If true, we now have a President who pardoned someone who committed a crime, as determined by a jury of his peers, done with the approval and direction of the President and Vice President.

How long before Chris Matthews jumps on this? Brian Williams? It'll be interesting to see if the media covers this bit of news. My guess is that editors and journalists will think this is old news despite the obvious illegality of using pardon powers to cover up your own crimes. Something, I might add, that was noted at the time of the Libby pardon, that it reeked of potential conflict of interest and illegality.

And how long before Congressional hearings begin with McClellan as a star witness? Don't hold your breath.

Sadly, it seems the law doesn't matter, or apply, if you're a politician in Washington. Not to the President certainly. Not to Pelosi or Reid. Not to the Attorney General.

Nobody will even raise an eyebrow at this. The Bush Administration deliberately lying to the public? People would be much more surprised to find out they had been told the truth. Unfortunately, expectations have been beaten down so far that everybody will just roll over and take it, as usual, and hope for something better in 2009.

One of the wonderful things about The West Wing was the revelation through the character of CJ Craig, of the tensions surrounding talking to the press secretary. They are a member of the administration, but in charge of talking to the press. In order to be useful, they must believe what they say to reporters. I think in McClellan's case, this entailed practicing the arts of the hear-no-evil and see-no-evil monkeys. This did not prevent him from becoming the speak-no-evil monkey.

No, I don't expect this revelation to bring about impeachment or even another spate of administration and/or Cabinet resignations. Only this: it is good to know that not everyone affiliated with this administration is allergic to the truth.

How is the public to have faith in this administration? Another breach of faith and still no effort to punish those lowering this nations standard. Whats next?

Ooh... McClellan says they lied to him. Poor sad chipmunk-boy, so tough to be him. He had no clue, obviously. No inkling. This is McClellan in the corner, that's him in the spotlight, losing his religion.

And let's stop this talk about "will they impeach him now." They will not. McClellan is not making any huge revelations here. We KNOW Rove was involved, we can be certain Cheney was involved because Libby was involved, and whether or not Bush was involved is irrelevant: he isn't the Decider anyway. The members of Congress knew all this, too. They didn't watch this on the Daily Show, they are IN D.C., they witnessed all these events and even took part in them. They will not do a thing to condemn the lies that took us to Iraq (and this is what it's all about) because they're guilty too. If they impeach Bush, and Cheney and whoever else was involved that hasn't retired, if they begin criminal proceedings, this thing will snowball and they will ALL end up in jail. Maybe not, but I bet you money that this is what they fear. Only a handful of them are innocent of this.

I do not know whether our Nation has ever been run by a group of truly honorable people. What I do not that it is decidedly NOT run by honorable people today.

I sincerely hope McClellan's book joins all the other crap written by and about Bush administration officials (e.g. Tenet and Rumsfeld and Rove) in the dark pit of oblivion, where it belongs.

That go back years and years. Odd that he would rat them out at this point unless he was feeling heat from another quarter. Or, he recognizes the era of Bush is nearly over and there's nothing that they can do to either help him or harm him.

McClellan's skill set, I suspect, is no different from that of your typical criminal defense attorney. There's a way to question your client and get the information you need out of him while deliberately avoiding asking any sorts of questions that you know you're not going to like the answer to (and if your client starts to spontaneously answer those types of questions, you put your fingers in your ears and start yelling, "I'm not hearing this! La la la la la!!" Then you can rightfully claim later that you didn't "know" certain things. It's a game they all play.
