What was that again, Sen. Biden?

Giuliani, Clinton and ... 9/11!

The letters thread is now closed.

"Did I miss something?"

I think you can pretty much take that for granted.

9/11 drinking game -- great idea!

i'll wait 'til the next republican debate to play, since playing during a rudy guiliani interview/speech/etc. is likely to sicken me before lunch. now, if he got more play in the evening hours, we'd be in business -- and drunker'n sailors in 15 minutes flat, if that.

when is the next republican gagfest, anyway? wanna make sure to have some patron on hand.

CT Voter

CT Voter, thanks for explaining the Biden reference. I didn't get it either until you reminded me of that quip. Completely accurate. Giuliani should withdraw from the race and run for President of 9/11. Somehow I get the feeling that if by some quirk of fate he actually wins the presidency a 9/11-scale terrorist attack will "coincidentally" occur near the end of his presidency, and he'll try to pull a similar stunt to what he did on 9/11: in other words, he'd declare martial law and cancel elections. We'd be left with President-For-Life Rudolph Giuliani. Now there's an appealing thought.

I think it's great

The more he says 9/11, the more it either becomes a joke, or white noise. By the time the real campaign gets going, the mantra will have no power any more, or will just make people laugh. He's using up all the capital 9/11 gives him on the primary.

911,911,911,911, puke...

"How does middle America feel about the Iraq War? Yesterday’s election gave a good indication, in the results of two referendums in Montana.

In Helena, voters backed a referendum – by a 5,032 to 3,108 margin — “urging the Congress of the United States to authorize and fund an immediate and orderly withdrawal of the United States military from Iraq.” That’s nearly 62 percent of the vote.

A referendum asking Congress to “fund our military forces totally and without conditions in the global war on terror” went down to defeat.

In Missoula, a referendum asking Congress “to authorize and fund an immediate and orderly withdrawal of the United States military from Iraq in a manner that is fully protective of U.S. soldiers” won with nearly 65 percent of the vote.

The question now is what Congress intends to do about it."

(taken five minutes ago off the wire on NYTIMES.com)

Montana folks, friggn' Montana. Schumer, you are truly a wuss and have no right to be representing the people of NY State. Defund the friggn' war pal! I bet a referendum similar to this would bring close to 80% approval in NY State. I mean, really, Chuck, who the f**k wants an Attorney general who thinks water boarding is "legal" or wire tapping is within the limits of presidental power? What state are you representing Chuck? Montana? No, wait, those guys are starting to become clear thinkers. Perhaps Connecticut...

Giulianai

A-Ha! Another Giuliani sentence with 9/11 as a noun, verb, object of a preposition,

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 10:43 AM

Is it possible...

that Giuliani may be suffering from some form of psychosis brought on by the trauma of 9/11? Anyone that makes so many pointless references to 9/11 in their reply to a simple question may have some festering mental issues. I hope he seeks help because Americans sure can't risk the possibility of having another mental defective as president.

RE 9/11 Tourette's

"Someday we will find a cure."

Only if the GOP can be shamed into stopping themselves from exploiting it every chance they get, and the chance of that is about the same as them abiding by Godwin's Law...

Or any law, for that matter.

Rudy Drinking Game

You'd die of alcohol poisoning three minutes after starting.

9/11 Tourette's

Someday we will find a cure.

Thanks CT

I knew it must be something like that.

That is funny.

Rudy and the college crowd

Maybe it's time for a Rudy drinking game - everytime he says "9/11", you take a drink.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 09:08 AM

I finally get it

I think RG is traumatized, really. He reminds me of my friend who marks everything by his divorce. "That was the year of", "that was just before", "that was just after", and everything he sees or experiences he relates to his broken relationship and/or his ex-wife.

Rudy, honey, please take your recovery somewhere else. We're trying to choose the leader of our nation over here.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 09:02 AM

@jef

Biden, at the last debate, said of Rudy (and I'm paraphrasing): every thing he says involves a noun, a verb, and 9/11...

Hence the connection.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 08:58 AM

Biden?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand what this has to do with Biden? I'm not being sarcastic here; maybe someone could explain that.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 08:52 AM

The balloon drop will come down in two columns

If Giuliani goes to the Republican convention with the nomination sewn up I bet the convention stage will be a big, glitzy set of the famous World Trade Center latticework wreck.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 08:43 AM

OK, we know WHEN you got to know her, but....

I didn't get what his personal feelings were--and who gives a crap, anyway??

I'm betting his answer took exactly 9.11 seconds to deliver...

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 08:13 AM

Did I miss something?

This is relevant to the presidential race how, exactly?

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 08:06 AM

Rudy

I watched a few minutes of "Joe in the Morning" this AM. He asked his two cohorts, Mika and Willy, who they predicted would win the presidency. They balked at predicting a year out, but Joe pushed them. They both said Rudy and backed it up with "based on how he's doing today." The real comedy of the moment was that just then they put up a graphic showing the results of a new USA Today poll indicating Hillary at 59 and Rudy at 45.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 08:02 AM

sigh. whatever.

it never ceases to amaze me how the same ilk who are still pissy about bill clinton's indiscretion with monica lewinsky have no problem supporting a two-time adulterer, particularly one who was toting his then-mistress, now-corpse bride judith nathan around on the public dime as part of his city hall "entourage." what nerve! the reason he talks about sept. 11 so much is 'cause on sept. 10, his ass was getting vilified in new york papers for being a ruthless cad. i bet miss judi won't be participating in any "candidates' spouses" forums. cheaters, the both of 'em.

rudy & judi: our nation's "first couple?" don't make me gag.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 07:59 AM

This is just a guess

But I have a strong feeling that when Rudy poops, the turds come out in perfectly scaled boluses which when lined up spell out 9/11 in Morse Code.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 07:50 AM

jeez

911, 911, 911, 911, 911

talk about echo chambers!
