935 false statements about Iraq? Yeah, well, lots of people said stuff that wasn't true.

  • 936...

    ...and counting.

  • translation

"We sold our constituents and our allies, hook line and sinker, on this complete bullshit that we knew was bullshit. And they totally bought it, at least until they found out it was bullshit, so it must not have been that big of a lie after all..."

  • No, no, I think she has a point.

Both Ried and Pelosi told anyone who would listen that they were going to change the course of the war, and stop the politics of partisanship. Those out and out lies rank right up there with "checks in the mail", and the other infamous one that Bill Clinton put to use on Lewinski...

  • obfuscation

"...after realizing that there was no WMD, as we thought as a collective body that there was, that this White House, the president set about to make reforms in the intelligence community to make sure that it doesn't happen again."

And then when the intelligence community that he himself reformed gave him a report saying Iran DOESN'T have WMD, he ignored that.

  • Uh, cuban missle crisis? What was that?

I always wonder, when I read something like this, if they truly believe what they are saying, or they realize it's just not true.

At what point do you get so used to spinning a tale that you just simply lose the ability to recognize reality?

  • So then

are we to take that as meaning that the administration was being lead by the opinion of the rest of the world and wasn't depending on it's own decision making capabilities? I thought we were world leaders - not the other way around.

  • Yeah, right...

"..., the president set about to make reforms in the intelligence community to make sure that it doesn't happen again."

OK, so the president fixed the problems in the intelligence community, and now he just ignores what they tell him. How is this an improvement?

  • In other words...

    It passed Kerry's "global test."

But really, what does it matter? THe idiot will be out of office at this time next year, and there are still about 30% of the population who will continue to back this president whether the number is 935 or 9,350,000.

  • Falsity ad Nauseum

Yes, "the president set about to make reforms in the intelligence community to make sure that it doesn't happen again," and just as quickly told Ehud Olmert he didn't agree with the NIE on Iran: "He told the Israelis that he can’t control what the intelligence community says, but that [the NIE’s] conclusions don’t reflect his own views” about Iran’s nuclear program. That makes at least 936 false statements.

  • It would be much easier

to count how many true statements Perino has made.

  • dumb blonde

Everytime Dana opens her mouth, the stereotypical "dumb blonde" becomes more and more typical.

  • Speaker Pelosi to the white courtesy phone...

Lying to start a war? Isn't that an impeachable offense..?

  • Who's paying attention anyway?

Perino makes it sound as if the intelligence community did a lousy job of intel work instead of the intelligence community produced a report with cherry picked and questionable data as dictated by this administration. So now that we've "fixed" the problem of the intelligence community getting "help" so they come up with the "correct" answer, what happens? What else? Shrub ignores it.

Just like he did the warnings that Al-Qaeda was planning an attack and that huge wad of wind and water known as Hurricane Katerina that was bearing down on New Orleans, he'll ignore anything that is reality based. Lord, save us from non-reality based weenies in Washington. So, friends and neighbors, next time you hear some politician tell you that his faith "informs" him, I want you to think of Shrub listening to the voices in his head informing him what God himself wants.

  • White House Spokesmodel Dana Peroxide

    STFU.

    In plain English:

"Myriad politically cowardly others bought into our brazen war crimes bullshit, so that makes it OK."

  • Dana Perino: Hey - we're not the ONLY lying sacks of manure.

There's plenty of other people who lie, TOO!!!

Really good job of defending your employer, ya mindless skank.

  • "to make sure that it doesn't happen again."

Unless we can gin up a war with Iran.

That woman lies like cheap rug...

  • GEORGE SOROS FUNDED THIS STUDY!!!!!

How much credit can you put into it???

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2008/01/23/ap-bush-lied-study-not-revealed-funded-george-soros

I bet you also didn't know that George Soros also funded the discredited LANCET study about the body count in Iraq. You know, the one that said 600,000 when all the others said 100,000 or less. The Lancet study also conveniently came out right before the 2006 elections. What a scumbag!

  • Hey why not

Okay let's count up the false statements by people outside of the administration and tally up how many of those lies were a direct result of intel/briefings from our illustrious government. Works for me.

  • RE What a scumbag!

Yeah, Soros unilaterally invading a nation that had never attacked the US, killing hundreds of thousands (the only ones who don't believe that are Bush sycophants and apologists: which are you?), and bankrupting our country for his own benefit is really beyond the pale. That Soros guy sounds like a real war criminal...

  • @kufir77

Oh, good, another pajama patrol troll-do those things come with the little feet or do you get your mommy to sew them on for you?

You're focusing on the medium, rather than the message. Just because someone you don't agree with finances a study does not invalidate its conclusions.

Try this site for a different view of the Lancet study--and where was it definitively discredited again?

  • In the Words of the Immortal George Kostanza...

..."It's not a lie if YOU believe it."

Nothing will ever convince the logic-free True Believers that any of it was a lie.

In Bush's orbit, you take a position, gather the facts (or lies) needed to support it, and never look back.

A method of governance that is, well, unbelievable!!

  • The Truth...it Burns

Hey Dana, after a while the lying gets to be the norm doesn't it? So many, so often, whats the big deal?

Thats the norm in YOUR world, but not here where I stand.

  • The majority of the American public gives Bush a pass on his tenure as Pres?

No matter how many times Bush and his cohorts lied, makes not a scrap of difference if the American public hasn't been riled enough to do something positive and meaningfull about it - which is clearly the case! Otherwise why haven't they removed him from office.

  • Our Dana

Her parents must be very proud.

  • nay nay na nay nay

It's more than I can bear listening to anyone involved with this administration. He is the President, who wouldn't believe he was telling us the truth. So when we all believed him that was our fault! This time the intelligence department didn't want to take the blame for incorrect information. So they made sure it got out. They did their job. And what happened, they got screwed again. King Bush Once again sets all of us lowly people straight with the help of Miss Dana to translate. Oh My God, I'm gonna snap!
