Bill Clinton is evil incarnate for his comments about Barack Obama.
According to your logic if Obama wins Hillary supporters shouldn't vote him. Pretty lame.
I think Michelle Obama was being honest, and in politics, that's a rare and laudable virtue, given the hot potato question she was handed. The Clintonites/Hillbots would favor a facile sound bite, instead of a thoughtful, smart response from a candidate's spouse.
"I think, you know, we're different people". Can you imagine it! Up to this everybody was thinking that Bill and Michelle are the same person. With pearls of wisom like that we should be agog to hear more.
but not good, Michelle.
Not only that, but I don't believe her. It's just that Obama doesn't have enough of a lead to have anyone entertain HRC's possible nomination. So it's probably not time to break out the "either candidate is a fine choice" talk yet. But a "I've got great respect for HRC" non-answer or an "At this point in the contest, my entire focus is on what happens when my husband wins the nomination" would have done nicely.
For heaven's sake, as someone else said, "stay classy". She should have anticipated that question. I hope that was not a thought out response.
Please don't let that be a thought out response.
And HRC hasn't said ANYTHING about Obama worth ANYONE deciding to abandon her for the Republicans. Or even inaction.
If my candidate does not get the nomination, I'm sitting this one out.
the obama campaign's true colors are showing once again. of course we won't hear about this anywhere - in fact, given the blatant obama-lusting of salon.com, i'm surprised (though grateful) that we heard about it here.
I saw the interview this morning. I too was initally caught off guard by the response. But I think what we saw was an honest moment. Go figure.
Campaigning must be tough. I would never want to do it. I'm certain Michelle Obama is privy to many political tactics of which the public is completely unaware. The fact that she gave an honest answer (one I can appreciate) make me like her even more. Unlike Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama has never held elected office. She is first and foremost a spouse and mother. It should not surprise anyone that she would not readily jump on the Hillary bandwagon. If she had answered the question in a politically correct fashion, would we have really believed her? Probably not.
I love how when Bill Clinton makes less than flattering remarks about Barack Obama, the press and the Obama-ites scream "Smear!", but when Michelle Obama makes less than flattering remarks about the Clintons, the press is largely silent, and the Obama-ites say she's being "refreshingly honest."
I was watching Obama as Sen. Clinton was speaking in the last debate, and when his face wasn't looking like he was sucking on a lemon, he was quite literally looking down his nose at her. I really cannot stand the disdainful attitude the Obamas and their following seem to have toward the part of the Democratic party that is not in their camp.
are reflective of the way most Obama supporters think...If we don't get our way we're taking our ball and going home...Very selfish and exactly the reason why the Republicans will win the presidency...Spoken as a true "Uniter"...Jeesh...
The question was asked in the hope of getting the type of answer Ms. Obama gave her. Now the MSM can talk about how divided the Dems are, how they all hate each other, etc. Why didn't Michelle just say, "I'll support the Dem candidate." That's the answer her husband and Senator Clinton gave when they were asked at the last debate. Geez, I hate it when they play right into the MSM's hands.

Really? Did you even read this post? What did she say that was "less than flattering" about the Clintons?
"I'm not Bill Clinton"
Yeah, that's a real shot, there!
Here we have a political wife who, like Hillary, is a savvy and ambitious career woman, but unlike Hillary, is not afraid to speak her mind completely an unambiguously. Want to know what she thinks about something? Be careful what you ask for. she will tell you. Until her spirit has been utterly crushed by the Clinton campaign machine (and perhaps the Republicans as well), you will never see Michelle Obama lick her thumb and test the winds before she gives a bland and ultimately meaningless answer that sounds good to everyone. This is a positive for me. Hillary should be taking notes.
Her very unStepford wife answers to tough questions come across crystal clear and frankly are very refreshing.
I also like her "First Lady issue." Instead of supporting some nice sounding, but total bullshit cause like childhood literacy or saying NO to drugs, Michelle has said that her cause will be finding a better work/life balance for American workers. If this isn't something the middle class can't get behind, I don't know what is.
Maybe the subject line should read: My love letter to Michelle Obama.
