Chris Matthews is a moron
and nobody listens to him or watches his show other than other idiots in the Beltway circle who are his guests.

Looking for explanations
Hard to think that the polls were that wrong. But reversing a 10-12 point lead in one day is not an easy feat.
It occurs to me that Obama is the first candidate running against a two-term president (they've always called it a "twofer") since Wendell Willkie vs. FDR in 1940.
The 22nd amendment was enacted to control the enormous power that would be developed after eight years as the most powerful person in the world.
Perhaps the kind of power that could reverse a 10-12 point lead in one day.
One could make the argument that the former president is violating the spirit of the constitution through his participation in this campaign.

long process
It's just the primaries. Look at past elections and notice the winners.

Matthews
This morning on Scarborough Matthews was spouting this stuff too. But he used his colorful language. I quote: "Remember Tonto? Me thinks paleface lies." He then went on to explain his racist theory.

pollsters smolshters
What we had was an amazing coalition of liberals, conservatives, bloggers and msm trying to torpedo Clinton's campaign. What happened was:
1. The overused cheerleading for Obama and the "inevitable-to-deathknoll" labeling (will the cycle return) of Clinton had themselves believing what they wanted to believe.
2. A self fulfilling prophesy from all the hype had actually had driven up the poll numbers for Obama.
3 (and never the least). Obama hinged his hopes on young people. History repeats -- YOUNG PEOPLE CANNOT BE DEPENDED UPON IN ELECTIONS -- go ask Howard Dean

For once MSM and Matthews got it right: white voters lie to them and pollsters...
The intell on the voters is now coming out and as I noted white voters always lie to the media and pollsters. HRC offered the usual suspects the same tired status quo message.
Change requires courage and vision voters in states like NH in a region which is almost as racially segregated as any in this country to expect an aggregate of white voters to value vision and diversity was a steep challenge but Obama had to make his case there. In our country in 2008 even the usual suspects deserve to hear that truth.
From here it is apparent that white voters must be compelled to release themselves from thier insular cultural traits and value inclusion. They know in the world today has been leaders like HRC will not take our country into the next century with thier limited skillset in a global marketplace of demands...
White voters the majority of them especially in states like NH and others reflect these truths: most whites have never worked for a black boss, never been educated by a black teacher, never had a black doctor or lawyer never really had a black person make any significant decisions for them in life( these voters refect the same demographics by and large of those on this thread and the internet) must be convinced thet Obama has allowed whites to influence his life and as such they must have the courage to reject the past and prepare for the future..
I am convinced he is up to the task the question is are the usual suspects white voters capable of stepping up?? In NH they were not and that sadddens me...
Keeping hope alive....

It's only a matter of time.
I'm just waiting for some group -- the Building 7 nuts, perhaps? -- to claim that Clinton rigged the election. If Chris Matthews can float the race thing with a straight face, election fraud is just one small brain fart away.

Get Whitey!
Join the recently reconstituted Symbionese Liberation Army. Power to the people, right on!
Trasher is barking mad.

just like "money", it's always about race... and when they say it's not about race, it's about race ... and when it really isn't about race, well, it's about money ...
and when it's not really really about race or money it's about Bill Clinton ...
sheesh.
Imho, this self-imposed imperative to pitch some instant narrative, instant "conventional wisdom" is really pretty dangerous ...
Race remains a "national obsession," an elephant in the living room ... The rush to cast Obama as our national healer is disturbing evidence of this obsession. Thank god, Obama came along to fix this ....
Scary, dangerous, irresponsible projection.
When I heard this "theory" last night (which may or may not be a factor in New Hampshire's outcome, I gather citizens of that fine state often lie to pollsters even when race is not a factor), I thought, how cute, they already have a name for the phenomenon and have 6 relevant races (4 where it is believed to have "factored" and two where it did not) at their fingertips. How nice they're prepared.

@ Thrasher
One loss and you're playing the race card? That's weak.

THE BEST WOMAN WON!!!!!
I have been a volunteer on Hillary's campaigning since the day she announced she was running! I made two weekend trips up to New Hampshire from New York to campaign for this wonderful lady! I KNEW IT when I was at the Nashua North High School event on Sunday - where 3,700 people were packed into this gym, that the response Hillary got - PROVED N.H. LOVES HILLARY!!!!!
The BEST WOMAN won N.H. and the BEST WOMAN will win the WHITE HOUSE!!!!

It is what you make it, Susan
If you take it that way, you're going to make it that way.
And by the way, Chris Matthews, remember him? Remember who we are talking about here? Matthews is as crazy as a shit house rat. If he didn't have a cable show, he'd be in the psych ward at McLean Hospital in Boston, playing with his poop and howling like a coyote.
So if you want to believe Matthews on this racist thing, then you're going to have to swallow at least half of the other daily load of crap he puts out.
Matthews is looking for an angle, like Dr. Phil showing up at Britany's bedside.

Spare us all please.
What, New Hampshire voters are more bigoted than Iowan voters?
In this particular instance, there was no Bradley effect.
AS THE FACTS THAT WERE SPELLED OUT IN THIS ARTICLE MAKE CLEAR.
However if there is a Bradley effect in other contests, it will be cancelled out by Hillary-hate. In fact the two irrational behaviours are a good thing in this instance because they cancel each other out and give both candidates a level playing field they wouldn't otherwise have.
And let's not forget that while Obama is black he is not African-American. He's got a public persona more like your Bryant Gumbel/Wayne Brady than the more threatening Dave Chapelle/Chris Rock
He is so vanilla in fact, that in this afro-american's opinion, his election would be a hollow victory.
