  • Hey! This is the second Salon "Quote of the day" about the word "bitch"

And I feel compelled to say: quote is a verb; quotation is a noun--no matter what you learned in J-school.

  • I can't believe how much press Salon is giving this

I don't whether it's because Thou Shalt Not Disparage Hillary or they're just being their usual shallow noisy blogger twits but I'm dumbfounded why this gets so much attention.

  • McCain is craven . . .

. . . and frequently dishonest, but this is not fair. First, who cares if he said he respects Hillary first, second, or last - he said it, at least, which is more than any of the other Repugs would do. And he says it a lot, actually, because, I think, its actually true. Second, his supposed ability to beat Hillary has been a central part of his campaign for some time - duh. Of course he's going to use references to the incident - its been all over the media. Kudos to him for voicing respect for her in the process, even if he's tried to "improve" his immediate response. He's definitely among the least gutter dwelling of the Republican candidates.

  • Nothing surprising here

McCain's fund raisers are simply going with the B-word incident because it currently has a lot of "buzz". His campaign needs all the buzz it can get at the moment so no one should be surprised that the McCain would let this incident be used. After all, McCain is the same guy who said what a swell guy Bush was (and even hugged him) after Bush's campaign trashed him so badly during the 2000 primary.

Having a CNN put Mike Allen on the air to say "[W]hat Republican voter hasn't thought that? What voter in general hasn't thought that?" bothers me more if that's the caliber of contributors that they look for.

  • And

    And your point is?

  • @anonymous

    And I feel compelled to say: quote is a verb;

But, it is also a noun, so......

    Quote, "You're wrong." Unquote

  • Anonymous

My point is that McCain and the old hag that asked the question are about 160 years old combined. I say we cut them some slack for senility.

  • You know . . .

If the Republicans spent less time calling Hillary a bitch and more time making Osama bin Laden their bitch, maybe they wouldn't be suffering from abysmal approval ratings.

  • Lets drop it

    This story is beneath us.

Let the American Spectator and Matt Drudge get worked up in a frenzy over these non-stories. McCain did nothing wrong. In fact, I thought he handled it fairly well.... and I'm a Clinton supporter.

  • Micki

Wrong. Quote is always a verb, no matter what journalism school teaches.

    Buh-bye.
