War Room has been a regular read of mine probably for all 4,000 of your posts. Thanks for the effort you've made over the years. It's been greatly appreciated.
Sorry to see you go. I'm surprised that you're going to Politico, but maybe you'll improve its rep. Anyway, may a gentle wind be at your back and may you continue to write the great stuff I've become accustomed to.
Tim, you did a great job. Thanks.
Tim,
I thoroughly enjoy the War Room updates and your unique (and for the record: sensible) spin on political events. I will miss your thoughts. Perhaps I might just follow you over to Politico. Good luck, and thanks for the insight.

Glenn..all of us... will be thrilled to have you bringing
a little more class to the marginal?Politico effort.
Tim you will be missed here at Salon, but at least we can still get your daily dose of hard-hitting, (sometimes) dry-wit at Politico. Iam sure you will bring a fresh outlook that has been sorely needed there.
I have certainly enjoyed reading your writings over the years.
Good luck to You & Thank You for all you do.
Sincerely,
serena
Thanks for the 4000+ refreshing & thought-provoking posts....and remember that you can always share your thoughts as a civilian.
I look forward to reading your thoughts/work in your new post.
All our best, Tim...all our best.
Thanks for your insight - I read your posts religiously, in the sense that it became part of my daily routine. Take care and best of luck.
Others want to be polite and at least one person characterized those with specific opinions about politco.com as "mean-spirited," but the fact remains that choosing to work at politico.com is selling out, pure and simple. It just is, for very obvious reasons, and anyone who is unwilling to recognize this is either in denial or woefully unable to think critically about the role and content of corporate dominated media.
I understand that there may be reasons for making such a choice. I assume Mr. Grieve needs the money or there's some kind of ego massage involved with being part of a larger, mainstream operation. (Those are the only reasons I can think of, unless he actually agrees with the conservative politics so unabashedly practiced there.)
But folks it's not "mean-spirited" to point out the truth. Working for politico.com is a sell out and exhibits moral weakness. That's just true and Mr. Grieve should deal with it, privately if not publicly.
Also, not to make too fine a point of it, but Mr. Grieve's posts have never been that insightful. They tend to the vague and dance on the margins. He was never good at penetrating to the core. He always walked on eggshells in the belief that he shouldn't have a well developed and articulated point of view. I suspect this intellectual feebleness contributes to the moral weakness.
As for the comment on Salon's diminished quality and significance, I couldn't agree more. It has no particular soul and I can't see what its place in the literary/commentary/political universe is anymore. Think about it. If Salon disappeared tomorrow, would you be unable to find whatever it is you currently read there somewhere else? The answer is no. Except for the twaddle of people like Cary Tennis (now that "column" is truly embarrassing), Salon offers very little that such sites as the Huffington Post (for certain things) and others (for others) don't do much better. (Greenwald is the shining exception; but Salon has nothing to do with developing his place in the larger discourse; they appropriated him after he established himself on his own. He could post from anywhere and Salon is irrelevant to what he does. I'm sure he could find another site that could give him whatever living Salon does.)
Let the Tim Grieve's of the world finally face up to who they really are and the Salon's fade into the obscurity they deserve.
I wish you the best...see you at Politico.com
Dang. Well, god speed and farewell. I can't stand that place, and I guess I just don't see how you'll fit in there.
Beyond that, though: whoah. Salon spent all that dough to move you across all that flyover part of the continent, and this is what they get?
All I can say is: they deserve it.
Bwa- hahahhahhahhahhaha!
War Room is one of the best features of Salon. Tim will be missed
good luck
Just a note of thanks. You've made warroom mandaotry reading for me. Tom Dumm, Chair, Political Science Dept., Amherst College
A worthwhile reason to read the Politico regularly.
Tim,
I have read War Room almost every day for 2-3 years now. I have appreciated your insight and humor. I doubt I will ever read any of your work at Politico. I just loaded up Politico in the ole browser: every other word is directly related to the Republican Party. Can't really understand your motivation. Perhaps you want to be the next Colmes?
Peace,
-Derek
Congratulations on the new job.
You will be missed here, as War Room has become one the few places on Salon that still resemble the old Salon, instead of feeling like a Clinton campaign site.
Hopefully, your successor (as evidence suggests) will continue to make the War Room one of the best sources of political news available.
As the site has become increasingly a pro-Hillary version of FOX"news" (curtailed slightly in light of the backlash), the number of high profile defections has grown. Sadly, the shake-up that needs to occur is much higher up the chain.
Politico? Seriously? That speaks volumes. About what I am not entirely sure. I thought for sure you would go to work for Obama given the amount of water you have been carrying for him lately. Where will I go for my daily Hillary and Bill bashing? Politico, of course. How silly of me to forget. Good luck.
Wow, I'm pretty upset to hear about this. I've really enjoyed reading your posts over the past few years! Good luck at your new job.
