QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ohh, Dana....

Thursday, January 3, 2008 10:15 AM

"What time do all the results start coming in?"

Dana, the results are in: he's the worst President in US history. Now you can all go to bed.

The Well Rested President …

Look at pictures of GW Bush in 2000 and compare them to Bush 2007. He still looks pretty good. Fit, relaxed, not a care in the world.

Compare pictures of Clinton in 92 with Clinton in 2000. You can see eight years of being President on his face.

Do the same with Bush senior. The man looked like he aged 20 years during his four years in office.

Jimmy Carter did the same.

Hell even Reagan looked like he aged in office (The layers of makeup and hair dye got progressively thicker/more obvious as the years went by).

But not good old GW Bush. He gets goes to bed early every night. Exercises every day. He doesn’t look the least bit stressed out after presiding over 9/11, two wars/occupations, major economic crises and the loss of America’s leadership in the world.

That’s the clearest proof I can offer that the man doesn’t care a whit about what’s happening around him. And certainly doesn’t care about how his decisions affect the world.

Every other President before him (even his father) has been aged by the office. Was clearly stressed by the responsibilities and demands of the job. The late nights, the ridiculous schedule, the life or death decisions affected them all.

But not Bush.

But at least he’s well rested.

Why should Bush care about Iowa?

He's been ignoring the Constitution for years, so why should he start heeding it next January?

Iowa is of no concern to him because he has no plans to leave office.

"Early to Bed"

He isn't "going to bed early," he is going to the private quarters to hit the bottle before bed. He isn't really sleeping, just unavailable and drunk.

Thursday, January 3, 2008 10:43 AM

The President needs his sleep!

Give the Bush a break! He probably has a lot of sticks to pick up tomorrow!

Ignorance is bliss.

Willful ignorance of the sort Incurious George has exhibited must feel like The Rapture.

Big time.

Thompson May Have Life

Breaking News from your Northern Mid-Continental Listening Post:

Gary Bauer, speaking on the Bob Dutko Show, WMUZ, said this afternoon that fundamentalist Christians may be turning to Thompson, because they are dissatisfied with Huckabee's record on sealing our borders, and on general fiscal matters.

Gary Bauer is a former right-wing, "Christian" presidential candidate. Bob Dutko is a right-wing "Christian" radio host.

Who cares about Iowaq?

It'll be the same flaming shit tomorrow. Question is, why are all these women and black people running to be their President?

Thursday, January 3, 2008 10:52 AM

stupid? smug?

I'm going to assume that Perino says nothing without a BushCheney script. So I can't figure out if they're so unbelievably stupid that they don't realize how bad this makes Bush look, or if they're so unbelievably smug that this is a calculated "fuck you" to the rest of us.

Thursday, January 3, 2008 10:53 AM

Well...

If I felt like cutting him some slack, I'd say that, with the situation as it is, there is little he can do about things. Every leading candidate is running on a platform of "change," and that doesn't go well with any incumbent. So probably the best thing for him to do is to just stay out of it.

On the other hand, most respectable politicians would've said something more diplomatic like, "I wish all candidates the best and am glad we get to enjoy democracy once again, blah blah blah." This A-hole decides to show his contempt once again by making a point that he'd rather sleep than to show any concern. Really. There must be tens of excuses he can give for not following the race, but he chose to either 1) specifically told Dana to say what she did, or 2) told Dana to make up something.

It's difficult to defend this guy, even if I wanted to.

Thursday, January 3, 2008 11:11 AM

When has Dubya been awake?

The man wants to maintain his "legacy". To me, he will always be "Uncurious George".

The only time he seems to come out his coma is when he talks about the death and destruction of Iraq, the "WWIII" comment, or to use the bully pulpit to attack the "Democrats".

Thursday, January 3, 2008 11:14 AM

I don't care if Bush goes to bed early

As far as I can see the guy has been asleep at the wheel for seven years. There's a reason Cheney has aged in office.

Thursday, January 3, 2008 11:40 AM

I will be very glad when January 2009 is here

Then I can stop reading paranoid sentences such as these:

"Iowa is of no concern to him because he has no plans to leave office." !!!

Do you people really believe Bush would actually be able to function in office at all in such a scenario? I know they've gotten away with murder for the past 7 years, but c'mon - find a new fantasy conpiracy theory or something to get yourself all upset about. This one has gotten really old hat.

Bush's unconcern

An earlier poster, eesmier, speculated that Bush has no reason to be cncerned about what happens in Iowa because he has no plans to leave office. I wish I didn't have the nagging, prickling suspicion that there might be something to that. It is a little hard to just blithely assume that after Bush, Cheney and their cohorts have made such strenuous efforts to accumulate power in the executive, bypassing constitutional checks and effective oversight, they would simply and routinely hand that power over to someone else. Especially since there is a very real chance that the person could be someone whose political orientation is just the opposite of theirs. Can we really put it past Bush, Cheney and company to pull some kind of fast one? Their conduct in office hasn't exactly shown a high regard for the Constitution or the rule of law. I think we had better be very alert to any indication of something funny going on.

Thursday, January 3, 2008 12:07 PM

Misspelling

That was essmeier whose speculation I was responding to.

Thursday, January 3, 2008 12:18 PM

@astroboy

I put nothing past the Mayberry Macs. Just look at Vladimir "I looked into his eyes" Putin. These people stole an election, violate the constitution, and ignore congressional legislation by writing themselves excuse notes. I wouldn't be surprised if they engineered the theft of this election with the help of the Supreme Court and a McCain/Lieberman ticket, then used an executive order to appoint Cheney first minister in the name of Jesus Christ. Tim Russert and Wolf Blitzer will interupt American Idol or WCW Raw to make sure the 'murican people fully unnerstan. Call me a paranoid conspiracy theorist if you want. We live in the United States of Oceania
