George W. Bush: Fighting to the Finish

Are you serious? Are you SERIOUS? That's Fox's "Special"? The piece ought to be renamed:

"George W. Bush: Fighting Desperately to stay above 32% approval while American troops die in a war they never should have fought and the American people suffer under a fiscal and economic crisis the likes of which we haven't seen since 1929 because this president squandered any sort of capital (both economic, political, and military) that he may have been able to use to prevent the current implosion of the US economy and democracy in his own country."

That's a more apt title

Who's he talking about?

"He's hiding. He's isolated. He's not out there leading any parades."

Listen to Georgie Boy's unconscious talking...

2004 election...

One thing that bothered me was that Kerry -never- used this to his advantage in 2004. I remember being very frustrated that Kerry never took this fight to Bush, and never used this during his campaign. He should have had ads running across the nation that simply showed Bush's "...dead or alive" quote, followed by something as simple as "And what has George W. Bush done to live up to this promise? Where is bin Laden now?"

We Democrats need to grow a spine.

Lawman

Wait. Bush now says that capturing bin Laden is important "psychologically" for "closure."

This is insane. Bush is the leader of the executive branch of government, which includes the responsibility for law enforcement. And he suggests that the capture and prosecution of an individual who orchestrated a conspiracy responsible for 3,000 deaths in US jurisdiction is somehow merely symbolic?

I know I should stop being shocked by this man's idiocy by now, but every day he seems to top his own standards for incompetence.

Bush isn't going to be leading any parades either

To prove it, you just need to listen to all the Republican candidates, who invoke the magic name of Ronald Reagan as often as they can, but can scarcely bear to utter a single "Bush" anywhere, anytime.

Dubya won't be helping the eventual GOP nominee during the election -- other than keeping as low a profile as possible, of course. Talk about "box office poison" (as they once did about Katharine Hepburn in the late 1930s) -- the Current Occupant will be "ballot box poison" in 2008, even more potent than he was in 2006.

935 and counting

"I will have left behind a mechanism -- and a structure for the next president to better protect America."

Is this technically a lie?

Maybe just an unfounded boast?

Why catch him?

He's the bestest most greatest boogy-man there is! The longer he stays at large, the more civil liberties we lose. The more civil liberties we lose, the more power the Unitary Executive gets. More power=more money. You really gotta hand it to these Republicans, they don't give a rat's ass HOW many human beings they have to kill, they will GET their money. I just wonder how much longer the idiot troops will buy into this BS. They're sacrificing their lives so that Bush and Cheney and all thier buds can make their warbucks. What a bunch of morons. I swear, is there something the military gives these guys that makes them so stupid? I just gotta laugh.

Thursday, January 24, 2008 11:41 AM

You believe he is alive?

He hasn't made any videos since he denied involvment in 9/11 and he hasn't complained about any of the impersonators or inferior CGI videos that have appeared since.

If he was alive, don't you think he would have complained?

Why does the mainstream media treat these fakes as if it is really him? It's all part of the show folks.

Just like the American Al Qaeda, exactly the opposite of what he is portrayed as. Just an actor playing a bad guy in a b-movie.

"...A mechanism for protecting America."

From whom? Democrats? Protesters? Brown people who want to vote for non-Republicans? Quakers?

If the "war" on Terror can now be measured by Bin Laden not "leading any parades," then congratulations to Fox News- you have dumbed down political debate to an absurdly LCD level.

"George W. Bush: Fighting the Finnish." That would make just as much sense- maybe more...

Try Pakistan.

Unfortunately, where he is 99% likely to be, American troops will never be allowed, and thats tribal Pakistan. Musharraf himself even said they aren't looking for him. If they happen to find him, good. A lot of it has to with the realization that the terror attacks don't all come from some big bad guy at the top. They are coming from brainwashed muslim youth. Even if you get bin-Laden, not much will change.

As if it was in question

Clearly- George W. Bush = Surrender Monkey

Thursday, January 24, 2008 11:57 AM

Bin Laden is DEAD people -- he has been since 2001

Get a grip.

Thursday, January 24, 2008 12:04 PM

@ timhowe - Ditto

It is a disgrace that this administration has not been able to catch or kill the worst mass murderer in his country's history. I will never understand why this has never been emphasized.

Thursday, January 24, 2008 12:04 PM

Who is he talking about?

"He's hiding. He's isolated. He's not out there leading any parades."

I had to go back and re-read this line. I thought he was talking about Dick "Last Throes" Cheney.

This just in: A new FOX "Special Report"

Tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern, "President George W. Bush: Is he the embodiment of Jesus Christ, or is he more like God himself?"

We report, YOU decide!

The "hunt" for Osama bin Laden -- a means, or an end?

Another thought -- certainly not something *I* just thought up, of course -- the "hunt" for Osama bin Laden became not an end in itself, but was instead a means for unifying support behind Bush and the GOP agenda, simultaneously shutting down most dissent in this country.

So with respect to the real mission this hunt represented, it did serve to re-elect Dubya in 2004 -- so it WAS "Mission Accomplished". (Good Lord, the shudder and nausea that comes with THAT thought -- re-electing Dubya!) It didn't help in 2006, of course, and bin Laden has little value now for the Republicans.

Thursday, January 24, 2008 12:17 PM

In order to find Osama bin Laden...

...you must first search for him.

Thursday, January 24, 2008 12:18 PM

think about what this says...

...about the Voters who support Bush. Think about just how unbelievably ignorant you'd have to be to even begin to make sense of what Bush is saying.

Not leading any parades. How stupid do you have to be to take that one at face-value?

Christ. We really are fucked. 50 million people voted for that fucker. And they'd probably do it again, if sufficiently manipulated to do so.
