  • "One more sign that the Clinton campaign's "boys against girl" frame isn't exactly accidental"

Or the Clinton campaign is just taking advantage of the situation. They're nothing if not opportunistic.

  • Lizard Folk

It takes an expert to determine the sex of a lizard.

I shall await the opinion of a herpetoligist before I pass judgement on any of the candidates other than the human male with the splendid mate, ideals, character, morals and ethics.

I for one do not care for knowing the sex of a lizard and have no interest in what lies in the confines of the cloaca of any of the lizard folk as that is their concern and not mine and their concerns are not those of mammals such as myself and that human with the pointy ears, splendid mate, ideals, character, morals and ethics.

Any lizard can put on a dress, just look at Guiliani.

  • "Accidental?"

Oh, Tim, really. And you're usually so level-headed.

Perhaps it's hard for penis-wearers to see, but much of what passes for "criciticism" of Senator Clinton is sexist attacks. You know, exactly the kind of thing that would put the country in an uproar if they were said about blacks, et al.

No, it's not "accidental." There is a real subtext of sexism, and there is a real backlash beginning among female voters. We may disagree with her among ourselves, but when one of our own is subjected to sexist framing by those in our own party, we rally 'round.

In fact, your attempt to frame this as a phony phenomenon and mere campaign slight-of-hand victimhood is the calcualted, cynical and "not accidental" insincerity. Please put your level head back on. This one doesn't inspire great cofidence in you.

  • WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!

I will not let this get spun into an argument about tactics. This is getting stupid. The fact is she needs to be called to task. The argument over her integrity is an important one. The argument over what she really stands for must be had. The argument over her record is important. THIS IS NOT ABOUT political maneuvering, and who is the best at giving good BS and has the best smile during an argument on TV…This is about issues! I am getting sick of the real issues and the real arguments that we should be having being overshadowed by and turned into a talent show.

I don’t care about her being a woman. I don’t care if she can hold a smile while being “attacked”. I don't want someone who is "good at playing the washington game". I hate the washington game and want it gone...not continued! I ONLY care about if she will work to fix the problems we are having in this country, or will she keep digging us deeper.

And you know what? I think she is going to dig us deeper. She has already divided the party, how is she going to unite the nation? If I can't trust her in the primaries, how can I trust her in power? How can non democrats ever trust her, for that matter, if her own party does not?

If you disagree, that is what you have convince me of that, not that she will be the best campaigner champion

That is why this is TOO IMPORTANT to be turned into an argument about who has the best one liners!

  • It's not about the boys ganging up on the girl.

I am a 58 year old woman and I am angry. I am very angry about the debate - but not about "the boys against a girl." I am furious that tim Russert decided he must be a particpant rather than moderator. I am angry that NBC decided to insert themselves into the debate process "to mix it up." As MSNBC's Chris Matthews said repeatedly that he wanted them "to go after Clinton."

And they did. I am furious that Obama, Edwards and the rest decided to use negative language (lie, dishonest, etc)to point up disagreements. Above all, I want a Democratic president in 2008 and I am angry that they used Republican tactics that have so harmed this country. Yeah Bush won with these tactics and look what it cost the country. I am furious that they did not choose to elevate discourse to the level that would inform the citizen.

I was a supporter of Edwards and really thought Obama was exciting. Well, they convinced me to sign on to Senator Clinton's campaign. I never thought I would see a top tier Democrat stoop to employ the Gingrich,Boehner,Rove tactics.

    I am ANGRY.

  • Talk about piling on...

Mr. Grieve moves to Washington DC and he's suddenly Tim Russert Jr.

YES, its you. I don't find it astonishing at all that Hillary takes this tact. There were six men piling on her. She held her own, and if you listen to what she said about DL in New York, its clear that she did not flip-flop at all, and she has since clarified her statement. You have no comment about the hostility of Russert towards her.

"Russert asked the panel of 7 candidates a total of fifty-two questions, of the 52 questions a total of twenty-five were about Hillary. Of those 25, 22 of those questions were hostile." Every question to Obama was softball and ludicrous."

Clinton did remarkably well. Sure, she was a bit evasive, but at least SHE was talking about Bush/Cheney and the miserable failures of this administration.

  • Shame on Clinton Campaign

Shame on the Clinton campaign. I am a female, life-long Democratic Party voter, and I detest her candidacy for the big-business, accomodationist, DLC-supported nightmare it is. I resent her deciding that I should support her because we both are female.

  • And Actually...

...I thought Clinton really did not only hold her own among the Big Boys, but withstood the "pile on" admirably. She's one tough woman, with big, pendulous balls, and I admire that about her! No shrinking violet, she showed she has what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the best of the. And make no mistake, the Democratic field is an impressive one this year. (To see, just compare them to the gang of losers on the Repooplican side.) For a woman to stand head and shoulders above the very substantial male power all around her says a lot about her ability and her character.

It was a "pile on." They were "men." She is a "woman." And she acquitted herself admirably. And the meme that she "stumbled" is just a bunch of hooey. She was at least as strong as any of the men there. The good thing about all this is that people are trying to frame it as a phony observation. A dozen years ago, the men would have been castigated resoundingly for ganging up against the poor, fragile, vulneralbe little woman. Remember? That's why we couldn't have a woman president. She'd be too weak. She'd cry. She'd cave when the big, bad, evil world leaders bared their teeth at her. It says a lot about us that political hacks with an anti-Hillary agenda are cynical enough to phony this up as just political bull.

Clinton is the real thing, folks.
