Good one Obama!
On Mitt. Let's not forget Bush supposedly earned an MBA.

Another thing I don't get
The "decades' long" reing of Clinton-Bush. (16 years isn't "decades," but that's a minor point).
What do these people think about the first several elections in this country? How long was it before a "founding brother" was no longer on the ticket?
Looking at this link, http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0781450.html
I think it's 1824. And even then, John Quincy Adams was the son of a Founding Brother.
Was that bad? Yes, I know since they came up with the whole plan, they were probably better prepared to get the country on its feet than some country preacher or small town lawyer.
But I think the "dynasty" issue is a non-issue. Especially when you look at the elections: Bill Clinton winning 2 elections handily; GWB stealing 2000 and swiftboating his opponents in 2004. In 2008, thus far, the 2 Democratic candidates are rocking the vote, and people are enthusiastic about their candidacies.
-
minor correction
I forgot Daddy Bush in 1998, so it is technically "decades".
-
bah! 1988!
not 1998!
-
demeaning
Is anybody going to call Clinton on using Obama's FIRST NAME while he refers to her by title and last name??
-
he's usually
...called her "Hillary" in past debates, so I think that's a non-issue.
-
One thing abundantly clear from tonight
is what a complete smarmy creep Wolf Blitzer is. Not taking sides here, except whatever side is against his moronic cheap attempts at lowering this to world wrestling whatever it's called these days.
-
I do wish
HRC would say "Yeah, in hindsight, that was not a good move. Won't get fooled again!"
Or, honestly, "Well, if I were president, I'd want congress to give me the same powers. I'd use them more wisely, of course ..." which is peobably the real reason.

Hillary is okay, but...
... She causes problems for herself: She just should say, "W. Bush lied to us. He took me in. I should not have voted for Iraq."
Instead, she has complex, involved, boring, long explanations. If you are interested in the details, part of what she says is marginally interesting, but it is distracting as hell, and it does not matter.
Hillary: W. Bush fooled everybody! It's okay. He fooled the voters too, not just you. Give us a simple admission, and move on, please.

pay attention, Koppelman
Koppelman's blow-by-blow would have more resonance if he were actually commenting on the crowd response inside the L.A. auditorium rather than the reactions of the people around him -- otherwise, he would have paid attention to the fact the crowd openly hissed and booed Blitzer for such a naked attempt to bait her. I'm not even for Hillary but come on, Koppelman! Give her that one!
-
Hillary's funny too...
Obama's line on Mitt was great but Clinton's on the "dynasty" Q was pretty good, too. Asked about the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton issue she said, "It took a Clinton to clean up the mess the first Bush left, so it'll take a Clinton to clean up the mess the second Bush has made" Good, Gal!
-
Calling BS on the 9:10 comment
"And just in time for a question about dynasties, both Bush and Clinton. The crowd here loved that one."
Horseshit. What the crowd loved was Clinton's response: that it took a Clinton to clean up the mess made by the first Bush and a will probably take a Clinton to clean up the mess left by this Bush. THAT answer was "loved" by the crowd so much, CNN ended up cutting away to a commercial.
Blitzer is clearly taking as many pot shots at Clinton as that geezer can muster. That's not a problem. What is a problem are the softballs being thrown Obama's way. What is also a problem is Salon's War Room coverage that seems to be from the same play sheet as Blitzer. 9:10 isn't the only obvious spin being posted by Mr. Koppelman. What's up with that?
I'd like to see some questions put to Obama that go beyond superficial answers his "intention"s and gets to details about how he's going to accomplish what he so eloquently says he wants to accomplish. It concerns me greatly that I cannot find ANY of those answers whether I'm watching his debate performance, reading his web site policy positions (great positions, little detail) or reading what he's written. I don't entirely (or much) trust Clinton to stay left of center if she gets the nomination. But, at least, she's facile with the details of her policy positions.
-
In the end. . .
the candidates engaged in a great and heartening debate. How refreshing. The only jeers belong to Mr. Blitzer for trying to stir the shit.
-
Two presidential people
I think Hillary had a great debate, and being a supporter think she clearly "won." Having said that, this debate showed me that Barack Obama can still be the classy upfront and thoughtful guy he once was as my senator. None of his rhetorical tricks to please the fans, this was a man ready to be President, and to be a damned good one.
I still think Hillary is the better choice, but I'll be proud to work hard for Barack if he's the one chosen by us Dems.

Well Crap
I have caucuses to go to on Tuesday and I was hoping that this would help me decide once and for all. Hillary did better than I expected and I was cheering at the screen when the "dream ticket" question came at the end.
It's rather ironic, but Hillary could have sealed my vote if all she had said was "absolutely I would consider Senator Obama as my running mate."
It also would have been nice if she could have said "yes, in retrospect my Iraq vote was a mistake" but it's clear enough to me that there's no substantive difference between the candidates on Iraq going forward.
I really felt tonight that the Republicans were going down. After all the bitterness I've seen in the blogosphere, that was a good feeling. Hope it lasts.

What I learned by watching the debate
Actually, just after: Obama is lefthanded, Clinton righthanded.
I did not know that.
What is the lefty:righty ratio of American presidents? Are lefties over-represented considering their presence in the population?
Is this yet another issue overlooked by the media? What about McCain?
Kerry blew the taller-one-wins rule, maybe the lefty rule is all the left has got...left.
