Important to Separate the Mouthpieces
Thanks for posting this, Amanda. It's nice to see a posting that fights the stereotype of evangelicals. Often it's too easy to fall into the branding trap and assume that all evangelicals are free-market, abortion-hating, literal interpretation of the bible believing nuts.
Because if we believe this then it's easy to fall into the trap. The trap set by Republican mouthpieces who say "liberals will call you stupid," "liberals will try to tell you what to do," and "liberals don't understand you."
I see too many posts that make people like Rush Limbaugh look prophetic. Posts that talk about how evangelicals don't get it, that they can't believe how stupid they are, and that mock their faith.
To disagree is one thing, but let's not make Rush Limbaugh look prophetic. Maybe the reason that it might come as a surprise to us that evangelicals have different views is that we hear the mouthpieces and don't take the time to look any further.
