Rove may be gone...

But his spirit lives on.

Friday, December 14, 2007 11:26 AM

Ouch..

Talking about crossing over to the dark side. No more pretense of outsider, breath of fresh air politics. Rollins is the definition of corrupt, divisive campaigns.

Friday, December 14, 2007 11:36 AM

Ah yes, the party of "moral absolutes"...

shows their true colors yet again. Too bad nobody ever pays attention.

Friday, December 14, 2007 11:46 AM

so much for the high ground

It is clearly much easier to take the moral high ground (as you define it) when you are a minor candidate. Power corrupts, and even the scent of it is enough to do it. Now that he thinks he has a shot, it will be an attempt to win at any cost.

He has recently also taken a very un-christian stance on illegal immigration. Has he forgotten that Jesus was an immigrant? He and his family fled from Judea to Egypt to avoid Herod's "slaughter of the innocents". Would be a different world if they were stopped and turned back at the border, now wouldn't it?

Huckamuck

Great. Now even the only Republican who appeared to have a chance of not engaging in Dirty Tricks has entered the pig pen of high-stakes politics. Now, no matter who they nominate, we're in for a hideous campaign of negativity and slime.

"only Republican who appeared to have a chance of not engaging in Dirty Tricks"

He was a sleaze-bag when he was governor of Arkansas. this doesn't suprise me at all.

Friday, December 14, 2007 12:07 PM

There is more to Ed Rollins

He is also the "Morning In America" political consultant who helped guide Ronald Reagan to victory in 1984. This does not bode well for the other Republicans in the race. Remember there has only been one Republican landslide at the national level in recent memory and Rollins was at the helm.

He is a throw back to a different kind of consultant, pre-Rove and pre-Atwater. It leaves me wondering if he understands some of the changes that have occurred in recent years, but it also portends to a less divisive campaign. I think a change in tone is actually good for the Republican, more than the Democrats.

Friday, December 14, 2007 12:38 PM

Almost...

Rollins is sort of a Republican Bob Shrum...suggests that Huck just doesn't have it.

Friday, December 14, 2007 12:42 PM

Jesus

Would throw all of them out of the temple. And that includes the Huckster.

Friday, December 14, 2007 01:10 PM

Ugly is as ugly does

Wow, looks like Huck found his Tom Sawyer in Ed "Funny Money" Rollins. May the whitewashing begin!

Rollins a Well-known Skunk

Didn't I just read last week that he was heading up the renewed effort to make California's Electoral College votes more "democratic"? Huck ain't got the bucks anyway. And he ain't going to get the bucks. The R establishment--as Jonathan Martin points out at Politico: National Review is the flagship of the conservative establishment--is starting to line up behind Romney, who as well could easily spend $75 million out of his own pocket. Shtupgate and Bernie have killed Rudy. Fred bellyflopped right out the gate. McCain and Paul don't stand a chance. Mitt's 'da Man! I believe, in spite of his newfound right-wing "convictions"--the man is a flipfloppin' chameleon whore--that he will have strong appeal to independents and moderates with his squeeky cleanness, business and management experience, etc. and that he will be a very tough opponent. I am concerned and I think you should be too!

Funny Title...

And a great post.

Who Would Jesus Parole (WWJP)?

Jesus used to hang around with whores (like Ed Rollins), but I don't think he ever paid them. So unless Rollins is doing this for nothing (and he wouldn't even scratch his balls unless he were being paid), then I suggest that Jesus is about to be crucified again.

Which begs the question: How will Eddie Boy explain away Huckabee's "Willie Horton"? With the same acronym perhaps?

WWJP = Who Would Jesus Parole?

You are Using HIS Name Sacrilegiously

I can see in the title and comments that some people around here take the Name of Our Lord in vain! Its really quite outrageous. If this were a Muslim country and you used His name this way, we know what would happen. You are so lucky to live in Christian Nation! Our nation's founders, Christians to a man--they certainly understood that a woman's place was in the home--would have been shocked with what people now do with the freedom they fought for. No new taxes! Go Mitt! A Christian Leader for our Times!

Holy Rolly!

With the Huckster bringing The Brawler on-board, one can expect to see some bare-knuckled politicking coming down the pike from Little Mister Sunshine (aka Pastor Huckabee).

Ed Rollins is an unrepentant street fighter, the perfect campaign operative to hustle the Christian base.

Ross Perot, too

.. a rollins client in 1992.

@ Sabatia

Okay, I know I'm kind of dense when it comes to other peoples' subtle humor, but...you are joking, right? Founding fathers...Christian to a man?

Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.

-Thomas Jefferson, February 10, 1814

Huckabee, Romney, et al need to brush up on their history.

@""only Republican who appeared to have a chance of not engaging in Dirty Tricks"

Once again, everyone forgets Ron Paul. I have seen no evidence or even suggestion that he is dirt tricketering.

Saturday, December 15, 2007 07:18 AM

Please, tell me!

The only question I have for Mike is; based on your deep Christian understanding, are Cheney and bush candidates for Heaven or Hell? We all know they lied and sinned the USA into war with Iraq, a war that has produced a humanitarian disaster and 10's of thousands of dead innocent human beings. Can the Jesus Christ you know ever be able to forgive these two guys for their misdeeds? Please, tell me!

Saturday, December 15, 2007 11:47 AM

Huckabee and Rollins

I heard Rollins say on NBC that Huckabee IS Ronald Reagan...that being with Huck is just like working with Reagan.

In that case, Huckabee-Reagan is sleep walking through this whole thing....time for the Dems to wake him up.

The Republican controlled Mass Media is not going to allow the public to get any information that would benefit the candidates. Rollins fits right in.

With Martin of the FCC trying to allow the Mogul Media to scoop up the rest of the Peoples airwaves, we will never know what is really happening.

The vote will be this Wednesday. Monday, Tuesday, WEDNESDAY...we have so much to lose and so little time.

@ coloneblog

>Can the Jesus Christ you know ever be able to forgive these two guys for their misdeeds?

The christians say he is pretty much a forgiveness machine, the one catch is you have to be honestly sorry for your misdeeds. What the odds of that happening? Slim to none.
