Hi Alex,
I'm looking forward to what you plan to bring to the War Room. Thanks for stepping in and filling Tim's shoes, and based on the articles and analysis you've already brought to the table, I think the War Room is in great hands!
-
Welcome!
Glad to have you on board. War Room is the reason I'm still coming to Salon. I look forward to your reports and analysis.
-
Good luck, Alex!
Here's to your new ideas and innovations! Smooth sailing!
-
new War Room
I've seen Alex's stuff, so a "welcome to the war room" may not be appropriate, but I'm confident he'll do very well.
glad to have you taking over

Long live the King!
Obviously, you're no stranger to most of us, which makes the transition appear more seamless from the viewing/reading perspective. Welcome!
-
Welcome
Welcome, Alex. Do a good job, this matters.

Yes,
what skypilot said. But the best change would be to change the name. I've given this a lot of thought. I get the too often sublimated truth of what Marx said about the on-going class conflict. But U.S. politics can be fairly consensual. And war has a gravity entirely apart from ordinary politics.
-
War Room is *THE* reason I keep coming to Salon -- no pressure though ;-)
Welcome Alex,
I, too, was sorry to see Tim Grieve leave since War Room is how I discovered Salon and why I have kept my subscription for the last several years.
I look forward to reading your work and seeing what you have in store for the War Room.
All I ask is that you don't let the War Room go soft since that is its main appeal -- this blog has been the one place to call a spade, a spade and to highlight the inconsistencies and outright lies of politicians. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let Joan Walsh dictate what you write or follow her lead or style. Her "its all about *ME*" self-promotion and personal slant and bias really destroys all credibility for any "information" she actually may be trying to present.
Be your own person and not a Joan Walsh/Camille Paglia blowhard and I'm sure I'll continue to be a loyal daily reader!
Best regards and best of luck.

Hello, Alex -- congratulations!
We're already familiar with your work so the War Room will be in good hands.
I'd suggest NOT changing the name, though -- at least until we aren't at war with our own politicians....
-
congratulations Alex
Hi Alex,
Yes, I am sad to hear that Tim is moving on, though I would like to think that with him moving over to Politico, Glenn Greenwald can now spend less energy talking about how lame their coverage is and move his attentions to where they are needed.
But I'd like to let you know that, while it might not sound like a compliment to tell a writer that he has blended in seamlessly, you have, and I was actually under the impression that the blog had been under the dual authorship of yourself and Tim for a while... I've enjoyed the War Room coverage no less under your byline than Tim's, which given how I've felt about most changes at Salon in the past year, is comforting.
You've done a great job so far, and congratulations on taking the lead as the campaign moves into even more interesting territory...

It's not much of a baptism by fire, but it'll have to do
Dear Mr. K:
Welcome aboard. I look forward to being informed as all get out.
Enough with the gushing sentiment. Now, on to the dirty part. Can you tell me (or find somebody who can tell me) what happens to Florida's Democrats in the absence of a primary? Does the party really intend to deny them any role in deciding who gets nominated? Are the state's Demos expected to sit at home and choose between watching the convention and switching to American Idol (and by extension, staying home in November)?
Brian, Charlie, and Katie won't tell me the fate of these bereft Florida Demos. It's up to you.
Thanking you in advance,

a programming note
Hi Alex,
As a subscriber and long time reader, I'd like to wish you luck with the column. One comment I'd make is that what I enjoy most about the blog is its ability to provide quick editorial snacks during my work day. The key, though, is to be brief. You're at your best when you say more with less.
-
Welcome, Alex...
Welcome...
As another reader said, I value War Room as an excellent spot to pick up journalistic snacks all day long.
Alex, in your hello note you tell us that you've worked as a Salon writer for about a year.
Could you also please give us a sense of your journalistic credentials? What did you study? Where did you graduate? Have you ever broken any big stories? If so, where? What sort of enterprise journalism have you launched? When were you ever first, journalistically speaking? Have you written for a journalism review of any credibility?
Thanks.. this information will help us with the necessary context of what you write.
-
welcome!
Welcome, Alex... I've enjoyed your posts in the past year, and though I'm sorry to see Tim go, I'm happy that you're the one replacing him. I think I've read all 4000ish of Tim's posts to War Room... here's to reading all 4000 of yours to come. =)
-
Bon Chance, Alex!
But please keep in mind that most of us have limited time for reading blogs.
Bboro took the words right out of my fingers when he advised:
"The key, though, is to be brief. You're at your best when you say more with less."
-
Welcome
I'm sure you'll shine.
[Have a bit of fun while you're about it..
if you've a mind.]
-
Delighted to Welcome You!
I've always been able to pick your posts out from Mr. Grieve's; yours are the ones that don't have that blinkered, half-hypnotized, apathetic fog-stuff hanging between the words and lines.
As a devotee of War Room since it's inception, I'm thrilled to have you taking over the reins from Mr. Grieve. Your posts don't depend on conventional wisdom and assume top-down correctness, which are the things that make Mr. Grieve so perfectly suited to a position with Politico.
Undoubtedly this will be a happy and positive change for everyone involved.
