Bush: I'd be an "agent for change," too

He says it's something candidates have to say. And it is, except when it isn't.

Stay the Course?

If I remember correctly, George Bush ran for president in 2004 with the mantra "Stay the Course."

He is the king of repetition and refusal to change. And he's doing everything he can to put things in place that will make it harder for the next administration to change anything.

So I'd say this remark, like everything else that comes out of his mouth, is just more lying blather.

sigh

Not all change is good George.

things sure *have* changed since 2000

What changes has W shepherded with his stolen election?:

A costly and confused war-on-terror-without-end, exit strategy, or victory criteria.

An over-stretched, demoralized military.

A sluggish economy, that seems headed for recession, with the largest housing slump and the greatest rich-poor gap since the Great Depression.

An increasingly privileged and subsidized oligarchy/robber baron class of super-rich.

A disdain for science (whether it be for stem cell research, sex ed, global warming, CAFE standards, or mountain-top removal coal mining).

An increased reliance on "faith", and increased political power of ultra-conservative, evangelical blocs.

A complete disregard for the basics of how the economy, the environment, orld history, or global politics works.

A more conservative Supreme Court.

An increasingly irrelevant constitution.

An increasingly marginalized legislative branch.

An devolution of the press into stenographers and propagandists.

Not all change is good.

He's right.

Bush is absolutely right. Candidates MUST claim they are agents for change... IF the electorate is not happy with the current administration.

Perhaps this feckless richboy asshole could move to Baghdad

and run for president of Iraq as an Agent of Change. We certainly don't need his worthless butt around here any more.

I like...

...how he has this habit of saying things that, ostensibly, sound fine and good and intelligent...even when they are IN DIRECT CONTRADICTION to things he's done.

Of course he thinks that he would be an 'agent for change.' That's what everybody is saying. It's no great stretch to agree with that. He either thinks we're all idiots or he's just not trying too hard.

Bush Genes

The comments by G H W Bush and the moron that he must perforce admit is his progeny indicate beyond a shadow of doubt that a very low IQ and moronic behavior are inherited dominant traits. Gregor Mendel would have had a field day with the Bushies for subjects if he hadn't holed himself up in that monastary and played with peas. And whatever else you might say about Ronnie Reagan, THE GREAT COMMUNICATOR (as long as he had the script in front of him), after all the late hagiographies fade away and real historians take it to him, he will ultimately always be remembered as the AMIABLE DUNCE. However, that phenotype was apparently not a matter of genes. Ronnie's son seems to have escaped the genotypic fate of the Bushes.

The man is a fool!

We all look forward to the day when bush will become a "free agent. He'll be free to change whatever he wants, then. When you do stories like this one, you give the impression that bush actually knows what he's talking about. He tells other writers that he's going to do the Israeli/Palestinian Peace deal, and most writers buy it. This is the president who said there'd be a balanced budget by 2009 [how's that going?], we'd be in and out of Iraq in 6 months, the guy who can't end Afghanistan, stop illegal immigration, who sat back and watched fuel prices quaduple during his time in office, has weakened the US military, destroyed US global authority and relations, and took a 90% approval rating in 2003 to what hovers around 30% now [are there that many very rich Republicans?] And people continue to seek his thoughts and opinions? The man is a fool!

Agent for change?

This idiot couldn't change his underwear without someone's help. God help us all, but mostly his victims.

I am a change President!

We haven't invaded Iran yet. I'm gonna change that.

Some people think a president should be subject to the laws of the land. I'm going to change that, too.

Some people have this... misguided idea that America is a democracy. I'm working on that one. too.

I'm a change president. Change is what I do. I'm a change-inator.

If there is any justice in the world, a year from now the only meaning the word "change" will have for George Bush is that it is the word written on the styrofoam cup he is holding out on street corners.

ARE YOU KIDDING, MONKEY BOY? I GUESS HE ISN'T.....

ARE YOU KIDDING, MONKEY BOY CHIMPya W. Bush? "Agent of change?" "Change Horses in midstream?" There was an interesting comic strip in the paper called PARDON MY PLANET for 01/12/08 that showed CHIMPya showing FRANKENCheney with a placard surrounding his Torticollis(Twisted Neck) marked "PUNCH CHENEY $2" and CHIMPya is saying "All our country's money went to the war effort, but we figure this will cover the entire national debt in about 3 weeks." WHAT the cartoon should have showed was CHIMPya ALONGSIDE FRANKENCheney with the LARGER PLACARD reading "PUNCH CHIMPya andFRANKENCheney $5, PROCEEDS TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE U.S. TREASURY COFFERS"!!!!! PUT ME DOWN FOR $100.00 WORTH, I'LL MOIDER THE TWO S.O.B.'s!!!!! The National Debt would be COVERED in ONE WEEK if CHIMPya joined FRANKENCheney ALONGSIDE FOR SOME SERIOUS FACE-SMASHING FUN!!!!! CHIMPya WASN'T KIDDING, BUT THEN NETHER AM I(FIST CLENCHED AND READY TO POUND THESE TWO MISCREANTS INTO PULPY JELLY!!!!!)
