The Parrot knows

As the Parrott in Aladdin was known to say,

WHY am I not surprised?

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:03 PM

I betcha

...that his knee problems recently got a lot worse. A ball peen hammer and Republicanista goons will tend to have that effect. Here's hoping he doesn't wake up next to the family dog's head in bed.

More time with the faily

Time for GWB to find new reasons for those leaving because they became uncomfortable.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:13 PM

No wonder he needs a knee operation...

Ret. Vice Adm. John Scott Redd apparently did not learn that the busheviks require a KNEE JERK reaction to their spin machine propaganda.

Too bad for Redd he didn't excel at the automaton response!

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:18 PM

A new definition?

Redd's resignation provides a new definition of kneecapping.

BIG Surprise

A guy in a political position decides he doesn't agree with the current Administration, says so, then loses his job.

WOW is this some surprise or not? Doesn't make him right though, now does it.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:39 PM

Is it really that tough to be a watchdog/dissenter these days?

If the implication is to believed that simply speaking out against the current administration is essentially a firing offense, can't any of these people bring that up with the press? I can't imagine that there is any sort of employment agreement that overrules free speech, and with this many people upset with the executive branch wouldn't at least one person step forward and give us more than the 'time with my family' explanation?

They're already fired - what else have they got to protect?

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:42 PM

Time with family?

Yeah, before Cheney and W start WWIII.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:46 PM

deluxe...

Spot on.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:48 PM

Surgery on his knees?

What? Did Cheney knee-cap him for telling the truth?!

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:48 PM

Too Much To Ask For?

Surely the guy who said "that Americans probably aren't safer today than they were when the war in Iraq began" could have also given us a more novel resignation explanation: that he needs to have some long-delayed surgery on his family ... and he wants to spend more time with his knees?

Why leave even 24% of the people with any doubt at all?

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 01:57 PM

It is NOT conclusive proof that he is right, but...

WOW is this some surprise or not? Doesn't make him right though, now does it.

1) Disagreeing with Commander Codpiece is generally a good bet if you want to be correct on something since W is mostly wrong.

2) Disagreement and being right is a perfect way to get bounced from the codpiece worship group.

3) We actually are less safe since: OBL is still out there, Afghanistan is a bigger problem than before Iraq, and there are all kinds of new terrorists in Iraq.

Yup, overall a real heck-of-a-job codpiece. All is not lost, though, since a lot of bigwig GOP suck-ups are making a lot of money. Tis an ill wind... and all that.

The Retired Corp

Funny that the only Administration and military folks disagreeing with the Liar-In-Chief are either retired or ex-employees.

I guess working for aholes like Bush and Cheney will do that.

We'd better vote for the Dems next Election. It will take years to clean up the mess that Bush will leave and a Repuke Administration cannot be counted upon to put things right.

Kneecapping...

You certainly do need to look after your knees when cross the war criminals responsible for the illegal war in Iraq.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 04:18 PM

@Deluxe

People that high up in the administration - and people several layers below that - got their positions because of connections. Sure, they're fired from that job, but they still have to find another one. Considering that all the people they know are part of the same clique, the word would obviously go out that whoever speaks up is persona non grata. You think that blackballing only happens in Hollywood?

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 04:36 PM

why not start here.

intimidate me. please. oh, please.

ciao

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 05:17 PM

He...

must have realized how incredibly wrong he was.

I suspect you can buy this service somewhere...

Check with a GOP senator, they'll know. Try the password "wide stance".

Keeping Quiet is a standard severence package condition

And it's very hard to resist - the dialog goes something like this: "OK, you're gone, here's the package. You get two years severence if you sign the agreement (which contains a clause that you can never say anything at all about Bush, his heirs and assigns, the Republican party, etc. etc.). If you don't sign, you get nothing, plus we assassinate your character in a very public and very nasty way."

What would you do? Odds are, elect to spend more time with your family, right?

On your knees!!!

Ex-Admiral Reed used to be Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) in Baghdad, Iraq.

I had a knee replacement five years ago. I asked my doctor what I couldn't do.

He said, "You can't run and you can't kneel."

I wasn't "...able to run after breaking my back in 1989," I said, "...and I'm not a Catholic or a carpet layer, so that shouldn't be a problem."

Nowadays I would have added, "...nor a Senator from Idaho, Tennessee or South Carolina, nor a Flag Rank Officer in the U.S. Military."

If It'S True -You Are Fired

Anyone who tells the truth in this most corrupt administration gets fired. It's that simple republicans can't stand the truth
