Obama, nuclear Illinois companies, and "working across the aisle"
Some Illinoisans, including me, have not been as awed bv Mr. Obama as some others. Today's NYT has an extended and highly detailed article examining just one of Obama's claims vs. the factual realities. It's one of the first in what I predict will be a long line of "exposes" the MSM will shower us with once Obama wins the nomination and Mrs. Clinton is safely set aside. This article is about Obama's claims of success in a bill to control nuclear companies in Illinois, and shows clearly how deceptive his boasts are. The real meaning in this story is about how Obama actually works "across the aisle" with determined Republicans and with a company like Excelon which gives him over 200K and gets real favors from him. As many have warned before, the "new politics" and "post-partisanship" Obama's youthful followers so admire can mean in practice giving in to our opponents.
I don't expect Obama supporters to read this article, but if someone still wonders what to make of Mr. Obama's experience as legislator, his claims on the campaign trail, and his promises of bi-partisanship, this article may help.

I intended to provide a link to the NYT article on Obama and Exelon nuclear companies. Here it is; I hope it works okay.

These A-list celebrities are getting tiresome
Does Oprah have anything material to say about anything other than cheerleading and vaporous shouts about hope and faith? Are we just cutting a shortcut past rational though straight to branding? Can Oprah's vagina defeat Chuck Norris in a cage match?

Roger is silly, BUT...
Oprah would be a great VP candidate for anybody other than Barack or Hillary. Now... I have advocated Condi as VP with McCain or Romney... SO... I am vulnerable to the charge that I am both racist and sexist (maybe I only want black women for VICE president!).
However, my friends, do not discount Oprah. She would make a great Secretary of Some Darn Thing, and she could be an American President. If the Democrats win two terms, she will be still-young in 2016. And if the Republicans win this time around, we wil be in deep trouble in 2012, and the big Democrat, maybe Oprah, will sweep into office.

Obam draws biggest corowds
Crowds? Obam draws huge crowds across the country.
MN-20,000, ID-13,000 These are sizes of the crowds Obama draws...He doe not need Oprah.
He's already been in in CA several times over the last year drawing thousands at each event. What Obama does have in CA, that Hillary does NOT, is an enormous grassroots organization....making calls, and foot solders out there today thouusands, across the state ,walking neighborhoods.
YES WE CAN!!!

Doc54 ditorst teh facts
First Obama has NEVER taken money in his camaping from companies or PACs. The msot any individual or household can give in a year is $4600. I checked FundRaise.com on employees for Excelon. Yes individuals that work for that company gave to Obama. Most in $250 to $500 donations, some of the exec gave the $1000- $2300. The president of the company gave no money to Obama. The total was less that $75,000 from over 50 individuals. Doc you can attempt to distort the facts all you like, but anyone can go got fundRaise.com and see for themselves what individuals and the company they worked for donated to Obama.

Pulling out the Big Guns
Ophra is a big gun in some sense, but her sights have never been calibrated for baqging the Presidency.
This won't be a casting call in November and one can only hope that Ophra's constituency can tell the difference.

No, and why should she. After she works to get our qualified candidate out of the way and after McCain beats Obama in a landslide because the press will report the ugly truth (and a lot of ugly not so real truth) about him, Oprah will still be in her Chicago penthouses and throwing lavish parties in California.
It's the rest of us that will be you know what.

I think you meant to state he'd never accepted corporate or PAC money in his CAMPAIGNING?
Boy, I just bet you own a lot of bridges in the Arizona desert too.

Yes. Very obviously. And he's hyped up a LOT.
I ain't in Illinois but I lost my enchantment with him in a hurry when he decided he was ready to be President without even fufilling a single senate term - AND didn't show up for most of that. He was after all hired by the people to do a job and he couldn't even bother to show up most of the time. Too busy planning his presidential run.
Then when his smears and negativing campaigning just happened to begin and extend greatly after Rove offered him a helpful editorial suggestig he launch continous attacks on HRC I had to wonder exactly how much help he was getting from Rove. Maybe a little more than an editorial? I have to wonder. His attacks it seems have became ever more Rovian. All the time.
Obama's late smear flyer is a knock-off of the Harry and Louise the GOP ran against the Clinton's health care. And that proves it in my mind. Obama as I read his history to present has always been more concerned with self-promotion and his own ambition than with doing any good for people who need it.
And arguably ditto for Oprah, who opens her school in South Africa arguing that poor blacks here are too "materialistic" when Oprah's entire empire is about materialism for petessakes giving things on her show, magazines filled with luxuries and so forth. That's when I lost respect for her, and this late trouncing for Obama offering "hope" as if it were something that came in a can without any solids behind it have completely turned me off.
They're both flaming hypocrites to me.
