Rudy Giuliani weaves his way through Tim Russert.

  • Objective? What objective?

So we have another Republican warmonger who can't put into words exactly what we're doing in Iraq.

  • "For as long as necessarily to get the strategic objective achieved."

    Whatever that is.

  • Objective?

For years now, it has been a complete mystery to most of us just what the "strategic objective" we are so close to achieving is in Iraq. I don't understand how the press -- so many reporters -- have let every member of this administration, and are now letting the candidates, talk about our "objective" in Iraq without ever asking the OBVIOUS follow-up question: "In your mind, exactly what IS the objective? And how will we determine that it has been met?"

  • there may be a possibility of a chance

Besides the fact that Rudi doesn't seem to understand what "strategic" means, consider 'our military thinks there's a chance we can...."

Based on that triple attenuation of possibility, Macho Rudi is willing to leave US troops in the middle of a civil war indefinitely. A civil war almost certainly exacerbated by the presence of those troops.

  • Objective?

Bush has made it very clear that our objective in Iraq is to succeed. Hope that helps.

  • Can somebody please tell me the difference between Rudy and Hillary?

Seriously. We all know Hillary won't make a stand on anything in her speeches or in the debates. Oh, except that she likes both diamonds and pearls.

So we'll look at her voting record, and judge her views based on that.

With this data, please tell me the main differences between Hillary and Rudy.

    Thanks.

  • Sure when Tim Russert opens his books to my auditor

Who pays Tim's salary, investment income? Who are his partners? The idea that he would press Rudy on divulging his client list is retarded. And if anyone of Tim Russerts partners have ever been investigated by anyone then America has a right to know and to have the final word on his employment. After all, all men are responsible for whether their customers hire illegal alien babysitters, aren't they?

  • Iraqs standard line

"I did'nt see the emormity of it" Neither did the administration at the time.

This quote works for the administration decision for preemptive war, occupation and a weak or failed strategic objective for an escape plan.

Yea, I know it just the opposite of Whatever it takes.

  • Anon - Hillary and Rudy.

I think the major difference between the 2 is Rudy is being supported by Fox New's Roger Ailes and Hillary got thousands of dollars of support from Rupert Murdoch at a fundraiser for her at News Corp. headquarters.

So my answer to you would be:

    Roger Ailes = Rudy

    Rupert Murdoch = Hillary

I know Hillary attended the Fox News 10th anniversay party, I'm not sure if Rudy did so she seems to be the best choice for Fox viewers at this point. She's also far ahead of Rudy in endorsements by lobbyists.

  • "I didn't see the enormity of it"

Yeah, but he sure figured out that he could use it's "enormity" to try to fly that puppy right into White House. A unapologetic opportunist to the bitter end, giuliani has used his inability to grasp the big picture of what brought those terrorists to do their deed to redirect its awful result into a fear-laced run at the presidency. Whatever the outcome of his dreary attempt to become president, the world will never be a safer place with him in any position of power.

  • You thought he survived?

He came off dreadful. He was nervous, not very articulate -- about as presidential as an over-caffeinated schoolgirl. Too bad so many Red State Republicans don't watch MTP, Rudy would be finished for good, right now.

  • Results

Judge him by what kind of "results" he's gotten from his appointees - We'd be in for four more years of Brownies, Tenets, Bremers. and Gonzos....

  • Situational ethics

MR. RUSSERT: Using that reasoning, would it be appropriate for a president to provide Secret Service protection for his mistress?

MR. GIULIANI: It would not be appropriate to, to do it for that reason, Tim, and that isn’t, that, that isn’t the right way to—you know, that isn’t the right way to, to analyze it or to say this. The reason it’s done is because somebody threatens to do harm, and the people who assess it come to the conclusion that it is necessary to do this. The reality is that it all came about because of my public position, because of the fact that when people are public or celebrities these kinds of threats take place. And the New York City Police Department has rules; they applied the rules, they applied them in exactly the same way as they always apply them. I did not make the judgment. I didn’t ask for it. Judith didn’t particularly want it, but it was done because they took the view that it was serious and it had to be done this way.

Shorter: it's not appropriate for a president's mistress or a mayor's mistress to get free taxpayer-funded security . . . unless, of course, the professionals decide it's necessary.

  • Wish Russert had mentioned

Too bad Russert didn't toss into the conversation that Michael Bloomberg's GF, all spectacular nearly six feet of her, walks down NY streets alone and takes the subway to work.

  • Giuliani is a LOSER.

That's all I have to say.
