A farewell note

Some 4,000 posts later, this one will be my last.

Politico?

Really? Politico? The site Glenn Greenwald is constantly holding up as providing misinformation and outright lies?

Well... I hope you bring some honesty and accuracy there Mr. Grieve. May you increase the repute of the site.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:25 PM

Best of luck

I've always enjoyed your posts.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:27 PM

Goodbye Tim.

It was a pleasure to comment on your reporting. Salon will be less a spot but as the sage put it: The only constant is change! Good luck.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:28 PM

Best of luck in the new job

Have enjoyed your reports immensely. Wherever you go, give em hell.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:28 PM

May you raise their standards

I was thinking the same thing as Lynx. Your standards have been consistently higher than Politico's. I hope you help them raise the bar.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:29 PM

Tim

Things in War Room have certainly taken a turn for the worse since the Democratic nomination race heated up, but thanks for your work nonetheless.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:31 PM

Best of Luck!

Tim, Best of luck. Your posts have in general been great (with the exception of the Democratic Presidential campaign where

in my opinion you crossed the fairness line).

Hopefully you will bring the same sharpness to Politico that you bought to the War Room?

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:33 PM

Congratulations

I've enjoyed your work and I'll be sure to read you at Politico. And you're making a good move. This rag is a shell of its former self.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:36 PM

Sorry to see you go

Your posts are one of my favorite parts of Salon. Best of luck to you at your new job.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:36 PM

:-(

Just as I was getting ready to write you a note about how much I enjoy your posts, in reaction to the nasty comments you've been getting from anti-Obama people today. I don't read Politico, and I'll miss your writing. Thanks for being here.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:37 PM

Politico?

That piece of crap? Well, I guess they pay well. I thought you were taking a job with Obama.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:38 PM

Good bye and good luck, Tim!

I tended to enjoy your writing and reporting more so than your other political journalist colleagues at Salon. I'm sorry that you're leaving for Politico, which I think is representative of a bad trend in political journalism: heavy on speculation, conjecturing, life-style, and lack of facts. However, I hope your tenure there makes it a better publication.

Once again, good luck and good bye.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:40 PM

Obama wouldn't have you?

... so you had to settle for a "job" at Politico?

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:41 PM

Farewell!

I've really enjoyed your work. Thank you, and best of luck!

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:42 PM

So Sad

Damn Tim...You're the reason I'm here at Salon. I've enjoyed nearly all of your 4,000 posts. Reading them is one of the first things I do in the morning. Your insight and humor will be missed.

Seems like you just sold you soul. Best of luck, though.

Bring it on Alex! I look forward to reading more of your posts once you take over.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:42 PM

Au Revoir

I'm sure you'll be missed here by the pro-Obama crowd, putting up their daily talking points memos. I add my name to those who think you crossed the line and maybe you'll have stronger editors at Politico.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:43 PM

Farewell

Sad to see you go. Good luck in the future!

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:44 PM

Tim

You've added enormously to my ability to keep up with very important political matters. Thanks!

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:44 PM

godspeed

Tim,

Just a note to say that I have very much enjoyed your daily posts here at War Room. You will be missed. I'll look for you on Politico.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:45 PM

War room

Great job, and I check it several times a day. I'll miss your voice.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:46 PM

I'll miss you!

For at least the last year, I've relied on you for your political insight delivered with wit and candor. I've never even bothered with RSS - I just visit your blog hourly. I'll miss you. Best of luck.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:48 PM

We'll miss you, Tim!

Love the War Room. Your replacement has some big shoes to fill!

Best of luck where ever you go.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:48 PM

Good Luck

I have enjoyed your posts over the past few years and will miss them. Best of luck. Boy, having reviewed the other responses, there are really a lot of mean spirited people out there.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:49 PM

Thanks Tim Grieve

Hi there Tim,

Thanks for your terrific reporting and biting humor. I'll miss them both. Your writing got me through a lot of Washington follies and misadventures. Good luck in you new job!

Faithful Reader

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:49 PM

Waaah!

Congratulations?

You were one of the writers I come here to regularly read. I've trusted your opinion, your analysis and your fairness consistently and completely, and really like your writing.

Buh. Good luck on your new job.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:54 PM

Bummer.

I'm sorry to see you go--I've enjoyed your posts, you Hillary-hater, Hillary-lover, Obama-hater, Obama-sheep, Edwards-stooge, Edwards-loather...

Best of luck at the Politico...may you raise the quality of reporting on exhibit there.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:56 PM

buena suerte

You're one of the highlights at Salon - glad you stayed as long as you did. Congrulations on your new gig and promotion. I hope you can make Politico standard's as high as the ones you held here.

Looking forward to what your next missive...wherever it may be.

Best wishes.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:56 PM

Best wishes

Best wishes in your new job. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of Politico, but maybe they're upgrading? Hope they appreciate you and you flourish there.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:56 PM

The King is Dead

I'll really miss you! Some of the things that the other posters haven't yet said include:

  • your posts tended to be short and pithy
  • you always left enough unsaid to provoke commentary
  • 4,000 posts! That amounts to several reasons per day to check out Salon

Best of luck with your new job. I hope you do even better there. Apparently, they (the Politico) need it.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:56 PM

Good luck TIm!

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:57 PM

Good Luck

Hate to see you go Tim. Good Luck

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:58 PM

Nooooooo

It's not often that I post comments any more but the War Room is still my first choice for political news and the main reason I've kept renewing my premium subscription. (I think it would be fair to say in the last 2-3 years I've spent a helluva lot more time in the War Room than I have in the bath room.) "Bureau chief" sounds like a step up so sincere congratulations to you. Your insight will be missed more than you can imagine.

Monday, January 28, 2008 01:59 PM

Farewell, Tim!

I join with the others who've wished you good luck at Politico!

War Room won't be the same without you.

Monday, January 28, 2008 02:02 PM

Hooray and damn and blast

This has been one of my four must-read blogs for years.

Should I rejoice that Tim will get the wider readership amongst the Villagers that he deserves? Or curse the fate that has decreed I actually have to log in to Politico sometimes now?

Whichever. Thanks for all the pith and pertinence, and best of luck.
