Force of habit.
I'm still not sure he can win in November, but nice job in Iowa.
or is Edwards still being ignored by MSM? I'm sitting here, watching CNN, and it's still Obama... Clinton... Obama... Clinton. Yeah, Obama won, but it's lookin' good for Edwards to come in with a strong second place finish and they still can't acknowledge the man's accomplishment other than mentioning the percentage points after his name.
Maybe this will make Salon stop trying to force Hillary down our throats, or at least ease up a bit.
Edwards has been pretty ignored from the outset. The most ridiculous reason being that he "already lost once" (from these letters boards).
I'm an Obama supporter, but I'm pulling for Edwards too.
Last I checked he was tied with Hillary. Not to say that's not great for him(and us), but it's not a real 'strong second' until Hillary drops to third, no?
for Joan to figure out how to spin this negative for Barack, and suck up to Hillary yet again...
In the sense that 30% is a strong finish for someone who has virtually been ignored. And "strong" in the fact that he (and Hillary) didn't get beat in a landslide by Obama. Obama can't rest on his laurels- they are both still in it.
Can I also just take a moment to bask in the glory that is Giuliani in second to last place? Last place if we can agree that Hunter isn't a serious candidate.
> Can I also just take a moment to bask in the glory that is Giuliani in second to last place?
While that's nice for the short-term, wouldn't it have been better for this slimeball to win the Republican nomination, and serve as the face of the Republican Party for the better part of a year?
I'm hoping Hillary gets second (assuming there is no chance she can still get first).
Yeah. I said it.

My feeling is that the Republicans electing somebody who isn't a bible-thumping social-conservative moron would be a step in the right direction. Yes, Giuliani is a lousy choice for President. But his social politics still make him a far better choice than any of the other mainstream Republican candidates.
I was pulling for Edwards and I have my doubts about Obama, given his corporate funding and vague stands. But to see the establishment Clinton and Giuliani go down so hard after being anointed by the media in the early fall is a breath of fresh air -- especially Guiliani, who is the scariest candidate and who got drubbed.
And even given my doubts about Obama, it is thrilling to ponder the increasing possibility that the world will see the US elect a black man. I think he will be hard to beat now as he has a good shot at taking New Hampshire and South Carolina, giving Clinton a mighty uphill climb. All his young voters have seen their potential and that's got to be motivating.
As long as the GOP doesn't nominate McCain, it would be hard for any Democrat to lose the general (even taking into account their ability to screw up toast).
I am glad to see that I am not the only one who has started to be bothered by Salon's obvious bias towards Clinton. The recent coverage has caused me to visit Salon less and less frequently. It seems that the independent news source that was so valuable in the past as an antidote to the corporate-run news has decided to become part of the problem.
I don't want a pro-Hillary version of FOX"News". I want the old Salon back.
Salon hates its readers, and we, dirty little co-dependents we are (myself included), keep coming back for more. Except Glenn Greenwald. He's incredibly awesome. And Joe Conason.
Why is there a darkened strangely cropped photo of Barack Obama with his teeth showing on the title page of Salon? I challenge anyone to recall a similarly unflattering picture of any other winning candidate.
I saw an excerpt of Joan's blog for tomorrow: "Clinton won a strong third-place finish in Iowa, while Barack Obama polled only a disappointing 38%, following his drubbing with a tone-deaf 'victory' speech."
You said it!
Joan's typing it right now, and Walter Shapiro is doing his own sycophantic writeup about Hillary's 3rd place "win"...
Apparently, you're not in on the biggest non-secret in town... Salon hates Obama.
That is why they pick the most unflattering photo they can find.
