Where is the media onslaught from the left?
Headlines:
"Republicans continue to block health care for children"
"Republicans bring congress to a standstill, block all progress"
We are letting them frame the debate.
Again

I Hate When That Happens ...
The Hill quotes House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) as saying, "It’s certainly another example of the Democrats caving to the Republican position at the eleventh hour."
Damn, I hate it when he's right.
And as long as the Dems don't make it so that it hurts to go against this sort of bill, that actually improve people's lives, he's going to keep being right.

@bignose
"Where is the media onslaught from the left?"
LOL. What media on the left?
Elephantman, where are you? I need you to give us your enormous list of the liberal media.
LOL.

Make Bush veto. Make the Republicans filibuster.
The Democrats roll at the first hint of a scowl on the Republicans face. Get some courage, Democrats! Call these goons' bluff. Make them fililbuster. Make them show the nation that they're a bunch of obstructionist jerks. Make Bush veto popular bills.
Do the Democrats have any political advisors who actually know how to win at politics? Maybe they can just double Karl Rove's asking price and bring that pig onboard, since at least he knows how and where to stick the knife.

We'll see how smug Republicans are in November...
when they find out who loves spending billions on killing people and "nada" (a bow to Bush's masterery of espanol, but not empathy)on enough health care for...wait for it...kids.
Puppy torturers and kid neglecters. Whooeee. The win column is practically all filled up for those warm and fuzzy purveyors of misery and arrogance.

What the headlines should say...
Bush Vetoes Healthcare For Sick Kids
Handful of House Republicans Block Will of Senate and House Majorities: Sick Kids Suffer
Republicans Claim Victory... Over Sick Children
Bush, the Grinch Who Stole Healthcare
The really sick thing is people like Boehner grinning like Cheshire cats that the Democrats "caved again." As though that were the point. Technically, they should at least be glad because they're holding true to the Republican mantra of fiscal responsibility and small government(snort). Real people will suffer because of the Republican "tyranny of the minority," so you'd better be damned sure it was truly worth it. And pummeling your enemy isn't a worthy enough goal.

Well, so far come election time...
I'm faced with choosing between the party of the warmongering, lawless corporatocracy or a party of self-defeating, latter day Neville Chamberlains.
The only question remaining in my mind is how next will my party shoot itself in the foot. That, and how come they never seem to run short of feet or of ammunition...

Bah, humbug!
"The bill's passage is portrayed today as a big victory for President Bush -- and a defeat for Democrats."
And a devastating loss for America's children. All Children Left Behind, that's the Republican mantra. And just in time for Christmas, too.

An alternate universe?
The Republicans control both houses of congress and the Democrats are powerless to stop them.
The Republicans lose both house houses of congress and the Democrats are powerless too stop them.
How exactly does that work?
The voters may have given congress to the Democrats in 2006, but someone else is definitely wanking their chains. Should they hold congress and gain the White House in the 2008 elections I'll be very courious to hear what their excuses will be...and rest assured nothing will change.

We are trapped
between the jackels and the lambs. Guess which one will be dining on our flesh? Thanks, Nancy, you do such a 'heck' of a job, you should be heading FEMA. Disgraceful.

Curses Foiled Again
Remind me again why it was so great that Democrats regained control of both houses of congress.
Pelosi is barely competent on her best days, while Reid could only hope to be that "good". Meanwhile: the administration is still torturing people in our name; we're still bogged down with a failed strategy in Iraq, with more money flowing down that sinkhole every day; and now we've gone backwards (in terms of percentage of coverage) on SCHIP.
That, of course, is barely the tip of the iceberg, but to list them all is just too depressing during what's supposed to be a joyful season.
In the words of Charlie Brown, aaaaarrrrgghhh.

Beyond outraged and disappointed
I am all but CONVINCED now there is absolutely no differences between the party except talk. I'm furious that the Dems don't take a stand, make the Republicans philibuster for war, for killing our children, for short-funding our vets. I'm beyond furious and I'm exhausted. I honestly suspect something else is going on here. When two obstemsibly opposite parties come up with the exact same results, the same actions, I suspect there is only one party with one agenda and two faces -- one for the conservatives and one for the liberals. Am I the only one who finds such betrayal by the Democratic party to be utterly inexcusable -- unless, we're simply being lied to and led by the nose.
A pox on both their houses.

Republicans Defeat Sick Children
Showing resolve in the face helpless opposition, the Republicans once again struck a blow for for-profit healthcare, allowing them to devote even greater sums for the war, about to enter its fifth year with the added bonus of being able to give the finger to sick children of the poor. The GOP, aided and abetted by the President, balked at the additional $35 billion Democrats wanted to add to SCHIP, arguing that it be better spent on a few months of war funding.
Once again, keeping us safe from the dangerous peril of socialized medicine, and WMD, the GOP steadfastly refuses to be cowed by sick children who lacked the foresight to be born wealthy.
Making the Democrats look weak and ineffective was a huge factor in the their strategy. Democrats, for their part, merely added that they look weak and ineffective.
*I guess you don't need to be a monkey with a typewriter working for US News to come up with this kind of fecal matter.

I'm not in charge of the the 2008 ad campaigns
But somebody who is should definitely take the tack that:
1) When the republicans were completely in charge, they did their best to ruin the country.
2) As long as there was a republican president, congress was unable to fix what was ruined.
3) Therefore, you must really hate America if you vote for a republican president in 2008.
