The only contact a lot of us have with Evangelicals is when we see those who claim to speak for you in the media.
They certainly give the impression that you are all brainwashed Christobots who are chomping at the bit to impose a Christian version of Sharia law here in the US.
Please forgive us for taking these people at their word.
It would be helpful if we could see someone of an Evangelical persuasion in the media who did not confirm our existing prejudices.
In our defense, I must add that the root word of Evangelical is Evangelize, which I understand means to go out and try to convert others to your way of thinking/worship. A lot of us take a very dim view of that sort of behavior and find it offputting in the extreme.
When was the last time the Atheist Witnesses came trespassing on your property, uninvited in order to try to make you think like them?
