  • Follow the money.

The so-called conservative media have made a ton of money trashing liberals. They are now going to make a ton of money trashing John McCain. Can you say: Opportunistic slime?

  • Music to my ears

It's time for the Right to know what it's like to be stuck with a candidate they don't like, and who is bound to lose.

  • but who will they vote for?

They may say they hate him, but they'll all vote for him in November. More troubling is that McCain got the "anti-bush moderate" votes. That's exactly why he will steamroll over the Clintons in the general election.

    And...

Todays boomer women flocking to Clinton will be November's security moms.

  • So, basically...

the Republican base feels the same way about McCain as the Democratic base feels about Clinton?

  • McCain't and Billary

But who do they like? Romney?

The qualities the reactionaries hate so much in McCain are the very qualities that would let him beat Clinton in the general election, would allow him to scoop up the independent voters -- just as the very qualities the Clintonites seem to love so much in the Clintons are the same qualities that would drive away independents and much of the Democratic vote. What the GOP dons think are his weaknesses are McCain's strengths; what the Clintonians think are the Clintons' strengths are their weaknesses. McCain and Clinton are bizarro versions of each other, with opposite reactions from their party faithful.

  • They'll vote for McCain anyway...

If all these anti-McCain conservatives had the slightest bit of integrity they would stay home on election day or vote indpendent. But we all know that their hatred of the Democrats trumps any anti-McCain sentiment; they will vote for him nonetheless.

  • Yeah. These guys will vote for Hillary instead. Right.

They will bite the bullet and vote for McCain against Clinton (if she is the nominee). Many Democrats will vote for McCain before voting for Clinton though.

I'm a bad person for saying that, huh?

  • Who cares?

As long as the rest of America is pi$$ed off enough to actually get out and vote (and it looks like that is where we are) the conservatives are just not a factor.

  • @qtrly325

I am pissed off. I'm pissed off by Hillary's vote for war and refusal to take responsibility for it (like Edwards did). I'm pissed off by Hillary's refusal to make an absolute stand against waterboarding and torture (like McCain did). I'm pissed off by her co-sponsorship of a fucking flag burning bill. I'm pissed off at the negative campaign she's been running. I'm pissed off by her underhanded attempts to get the delegates in states she'd already agreed were off limits. I'm pissed off by her triangulations and non-statements.

Yeah, I'm pissed off enough to vote Republican for the first time in my life. At least I know enough about where McCain stands to say I disagree with him on several key issues.

  • They'll stay home

It's not a question of whether right-wingers will vote for the Democratic nominee over McCain. It's a question of whether they'll go to the polls in the first place. If they dislike their nominee, and don't hate the Democratic nominee, many of them will just stay home in disgust. My worry is that their dislike for McCain will be outweighed by their dislike for Clinton, and they'll vote for him in an attempt to keep her out of office. With Obama I suspect that they wouldn't bother.

  • Nothing Will Make Them Happier

As the fringe fascisti's world shrinks, the targets for their filth grow exponentially. The favorite self image of these same morons is of the defiant misunderstood martyr.

  • I Still Don't See Hillary Winning In November

I don't care how sad the fascists are, Hillary can't win in November against John McCain.

  • It means nothing...

it's one state and it's the first time McCain has won anything.

  • Wow

There must be fewer fascists in the actual population than the "conservative" punditry.

  • Note to Michael Graham

It's going to be a long eight years, and possibly more.

  • Excellent (in a Mr. Burns voice)

What this country needs more than anything right now is a Democrat in the White House after the next election.

The fact that all of these splinter faction right wing attack dogs are all now starting to turn on each other is just desserts for their behavior toward the rest of the nation over the past seven years.

  • Hillary vs. McCain

    McCain in a landslide.

Hillary will lose by double digits. If these are the 2 nominees, I'll write in Edwards.

  • gotta love modern "conservatism"

Of all the Republican candidates McCain is the most qualified, unifying, productive, and he has the best chance to win the general election. The fact that conservative pundits can't stand him because he doesn't hate immigrants and homosexuals enough is both sad and pathetic. The "conservative base" Malkin speaks of wants a christian bigot for their nominee, I'm glad McCain is ignoring them.

  • Right left in the dust?

What few if any far right wing pundits seem willing to recognize so far is the a large percentage of Republican voters are abandoning the extremes of the conservative platform in favor of a more centrist and pragmatice course, and Mc Cain is their man. It's about time!

  • McCain and his bleeding liberal heart.

"Every day, he dreams of a world filled with happy Democrats and insulted Republicans." - Michelle Malkin

Wow, I never knew that McCain and I had so much in common in our daily lives.

  • How About Some Green Tea?

Anon -- I'm as anti-Hillary as the next progressive (which is to say I like her way more than pretty much every GOPer out there who will hold his/her nose and go with McCain come November), but there's no way I'm voting for McCain.

I know this will piss off the sensible Dems who think it's enough to just hold power but not actually DO ANYTHING USEFUL when you have it (see Congress, 110th version for specifics), but there is a better option for those who can't handle pulling the lever for Bush Lite and just voting for Mr. Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran: Vote Green. Check out Cynthia McKinney. No chance of winning, sure, but it's always more satisfying to vote FOR something and someone than AGAINST.

  • Not good news for Democrats

I know a fair number of Dems who'd vote for McCain over Clinton. And in one poll I saw, McCain got better numbers than Clinton in a head-to-head presidential matchup. The situation was reversed for Obama and Edwards (who, sadly, is throwing in the towel).
